Top Five Meal, lifetime! Cheap, no frills, nothing restaurant. 2 tables plus the counter. The food is insanely good, never disappointing. One of the top five meals of my life. Maybe being nostalgic but it's seriously amazing.

01/12/16 -- Cafe Mami in the Porter Exchange buildings Japanese Alley is best known for it's Hamburg Sets that has nothing to do with buns and patties.

Definitely try the garlic lemon chicken or one of the curry dishes. Just be prepared to wait for weekend lunches but definitely worth it.

Not the usual eatery. Tiny, cramped but efficient Japanese "fast food". Chicken dishes are flavorful and skillfully cooked, but smallish. Value is only middling.

We tried Cafe Mami on Friday night. Cafe Mami is tiny - it has a bar area that seats about 4 people and then two larger tables that fit 4-6 people each. That's it. Oftentimes, they will seat two parties at each of the tables. The food at Cafe Mami was che

Porter Exchange, located in Porter Square, is filled with Japanese food stalls and restaurants. Take your pick from noodles and rice bowls to pastries. Cafe Mami is just one of the small stalls where you can get great food for cheap. With nothing on the m

Perhaps one of the best curry dishes I have had. There a lot of restaurants in Porter but this is small hole in the wall with excellent home made food that just tastes perfect. The portions are great, the price is fair and the service was good. Overall I really like this spot. If you are more than 4 people than you probably won’t fit.

Swung by here after a Celtics’ game per a friend’s insistence and it was worth the trip. Authentic Japanese street food with a modest variety of choices on the menu. Seating is limited.

Amazing, simple Japanese curry. The chicken katsu was crispy and curry is thick and flavorful. I added tofu and it was super silky. Limited seating, but friendly staff and unbeatable prices. Portions are big too

The staff are fantastic! I LOVE this place. I come here maybe a few times a month. The Curry sets are amazing. The portions are very generous for the price. Cafe Mami curry is the ultimate comfort food. The curry is rich, smooth and hits you right in the soul. I always get the rockin chicken set with a side of curry.

This place is amazing! I ordered the curry with tonkatsu, veggies, and tofu and was so satisfied. This was a very clean meal, I did not feel too full or like I had eaten an overly-heavy meal and it was delicious. The tonkatsu was a thicker cut compared to other places and was perfectly cooked. My boyfriend got the stewed mackerel dish and he was so pleased. I would suggest arriving a few minutes before they open or expect to wait a bit for a seat, but this is 100% worth the wait! I'll be dining here again as soon as I can.

The taste was good! But we waited quite long for the server to take our order and the food to arrive.

I’ve been coming here for about 3 years now… I’ve tried almost everything on the menu and NOTHING disappoints. Best Japanese comfort food, friendly hosts and staff, and good miso soup with every meal. Prices barely changed since i’ve been going and great bang for your buck. Cannot recommend it enough.
