Intimate, vegan-friendly dining in Washington Street Mall. I ordered the Ginger Sesame Noodles and (egg-free) Farm Vegetable Cakes with slaw, brown rice, and spicy ketchup. Everything was light yet satisfying; a delicious, well-seasoned meal. I look forward to returning!
Charming atmosphere, cozy, bright and welcoming. The food was fresh, filling and fantastic. Especially recommend the Grilled Atlantic Salmon with Lemon BBQ Sauce (so delicious!) and literally any of their desserts. All so, so good.
The most underrated restaurant in Cape May! We’ve been vacationing in Cape May for over 10 years, have tried all the staple restaurants and Louisa’s is our new favorite. We were so excited to get a last minute reservation since it is packed every night. The food is simple but delicious, they use fresh and local ingredients and everything was cooked perfectly. The waitstaff are pleasant, knowledgeable and welcoming. Make sure you save room for dessert because it is fantastic. I HIGHLY suggest the chocolate pie. Since the restaurant is small, you feel like you are dining at someone’s house vs. a stuffy, loud restaurant. Louisa’s is our new favorite spot and a must try in Cape May!
Have visited this restaurant many times. We have never been disappointed with the food and service. After receiving my check at a very recent visit, I was surprised to see a 3% charge added for the use of my credit card. At no time was I made aware of this charge until after my card was charged. I understand that this is a new trend among some restaurants, but should have been told about that when I was called to confirm the reservation. I suggest just adding a dollar on each entree and forget about the credit card fees.
The food was really great and fresh. The fish was a really great and well cooked - we had the flounder and blue fish. The brown rice and the slaw were yummy. The salad app was a little small but delicious. We tried the chocolate pie and the cake of the day which were both very yummy. Would definitely go back.
Charming atmosphere and delicious, fresh, artfully served food. Swordfish was tender and juicy, and the beet salad with edible flowers had the perfect balance of flavors. We enjoyed the tasty, healthy meal made with fresh local ingredients (and a stop at Louisa’s chocolate shop afterwards).
Absolutely loved Louisa's. It was such a perfect small restaurant dining experience. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and attentive and made some great recommendations. The food was awesome as well. Make sure to save room for dessert, which was probably the highlight of the meal. I'd also recommend bringing a bottle of white wine, they will provide a chiller to keep it cold.
Amazing food, service, and ambiance! Crab cakes and fish were simply done to perfection. Do not skip out on dessert! Highly recommended!
We had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The food and the service were excellent. Louisa’s Cafe is a hidden gem.💎 We’ve been meaning to try Louisa’s Cafe for years. We called midweek for a Saturday reservation and got seated right away. The entrees were delicious and the desserts were superior (save room 😋). Louisa’s Cafe is a BYOB and there’s a liquor store nearby with a pretty good selection. We’ll be back.
Louisa's is quite a gem! The bright yellow and blue nautical ambiance provides a great dining atmosphere and the decor (including the shark in the bathroom) is sure to put a smile on your face. In terms of the food, simplicity is the key here:
1. Ginger Sesame Noodles with Peanuts, Cucumbers and Scallions - great flavor and a light appetizer to get you ready for the next course.
2. Pasta with homemade sauce - a good option if seafood is not your thing. Though I do think that this dish needs something a bit more.
3. Local Flounder with Dill Horseradish Sauce - though the flounder is minimally seasoned, this brings out the natural flavor and freshness of the fish.
My family has been coming here for 20 plus years and every meal has been absolutely incredible. Every part of the meal is incredible, the desert’s especially so.
My girlfriends and I stumbled up this place while strolling through Cape May. It was just slightly off the beaten path and had a lovely patio with bright colors and a relaxed atmosphere. It was BYOB which caught us by surprise; but there’s a liquor store next door. 😁 Service was relaxed but attentive. And the food, although very fresh and beautifully cooked was a bit under seasoned for my liking. But the desserts were the absolute stars of the show. A-ma-zing. I’m a Georgia girl and I’d come back again and again just for the peach cake thing. Delicious.
To be honest, we had to wait a little while to be seated at Louisa's Cafe (even though we had a reservation) but it's understandable once you have dined there - you won't want to leave! The food is soooo delicious! My only regret was not basing our Cape May trip around Louisa's Cafe's hours because we wanted to return the next day to try more dishes on their menu but, unfortunately they were closed.
Super delicious locally sourced food. All menu items written on the black board. Friendly and helpful staff. Reservations recommended (it's a small space). Don't forget dessert - they own the chocolate shop next door and the desserts are wonderful.
This is a long-time favorite that I haven’t been to in a few years until last night. What a treat! I loved the fresh new decor (the tables!) and the farm-to-table seasonal menu. The staff was, as always, polite and sweet while providing exceptional service. The small glasses for wine reminded me of my travels through Europe where the wine matters more than the vessel. If you find yourself anywhere near Cape May, treat yourself to dinner here.
Such a fun quaint atmosphere. Our food was delicious! Flounder, scallops, crab cakes & all the desserts!! Our server was personable and engaging- highly recommend this gem.
A hidden gem in Cape May. Difficult to get into during the summer, so we always hit it on our December trip. Food is very fresh, all locally sourced. Seafood is fantastic. I had the scallops, and they were done perfectly, sitting on a bed of brown rice, with a ginger sauce on the side. Wait staff was very pleasant, and opened our BYOB wine almost as soon as we sat down. The bread pudding dessert is decadent. Really hoping to get a summer dinner there next July.
