Love love their amazing Italian food. We had a shrimp parmigiana sandwich and a vegetarian anti pasta. My little one said the deep dish pizza was the best pizza of her life. Highly recommend.
The best pizza!!!! Authentic!! I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants real italian food!!
I have had the pleasure of eating at Spirito's in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Now I can say that I completed the cycle. The pizza here at Spirito's in Carlsbad was excellent. Great crust and toppings that were properly added. My friend had the meatball sandwich and he noted how good the meatballs were and that the bread "was to die for". A must STOP if you are in or near Carlsbad. You won't be disappointed.
I'm Italian and make a mean spaghetti and meatball and eggplant Parmesan; my grandma's Northern Italian recipe. I have been in San Diego since the 70's and have been in search for exceptional authentic Italian food. Never could find it until today at Spirito's! Out the door busy, inside and out! Just deliciosa! Mike from New Jersey has the flavors down and spot on! A small, casual diner in Carlsbad! Bravo Mike for the food you deliver to us. What a treat! Please expand the place and open up in San Diego!
I’m someone who really loves a good meatball sandwich. Well the made from scratch meatballs did not disappoint!!! Thanks to Guy Fieri for making it known! Great place
I couldn't believe I ran into this place. I used to eat at their restaurant in Elizabeth NJ 40 years ago. IT WAS JUST THE SAME! They didn't skip a beat. Still the perfect pizza crust, not too thick, not too thin. Tasty sauce too. My husband had the calzone and it could have fed the family for dinner. Will be back soon.

Everything is homemade! Pasta also! The vet beat Italian food I have had in a restaurant !
Truly amazing! I drive 90 miles from Seal Beach to have lunch and enjoy a day in Carlsbad! It’s a must have when in Carlsbad!
We saw the place on Diners, DriveIns and Dives and went while visiting California. The food was great and the owner could not have been more nice and welcoming to our Texas family! Thank you!
First visit looking for a quick slice of pizza. Staff are all very nice and professional! Had a sandwich and my son had thin crust pizza. They were both great BUT I Have to go back for the pasta!!! I saw other diners eating theirs and it looked and smelled fabulous! What a gem this place is! 👍
We stumbled upon this restaurant and found a gem! I had the spaghetti and meatball and my husband had a sausage sandwich. It was so delicious. We had plenty for leftovers and enjoyed it just as much the next day. It is a very casual place. Service was excellent.
Bought lasagna, Chicken Parmigiana and Manacotti. Was very good! The packing could of been better, was a bit messy pulling out of the bag. We also had some cannolis and tiramisu. Also very good!
What great handmade Italian food! We've driven by here and never noticed Spiritos until we saw it on DDD. That was such a good review, we decided to try it right away. The food is incredible! The setting is humble, but for these ravioli and lasagna I don't mind. We're stuffed and have leftovers for home, too. Come early, it fills up fast. We will be back!
Had the lasagne with sausage sauce. Loved it and I was amazed with the generous portion. Can’t wait to go back and try the raviolis!
Whether in Elizabeth N.J. or Carlsbad, CA, this is the best pizza and Italian food you could find.
Our new favorite pizza/Italian restaurant!! Been a local for 7+ years and now that we are moving 30 mins away (tomorrow) we find this place!! Well, we will be coming here every time we come to town!
Great little deli-style, Italian restaurant. Featured on Guy Fieri’s “Dinners, Drive-Ins, and Dives”. This is our second time here. For this trip, we had the chicken parmigiana and the meatball subs. Their red sauce is excellent. The sub rolls are the perfect consistency - soft on the inside with a slight chew on the outside. (Always gets an extra side of sauce for dipping). The chicken parmigiana portion was large, came with a side of bread, and pasta. Small establishment with some inside and outside seating. Large menu selection of entrees, pizza, calzones, salad. Everything you’d expect from a mom and pop pizza restaurant. A must stop.
Great Italian food. Prepare for a wait. They get busy. We live about 30 mins away and called ahead and then drove down to pick up our food and then ate there. Friendly people. Two of the younger girls need to learn how to pick up the pace. The one poor lady I felt was picking up all their slack. We've gone here like 3 or 4 times in the last few weeks. We love their food!!!
Small family owned place with good food. I had fabulous spaghetti with meat sauce ... and a sausage!!! Generous serving with plenty left over for my lunch tomorrow. Though the menu is somewhat limited (compared to some other Italian restaurants), you will not find anywhere with a better tasting sauce. Actually, if you are Italian it's called gravy ... NOT sauce and that is how it reads on the menu. Now, that's authentic!
Featured in Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, we had to try the recommended menu items. It hit the spot and made me want more! I had the cheese ravioli with meat sauce added for an extra charge The dish looks pretty small but it fills you up. Wife had the egg plant parmigiana and wished she had got the meat sauce to go with it. My 9 year old devoured his cheese pizza. Over all we will definitely be return customers when we're in the area. I can see why this place was on DDD.
I have been to Spirito's in Elizabeth, NJ many times and came on vacation to Carlsbad and tried this location. Didn't think it would be as good, but it was. Their gravy is awesome and the Ravioli's are just like I remembered. The Pizza was really good, but not as good as the original, but close. We went twice in a week - that's how good it was.
This is the best Italian food around! The best dish I’ve had here is the eggplant parmigiana, it’s soooo good, just like a Little Italy in NYC. I’m very picky about my pizza and it’s also the best around. It’s annoying as hell to get in touch with them and when you do it’s so noisy in the background you have to scream your order at them, it’s well worth the scream though. I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture of my food. 😋
