The food was delicious, and the staff was friendly! I would definitely go back again! Prices are reasonable too.
Sushi Chef Musashi took my wife and I on a flavor escapade, everything we ate was made with love. Quality rolls and dishes with great artistic presentation.
Loved it! My husband and I were in town celebrating our anniversary and stumbled across the restaurant. Great service, and friendly staff. Wonderful presentation and yummy food. Definitely coming back. Oh and they gave us a free appetizer!
This place has amazing food! The food might be the best I've ever had. The location was a couple of blocks off the main strip in Carmel. The restaurant itself was plain and had a diner feel to it but the food was top shelf. I do recommend it.
My aunt and I came here tonight after a negative experience at another local sushi restaurant (other review posted) . We were feeling upset but right when we walked into this restaurant we were immediately greeted kindly by the owners and a local couple. It was our first time there and the locals told us everything was amazing and we couldn't go wrong. My aunt and I got the Hanagasa boat 2 and everything was delicious. I especially loved their crunchy roll and special roll. The nice local couple even bought us a bottle of sake as they were leaving. The great food, amazing service, and welcoming and friendly atmosphere completely turned our night around! I wish I lived closer so I could go back. I highly recommend!
Very good restaurant. I can safely say it is my favorite. The food was delicious and the staff were great. I ordered the Magic Dragon Roll and it was terrific. I highly recommend this place.
The service was fast and reliable. They made a mistake and accidentally added an extra roll to my order; so they made sure to tell me that I don’t have to worry about paying for it. The food was great and at a good price range. We will be coming back.
Had the chirashi bowl. The fish was fresh and tasty. They also offer a chirashi plate, if you don't like digging under the fish for rice.
This place was simply amazing! We love sushi and let me tell you we fell in love with this place. The beer is super ice cold and the Monterey roll is one of the best we’ve ever had. It was worth the 6 Hour drive from Upland to visit Carmel and Monterey.
As a matter fact we will be going back for sushi today.
We had some salmon and tuna sushi as well and that was also super fresh.
The owner is very kind. If you strike up a conversation with him he will chat with you. Very nice humble man. If you are and love sushi try this place out. 😚
Had the 3 item combo bento. It’s really nice. Tender beef teriyaki, generous portion of salmon in salmon roll, generous cut of fish on the nigiri sushi as well. Rice is well portioned with the rice in roll and sushi considered so you don’t get overwhelmed by rice. Green tea brewed with tea leaves. Value for money.
Visited on 2/7/19 for dinner, got the mixed plate, was enjoyable - good not great. Very good and quick service, mom and pop feel and affordable.

Nice, hidden Gem!! if you go to Carmel-by-the-Sea and you are craving for good quality, awesome flavor sushi, you have to stop by Hanagasa!! fresh ingredients, fast service and nice service to top it off. we are definitely coming back!!

Great Little Sushi Restaurant Off the Beaten Path in Carmel. The staff/owners were friendly and attentive. The sushi was excellent and they had a large selection of rolls and other sushi. They also have lovely art on the wall, which a family member painted, and you can purchase. Nice atmosphere and sushi bar seating.
Delicious and pretty large portions. Price is good for the size of trays especially for lunch! Nice mom and pop shop with 2 outdoor tables if you have dogs. The owners are so nice too
