Here will be our new favorite sushi place.
Nice decoration, fresh sashimi, really big rolls, service is just OK but I don't mind, since they are not rude so it's fine. We will come here more often because of their food.
The sushi is delicious! Sometimes service is not very fast but you know everything is made fresh to order. Ambience is gorgeous. I recommend lunch special for sushi. Try the crazy boy roll- a little spicy, a little fried - and the rolls are huge!
I visited for lunch durring the week. This place was super busy. The staff was still very friendly.
The restaurant is small but super cool with dim lighting and huge cherry blossom tree's inside, Very inviting and peaceful atmosphere.
The sushi was pretty good and the rolls were massive. Not 5 star sushi good but it's not expensive by any means so for the price it's absolutely fine. The lunch special is priced just right. You get 3 large rolls for 13 bucks. Overall a great experience and I will return again for lunch.
I was so surprised by this place; their rolls are HUGE!! I wish I had checked the pictures before I ordered. We ordered two rolls per person and a few appetizers and had way too much food. So take a look before you order, so you don’t have a 2lb to-go box.
Nonetheless, this place is great. The rolls were tasty, my personal fave was the Best Alaska roll, and for the appetizer, I really enjoyed the Monkey Brain.
The service was mediocre; they didn’t communicate well at all, but the food came out fast and tasted good, so for that, I’m giving 4/5 stars. Overall it’s a great value for the price.
The restaurant is located in a little neighborhood mall in Carrollton, next to a Mochinut (you've gotta try that). Parking in front of the restaurant is really tough on a Saturday night, so I'd suggest going early or just parking on the south side where there is a huge parking lot!
We arrived pretty early - about 5:40 and were a little surprised to walk in and see a line of people right inside the doorway. No masks required and none worn, except by the staff. We were celebrating my sister's birthday. She and I ducked immediately back outside, since we still don't get out much. We donned our masks and went back in. Her daughter found out the wait was about 20 minutes and got a pager, so we went next door to check out the Mochinuts (see my review on this great place). We returned before the pager went off and only had to wait a minute or so for a booth towards the back. It was a tiny booth, enough for two people sitting right next to each other and one chair on the opposite side. I was glad it was on the end - no social-distancing going on in there.
I eat sushi often enough to know I didn't want the usual, so I wanted to check out their menu selections. Our server came over quickly to get our drink orders, then came back twice more to see if we were ready to order. Since it was our 1st time, we needed a minute - I felt a little pressured.
I ordered the miso soup ($1.70) for a starter. It arrived warm, not hot and was not as good as I was hoping. My sis & niece ordered the appetizer tempura. I had a bite to compare it to what I've had before - it wasn't bad but since it was fried, it should have been hotter-fresher. It included a huge broccoli (?) stalk, potato, squash & carrot.
I ordered the oishi roll ($16.35) because I LOVE cucumber rolls (I tend to pick off most of my rice, so cucumber-wrapped rolls are such a nice change). They were large and quite stuffed, which made it difficult to pick up without the weight of the mixture in the middle falling out. I don't use chopsticks every day, so it was probably a user-error, lol.
My niece ordered the crazy mom ($8.95) - it was basically just the rainbow deep-fried. I don't usually like the fried rolls but this one was pretty good. She ordered the rainbow roll ($15.35) for my sis, who didn't know what to order. Of course the dishes were all communal... so I tried a couple of pieces of the rainbow roll. I like to pick off the piece of fish & eat it by itself. The spicy tuna was fresh and tasty but the yellowtail, which isn't a particularly strong taste, tasted odd, due to the sauce that was drizzled over it. The pieces on the rainbow roll were huge - stuffed with crabmeat mixture (way too much cream cheese) and large size around, making it super hard to maneuver! I seriously need to get better with my stix! But honestly, I like a size that will easily fit in my mouth because when I have to bite into it, it always falls apart. No complaints about the size - more value for your money.
The service was very good, given that every table was occupied and moving at a fast pace. My water was filled twice during our meal - part of what earned it the 5 stars. I'll def return for happy hour! Loved the beautiful decor - the trees made you feel like you were outside!
Note - some of their prices have gone up from the online posted prices.
My number one daughter has been raving about this spot and boy was she not wrong. The restaurant was beautifully decorated with faux cherry blossom tree with lights.
Our server Jimin was prompt and attentive.
Our sushi was fresh and tasty. We had the Golden Mountain and Volcano rolls and both were amazing. The nigiri, a true test of a sushi restaurant , and they too were fantastic. The portions were generous with well seasoned rice - another sign of good sushi.
I will be back.
Food portions are HUGE! Order accordingly. Food was delicious. I ordered sushi/sashimi and it was very fresh. My husband and son had katsu and they cleared their plates. We were asked if we were ready to order three times within 3 minutes. Once we were actually ready we tried waving down a server for 5-8 minutes as they zoomed past us repeatedly. Environment is beautiful. We will be back and we highly recommend.
