Good selection of southern favorites with a pretty authentic flavor. Having been to New Orleans many times and having tried all of their well known “best place for…” IMO, the flavors are right, that doesn’t mean they are great or that they may suit Bay Area palettes.
We ordered a bunch of different dishes and they were all pretty good. Spicy, salty and some very peppery. I wasn’t crazy about the soft shell crab, especially since the gills and stuff where fried with the crab and not removed beforehand. I found the string beans overpowering with the amount of salt and pepper.
Overall a decent experience where there was takeout or limited indoor and outdoor seating options.
I would go back when I have a hankering for southern food. The prices are decent and food is pretty good. As with many places during Covid, service is limited and wait times can be long, even for takeout orders. With the table right by the front window, you can also see the cooks making all of the dishes, the kids got a kick out of that.
This place is great, there wasn't anything we tried that we didn't like. I had the Fried Chicken Sandwich and it was great, the slaw was very good on it. The Cajun Fries were a definite standout as well. Super good!
Blackened chicken sandwich was delicious! Cajun fries are dangerously good. Crispy Catfish was well seasoned. Shrimp was good. Brown sugar lemonade was perfect! Right amount of sweetness.
Amazing southern food. I tried their crab fries , who that chicken, southern chicken sandwich and crawfish etoufee. The highlight for me were the crab fries and who that chicken. The seasoning , crispness and freshness was all perfect. I’m going back to try other items for sure.
Heard about Southern Comfort Kitchen and finally got there to try, they have an obvious following. I ordered the Cajun Crab Fries and they were wonderful, can't wait to go back and try more. Parking lot is hectic at lunch time
Jambalaya was good. It could have had a little more meat in it. I got little whezzy chicken strips taste yummy. Just wish I knew greens was a salad ,(salad sauce made strips soggy) the regular chicken strip were good too& Cajun fries. Also got the catfish and shrimp for my husband seasoned well. There side sauces were good. Which they had fried chicken and more sides but DEFINITELY will be back.
Came in on Sunday, 12/5/21, thirty minutes prior to close. Location is on a very small lot next to a learning center. The place was very clean and extremely busy. Indoors and outside were decorated with Christmas gear. Orders are bagged in brown paper bags and stapled closed. The open kitchen area is very small and compacted. There were at least six workers in there and two were bagging. I ordered the "50/50" fish and prawns, red beans and rice, gumbo, oysters with seasoned rice, hush puppies and chicken and sausage jambalaya (which contained zero visible sausage and one small sliver of chicken) and the rice jambalaya was dry/sticky. The red beans and rice was flavorful with great spices. My son enjoyed the oysters and rice. The cashier stated that the gumbo had crab in it. This was not true. It had fish and shrimp. The gumbo was just mediocre and I liked it the least due to the chunks of fish (preference). The fried fish was very good and cooked in cornmeal but the very small prawns were fried with a flour batter and not as good (preference). Overall, I would definitely visit again and recommend. The customer service is great. 🙌🏾👍🏾👏🏾🤲🏾👋🏽🥰💯
