Lovely place! I had a gift card in my wallet for a year. Just hadn't been able to get myself over there. But today I made it my mission and I was rewarded! Challah bread and sourdough! Plus I had $2 left on the gift card and there just happened to be sugar cookies with sprinkles for... $2! Sorry no pictures of the cookie. That didn't hardly make it out of the store. I was in a bit of a hurry so I didn't get any inside pictures either. It's a pretty store inside. It used to be the little French restaurant. I don't remember seeing sit down area. There might be. If there isn't that would be a nice addition. The bread tastes wonderful. I got the last Challah from Passover and Easter weekend. Note they only take tips in cash so bring a little. I didn't know that so I'll have to go back. Rats... :)

I went to the Rustic Hearth because I heard they had very good sourdough bread. I bought a loaf of the Rustic Sourdough, and it truly was the very best sourdough bread I have ever had. I will definitely go back for more.

Unassuming location offers INCREDIBLE baked goods, definitely a gift to Cedar Rapids and surroundings to have this kind of bakery. Loaves of all kinds (particularly remarkable sourdoughs), chocolate croissants, and people who really care about what they do and what they produce. Order a few days in advance if you know what you want and don't want to be disappointed about out-of-stock offerings when you show up.

I just was in neighborhood & been meat to see it myself. I was pleased to know that has coffee and ice coffee. It had the most astounding affect on me. It was dark and in theme with it's general store old hut type hobbit feel or something. I was given the impression by only my own judgement that it was not so much a lounge establishment. I would most definitely be back. Coffee was second to none

Rustic Hearth bakery was a really great spot to check out for a quick bite for breakfast and some espresso/coffee drinks. The atmosphere inside the bakery was very warm and inviting, have a display of the breads and pastries offered when you walk in. There was only one woman working at the front taking orders and making the coffee drinks. I got the chocolate croissant and a mocha. The chocolate croissant was not only crispy, but very flaky as well, making for a very nice texture. The chocolate was almost like a Nutella spread, and there was a good amount in the croissant, but not overpowering. My mocha was made very well, with them using their own chocolate as the syrup. It was a nice balance of the bold coffee taste, along with the sweetness of the chocolate. My only thing with the bakery is with there only being one person at the front, they were not only getting customer's baked goods, but also making the drinks. This makes for people having to wait in line if there is a spike in customers coming in, so definitely recommend getting someone to make the drinks. Other than that, the overall experience was really great, and I hope to come back soon for more!
