Review Little Cuba - Chamblee

Amin Karim
This is one of those hole in a wall kinda place. I give it 3.5 stars cause I've had better Cuban food before. Atlanta might not have as many good Cuban food options but there are plenty of them better than this. We ordered ropa vieja and pollo asado. Both came with either white or yellow rice and had maduros on the side. I've had better plantains but they weren't bad at all. Ropa vieja was a bit too dry for the taste. We were the only ones there so the service wasn't bad by any means. Love the atmosphere and the culture the place has.

We ate here a lot before the pandemic started and always enjoyed it. Saw it on DoorDash and had to order it again. I ordered the Bistec Palomilla with yellow rice and black beans as sides. Also ordered a cheese and spinach empanada to go with it. The order arrived quickly, complete and packaged well for delivery. The steak was cooked perfectly whereas the edges had a nice crisp but center had a nice tender chew to it. The seasoning on the steak, combined with the cool pico de Gallo combined for an excellent entree. The yellow rice was basic yet delicious (cooked perfectly) and in my opinion only, the black beans are some of the best in town. Excellent empanada topped it off well Will certainly be ordering from here again.

First time trying Cuban food Friday, and it was pretty good for my first impression. I had the spinach and feta cheese empanadas and then had arroz el pollo... super good! Waiter was friendly, too. Small restaurant but definitely worth the try.

I ordered a steak and I would have felt ashamed serving someone what I was served. My steak was literally as thick as 3 credit cards stack together. I felt cheated, but I remained silent in gratitude for having a meal. That being said, I will never return to this establishment. It was under new management and they are renaming it soon.

I absolutely love this place especially since they’ve added vegan options! Theres a young lady with glasses who wears her hair in a ponytail at the front desk. she’s so kind and very informative with the menu. She never forgets utensils, packages my order very well and always has a sense of urgency! The food is great but when the front desk person is awesome it’s a plus!

The dinner I purchases was delicious. This one dish was only the beginning of the great cooking.

Food needs more flavor and the to go portions totally rip you off. I got a bigger portion the last time I went for yuka fries. They lack salt in their food and the people lack enthusiasm and personality.

Unfortunately this place is under new management, and they are no longer making things in a real Cuban way. :( (Not even in a real Caribbean way. 😢) This has been my go-to Cuban place for the last 10 years, but now I will just have to fly to Miami to eat at Molinas. The Cuban sandwich has mayonnaise… so, so sad about this. They no longer have the Medianoche or beefsteak empanizado/encebollado. They are using yellow rice, like a Mexican restaurant, instead of white like real Cuban restaurants. The beef empanadas do not have egg or olives. 😳 And the beans do not even have bay leaves or onions, the beans here were always the best. Unfortunately this is now an American restaurant with Cuban inspiration, bet definitely not Cuban or Caribbean. Now to start the search for an authentic Cuban restaurant again, hopefully there is a new one around as I am not a fan of Papi’s because it’s also an American restaurant with Cuban inspiration. So very sad about this. (This review comes from a Puerto Rican person and a person from Miami.)

Little Cuba can be found in the North Hills shopping center, anchored by Big Lots just South of I285 exiting onto Chamble-Tucker Rd. The street address is 3350 Chamblee Tucker Rd, Chamblee, GA 30341 if you're using a map app. With so many other good restaurants in this out-of-the-way corner (Mediterranean Bakery, Heart of India and the Junxion - there's also a very palatable NY Pizza joint and a Subway) Little Cuba gets a bit lost. It's located on the left side of the shopping plaza, so left of Big Lots as you look straight on, about halfway down that part of the "L" shape.

Eh. Not great, but not bad? Definitely affordable, but no where close to really good Cuban food. The Cuban sandwich itself was super mediocre.

Delicious. Service was great. It was our first experience with Cuban food, when my little ones didn't care for part of their meal, they quickly offered to swap it with something else. Puerco Frita was great.

Cheap? Yes, authentic? NEGATIVE

if you are Cuban or have any idea of what Cuban food is, do not come here. Insipid and far from genuine. Disappointing.

Lechon Asado was excellent.

Go! You won't regret it. Best Cuban we've had outside of Florida!

Phenomenal. Don't let the strip mall location fool you. Beautiful decor. Friendly service. Good prices. You'd pay triple if it were in Buckhead or Perimeter.

Just had a great Cuban sandwich on first visit. Will definitely be back for dinner sometime.

Great Cuban Food. They make a really good Cuban sandwich here and their other options are just as good. Traditional Cuban food. The decor is nice and the service is very friendly. It's a nice little restaurant to grab a quick lunch or to sit down and have dinner. I'm glad this place is so close to my work!

Seems Pretty Authentic. Stopped in for lunch today and had a great meal. Started off with a cold and creamy mango batidos that tasty and thankfully not over sweet. Went on to an Ensalada de Palmita (tomatos, lettuce, hearts of palm with a vinaigrette) that was light and satisfying. Finished with a Cuban sandwich that was certainly the traditional, but somehow just the least bit dryer than usual. Gotta mention that this place has a huge selection of traditional Cuban (beef, pork and seafood) and is much more than a Cuban sandwich spot. The inside is much nicer than you might expect in this tired strip shop and combined with nice folks, this seems like it'd be a great dinner option in this area.

Cuban sand is awesome here

Cuba in Atlanta. Always good food! Chicken soup and Ropa Vieja are my favorites. If you are in the neighborhood this is a must try.

Best in Town. I might not be an expert on Cuban food, but I grew up in Ft. Lauderdale and did drive down to Miami when in the mood for the real stuff.

I think Little Cuban is as close to that as I've seen since leaving South Florida. A great menu, food has always been top notch, service with a smile and deserts to die for. I live in Marietta and while I wish it was closer, it's worth the drive every time.

Yummy Authentic Cuban!. I went to Little Cuba the other day for lunch. It is tucked away in a shopping center, so easy to miss. I have been searching for a good Cuban sandwich since Havana on Buford Hwy closed. I think I have found it! The bread was the perfect mix of soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. The black beans and yellow rice were perfectly seasoned. The prices are reasonable, but there was no kids menu so we spent a little more money than we might have because they had to get adult portions. The decor leaves a little to be desired, but the food is great. I would definitely go back!

Little Cuba....the best Cuban food in Atlanta!

Ricky Rico. I would drive halfway across the country for those empanadas!! It's like heaven here on earth when I'm sitting at a table there enjoying a Jupina and a Pan con bistec. If you haven't tried this place then you don't know what you are missing!! Castro himself would approve!!
Chris
A little slice of Miami flavor right here in the ATL. Bistec empanizado was excellent, tostones spot on.

I just had a very enjoyable lunch at Little Cuba. It's in that other part of Chamblee, the part where foodies never go, on the other side of I-85. That's probably why I didn't really notice this restaurant for quite some time. I started off with tostones (mashed and fried plantains). Plantains need some sort of sauce to lubricate the starch. These came with a totally unexpected sauce made of lemon. To my surprise, it was a great complement to the plantains. My pork was delicious. The pork cubes were fried just enough to give them great carmelization and texture. Inside the meat was juicy and flavorful. The rice and beans were very hearty. I hadn't bargained on the plantain chips; I just sampled them but they made a good complement to the pork.

Little Cuba (3350 Chamblee Tucker Road, Suite D, Chamblee. 770-451-0025) is not a new restaurant, but it deserves a little love for its massive menu of classic Cuban dishes. The restaurant has managed to receive very little press in the 10 years it's been
