This Indian restaurant is a gem in the city! The food is consistently delicious, with samosas and mango lassi stealing the show. The burst of flavors is truly memorable.
Yes, it tends to get crowded, but don't let that deter you. Be patient, and you'll be rewarded with a culinary experience that's worth every minute of the wait. This has become one of our top picks for Indian cuisine in the city.
Kohinoor catered our wedding and we couldn't be happier! The food was amazing, and the owner Ujjwal was great to work with. Everyone at our wedding was talking about how good the food was for days! Thank you Ujjwal & family <3
I ate many Cookies Indian restaurants in different states. This one is one of the best. Owner and workers were so great. They don’t bore you but don’t make you feel left alone either.
Don’t hesitate to come if you’re not fun for spicy food, they have a lot of mild dishes too. We ordered both mild and spicy dishes, four different naans (flat bread) and loved all of them. We were so full and couldn’t order any dessert, I believe we missed a lot.
I spoke with one of the workers and learned this is a family owned restaurant. That’s another reason to love and support.
Great service and good foods. The Samosa Chaat is excellent but the Cheese Naan is the the BOMB! It creates such unique taste with the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Butter Chicken. The cheese has a sharp taste but does not mask the curry. The foods are tasty and the spice level is perfect for me. I would consider myself having low to moderate tolerance. So, you might need to ask them to dial up the heat if you enjoy a good burn.
Service was wonderful and attentive. The server told me it might take some time after ordering because they were busier than usual. The foods were served pretty quick despite that disclaimer. Even faster than some restaurant that didn't warn me. Overall, had a good time and will return.
Decent food and ambience. Ordered chili chicken, mix veg pakora along with garlic naan. Natural with paneer Burgi was awesome too
The food is excellent & deserves 5-stars. The price of the food is expensive given the portion sizes for what we ordered. The service star is lower due to the lack of social communication with our family. It made our visit and the atmosphere uncomfortable. For example, our waitress did not greet us or say anything to us at all. She only handed us our food & walked away during our visit. She was able to serve us, just non-verbally, & I was not pleased with that service style at all. Another waitress took our orders, but did not say anything more to us until we left the restaurant. Another challenge with the atmosphere was the light in the restaurant. It was dark which posed a problem for us with regard to reading the menus. Despite the service & atmosphere, we would visit again or order carry-out.
Chicken Sekuwa is very delicious. It tastes crispy outside and tender inside. We ordered Shrimpsaag, Bhuna gosht, Lamb curry, and Chicken masala. Shrimp saag is my favorite. Bhuna gosht tastes better than lamb curry because the soup is thicker and with more flavor. Their naan is really good, especially the original flavor. Coconut kulf is my favorite, tasting like condensed milk with coconut.
Place is clean with awesome decorations. Food was super flavorful and the servings are surprisingly large. We ordered 3 entres for 5 people with rice and garlic naan. And the staff was really smart because we forgot our leftovers and someone ran and gave it to us from the side door. Just a great place to celebrate.
Love the food there. Very often, I taste their foods. The lamb bhuna gosht seems to me super delicious. I tried almost all the items at Kohinoor. Today we tried "Kohinoor Combination grill" which seems to me the best among all their items. I would definitely recommend this dish and specifically explore this restaurant. In my opinion, this is the best Indian restaurant in the Urbana-Champaign area. All the staffs were very friendly and of good behavior.
I picked this restaurant, because I heard it has the best Indian food in the Urbana-Champaign area. I think the rumors are correct.
The food is stellar. Amazing cooking and beautiful presentation. When you ask them to make food spicy, they can REALLY spice it up for you. But, you get what you ask for. And it's not a meaningless spice - it's incredibly flavorful and just adds to the dish.
I can't speak enough of the service. Phenomenal service. Water jugs are left on each table and more water was provided when we were running low, without us asking. Our waiter continuously check on us, without being intrusive. And the {cook?}{owner?} does a great job taking your order and explaining each dish when you have questions. If he thinks soemthing will be too spicy for you, he lets you know. And when he saw we didn't completely finish a dish because of the level of spice, he asked if we'd like a milder one. A very VERY thoughtful cook who just wants people to enjoy the experience of eating there. Wonderful experience
I would 100% recommend if you enjoy Indian food. Definitely would come back!
We loved the Chicken 49, the aloo chili masala with homemade paneer, and the kohinoor naan.
We came here for the second time, the food is really tasty. The portion size is more than enough for an average person. Sizzlers are a must try here. We’re going to come back for sure for the scrumptious food.
Came for lunch and we had a wonderful time. I had a spicy lamb dish (don’t remember the name, similar to curry) and my wife had a lunch set. The fried chicken we got for our toddler was very tasty as well.

One of the best Indian restaurants in the area. The food is great. There is something on the menu for everyone no matter what you're in the mood for. The service is fast and customer-focused whether dining in our carrying out.
Tandoori Shrimp and the Naan unbelievable. It’s OMG good and fresh! Hubs had the Lamb it was equally bomb! I wish we had room for dessert. Our waiter was very kind and helpful. We are 1 hour away and that is all we have talked about for the ride home. Can not wait to go again.
Delicious Indian food in Champaign area.
Was passing by the city and thought of having lunch here.
It’s a first come first serve. No Reservations.
Bar available. We ordered Chicken Chilli, Lamb Ghost, Chicken Kebab Masala and Roti.
Everything was delicious. Service was excellent.
Tried the Indian beer - Flying Horse.
Amazing food in the restaurant. Very authentic and amazing. Loved the food. The staff helped to explain all the dishes. One of the most authentic North Indian restaurants I’ve been to. The staff checked on table pretty often even though it was busy. If you want an amazing evening with family for amazing Indian crusines this is the place to be
Great Indian food with reasonable prices and good portions. As we travel across the country we try to eat Indian as much as possible. This is one of the best Indian restaurants we have eaten at. We were able to order it with spice and it was great. Great chutneys and pakora. We will stop here each time we happen to be crossing the country.
