Highly popular joint for anyone who likes Thai food. Super fast service with a smile. One of the few places which has genuinely spicy food. Pad thai noodles and green curry with rice recommended. The crab cakes are just awesome. Clean place. Good portions as well. Standard place for students. Reasonably priced as well. One of the iconic places for all students .
I loveee the specific texture of their pad Thai noodles so much. I was a student at UIUC but have since returned home to Australia and I miss eating here so much!! If anyone could please share what brand of dried pad Thai noodles they use or even a way to contact the store that’s not via phone, I would be so grateful! Please help me find the noodle brand 😭😭
This is the best Thai place I’ve ever been to and I’ve been looking for a replacement to no avail for literal years. I come to homecoming each year and it’s arguable that getting Bangkok is my favorite part.
I’ve been wanting to try this place for literally FOREVER and I finally got around to doing so! Much like I’ve heard from others, I can agree this place is a hidden gem for Thai food! 🥢🥡
Ordered the Beef Pad Thai with no spice. For $13, this was a plentiful and generous portion. The noodles were cooked perfectly as was the beef. It was really tasty - I even had leftovers because of how big the portion was!
It’s located on Green Street and is super close to campus.
Will be back! ❤️
A wonderful hole in the wall Thai place. You order and pickup your food at the counter. The place is frequently full or well occupied. Some Thai acquaintances tell me that real Thai food is not too heavy with vegetables. The dishes I had fit that description. The flavors were wonderful. I recommend this place to anyone who like thai food.
Excellent food - we got the Chicken Red Curry and Eggplant with Basil. Minor suggestion - actual silverware instead of plastic would have been so much better!
Authentic tasting Thai food. Not really family style - they serve individual plates. We ordered Tom Kha chicken with rice noodles(that was really nice), Pad ped fish (supposed to be a stir fry dish but the fish was fried and then stir fried for the dish) and red curry chicken (that was really nice).
There is some reluctance in handing extra plates and bowls for sharing!
Bangkok Thai Restaurant & Pho is about as authentic as you can get on Green Street. Thai noodles and curry tastes like home. Tried the egg rolls to start and was fresh and crispy, really not a fan of bean thread noodles, but still good. Phad See Eiw and Phad Thai are cooked with just enough tangy and spice. Very flavorful and generous on the protein and veggies. Rounded the meal with a Beef Red Curry with potatoes with a heat level of 4 gave enough spice and really packed a punch. Looking forward to returning to Bangkok Thai Restaurant to try the Pho.
Really love the food here. This place made me love spicy Thai cuisine. I recommend easing into the spice if you’re unsure you can handle the heat 🔥
This is a gem. Food is excellent and it’s worth every penny. The preparations are quick and the owner and staff are very kind (became friends with them) Had my meals every day at this place for the whole semester and this was always my to-go place. If you’re a UoI student, definitely check this place out :)
