Quality!! Food, service, entertainment - it has it all. Came here to celebrate “Fiestas Patrias”. While we ate lomo saltado and ceviche, we heard live music from a former singer of Los Kipos “Susana Santander”. The ambiance can be described as a “Peña”. We also enjoyed Pisco sours of Passion fruit.
The desserts were also on point. Freshly made churros and Lucuma ice creams. I would rate this restaurant in the top 5 of the DMV area. The owner of Don Churro has created a welcoming an exciting experience for all that goes beyond your standard Peruvian chicken joint.
This place is so good! We have been a couple of times, and have really enjoyed it. The food is delicious. They have a simple, but very good menu focusing on Peruvian classics. I have to say everything we have ordered has been fantastic. The servers are not only friendly, but welcoming. They act like they are really glad you came in. The atmosphere is cool. It is authentic without being a caricature of itself. To top it off, the prices are good for the portion sizes. Definitely a go to, and highly recommended.
Since Tilly's Kitchen was packed, we ended up eating lunch at Don Churro Restaurant, an authentic Peruvian restaurant that doesn't serve Peruvian chicken. Since we were heading to a brewery after lunch, both of us had an iced cold Coca Cola, which came with ice in a glass and straw. My friend had Chaufa Mixto, which consisted of Peruvian-style fried rice mixed with chicken, beef, pork, snow peas, red bell peppers, scrambled eggs, bean sprouts, choclo (Peruvian corn), and green onions and garnished with crispy wonton strips. I enjoyed the Lomo Saltado, which consisted of sliced tender and juicy steak sautéed with red onion, tomatoes, and cilantro in lomo saltado sauce, and served with fries and white rice. Both dishes were full of flavor and tasty!
We came here for a weekend lunch, and there was only one other table at that moment. The interior design was beautiful with a nice touch of things from Peru. Piqueo Marino had several seafood dishes combined into one, and it was pretty good. The pan con chicharrón was huge, and the chicharrón was also pretty good. We took out chupe. Although they didn’t have the camarones like chupe in Peru, they used shrimp to replace it, which was good enough. Overall, we had a good experience, and the food was authentic.
I was looking to eat good churros, that said I like Boquera' churros in DC. Whenever I search churros near me this place came up and one day I gave it a shot. Drove there 30 minutes. I tried caramel and salted churros. The crust was pretty good. Peruvian style paella was fine too but huge plate. The house made hot sauce coming w fried yuca was delicious. Staff is very friendly and restaurant itself very authentic. I will try other dishes next time.
The food was on point and the prices are very reasonable for the portion size. Their empanadas were great. They also have happy hour. Go get yourself some empanadas and cocktails! We will definitely be regulars.
Food is absolutely delicious. Service was very excellent. Not too much to rave about because it is quite simple of a restaurant but delivers everything worth coming in for! Highly recommend!!
Stopped for a quick bite while doing errands and was very impressed. It was 10:30 so I probably got the lunch menu.
I ordered ceviche tres ajies. This was absolutely delicious!! A generous portion of fish ceviche was served with sweet potato, hominy, and crunchy roasted corn on a nicely spicy curry-colored sauce. The spice with citrus and fresh herbs made this very balanced.
Inside was spare but cute with a prominent bar and figurines depicting traditional South American, maybe Andian life.
Located inside the Metrotech loop in the Lotte parking lot. This being “Little Seoul,” surrounded by Asian options, a Peruvian restaurant may struggle. I highly recommend trying this place and support diverse culinary options! You will come back.
Very good Peruvian food! Being from Miami and missing all things Latin American I can say this was like having a taste of home. Their Tiradiro is superb, as is the sauce. Recommend ordering rocoto chili for all the chili heads
Been here a few times. Everything I’ve ordered thus far has been quality and delicious. The portions here are also very generous. The churros are good. The arroz con mariscos which is basically the Peruvian version of paella was really good. The empanadas and salteñas were really good. Servers are decent. Only complaint is that on one visit it was the owner or manager who took our order and she was a bit standoffish.
Amazing food that I found "by accident" while searching for a place to eat that wasn't franchise food. Being from NJ, I am spoiled so this was a nice change of pace. The empanadas are a lot bigger than the traditional ones I am used to. Their seafood dishes are amazing. (see pics) For dessert I opted for the dulce de leche churros. Parking is a non-issue. On weekends, they have different things going on, so get ready to dance if that's your thing.
Ordered online. Simply amazing! One of the best (if not the best) ceviches and Lomo Salteado I've tried in the greater DC area. Portions are very generous. Would highly recommend!
I have a terrific time dining here. Food is pretty good but the big time for me is that they have Pisco at the bar for Pisco sours. On my second visit to Don Churro on my birthday I brought fresh nutmeg, bought them a micro planer from Williams and Sonoma, showed them how to make meringue and ever since they let me make my own Pisco Sours.
Hidden gem with absolutely fantastic food. Very flavorful and fresh ingredients, the dessert is to die for. Don't be fooled by the previous negative reviews, I came in a bit skeptical at first but my expectations were shattered. The restaurant has new management, menu and a very unique and modern dinning area. Would highly recommend to try this place out.
This place has such amazing food! They look to always have coupons so check out open table, groupons, yelp, etc.
Came here for a date night and started with two beers. They have crystal 🍺 beer! We ordered the empanada sampler so we could find our perfered empanada next time. Omg they are sooooo good! There was a cgeese filled one, a chciken, a potatoe and beer one, another beef ☝ and pne with meat and peas. They come with three sauces: a cheese based sauce, a (cilantro type but not cilantro) green one and garlic with herbs and olive oil (my fav!)..
We then split the steak. It came with steak, a sausage, bacon, plantains, fried rice with an easy cooked egg on top and beans on the side. Omg! So much food (which is why you split it). I love that I can share this on a date night cause the meal itself is like $17/$18 dollars. You need to try this!
Our bellies stayed happy and satisfied the rest of the day! They even told us next sat at 8pm they will be doing a salsa there. Sounds like they do some cultured events which is awesome!
