I have followed Cupcake DownSouth for several years. I think it was since the Retail Doc. used you in a great marketing example. Maybe 8 years ago. Well, I finally made it to Charleston, SC & visited your shop twice! I adore your cupcakes! The red velvet was moist & the icing was delicious! We brought a box home & we are still eating them! Your place it fabulous!

If you want a great cupcake, try this place out. I'm an avid baker and I just would like to say that the consistency of the frosting is perfect, the cupcake is always divine. I have been to many cupcake places from Charleston to Summerville and they are the best. And they always have great service. I would love to see a place open in Summerville maybe in the new town center they're building. I would even be interested in working there when that time comes.

Found this place on the internet while on vacay, jumped in the car and headed over. 1st they were more than accommodating when we requested light frosting. My hubby loves the chocolate cupcake while I love the red velvet, bourbon pecan, and the key lime!! The bourbon pecan and key lime cakes were baked perfectly with buttery edges, moist on the inside and full of flavor. The Red Velvet was also spot on moist with rich cream cheese frosting! A little pricey but worth it!!

Best cupcake place I’ve ever been to. The quality and taste of the cupcake is out of the world. The strawberry champagne cupcake is a must have!!

I love the After Dark selection, something I haven’t seen at any other Cupcakery in the state. Mudslide remains my favorite cup ever with Cookies and Cream not far behind (my wife loves Bourbon Pecan). Customer service is amazing, by the way. I dropped by a Fort Mill cupcakery at 3:10pm on a Saturday. They were already out of 3 cupcake types. DownSouth Columbia has NEVER been out of a cupcake flavor on a day or night that I stepped in. DownSouth is the best cupcakery in South Carolina.

Absolutely amazing tasteful cupcakes! They never disappoint. From regular cupcakes to vegan and gluten free this is your spot for flavorful cupcakes! Everyday of the week you can find a new flavor so it’s not repetitive. The staff is courteous and attentive! Small little shop on King with a great staff.

Top marks for these cupcakes! Cupcakes are one of those things that can ask several different people for the perfect cupcake and get several different answers. That being said, these fit my definition. Light, not dry cake portion, with a good healthy dose of dense frosting with flavor and substance. Definitively sweet without that being the defining quality. Family approved, and not too big to try more than one flavor.

I found Cupcake purely by accident while walking through Downtown Charleston one summer while visiting family on Johns Island. Holy. Cow! Their flavors change daily, and every cupcake is a delicious, mouthwatering work of art. I always make it a point to stop by when I’m in the low country.

We stopped in for a treat for our son. We had a great experience here! He loved his cupcake and we really enjoyed ours as well. It’s a great place to bring your kids for a little afternoon snack or after dinner dessert.

If you're downtown looking for a sugar rush these cupcakes will do the trick. The flavor selection here is bananas and I feel like they rotate their offerings day to day. If you were wondering about the large cake-size cupcakes for hosting a party or event I highly recommend them (you need to order ahead). The quality is as good as the normal cupcakes themselves and whatever is left over will easily feed you and your friends for days.

Cute cupcake shop. One of our favorites quick dessert stops. The kids love the window display so they can pick. A little pricey for a cupcake especially if you want one boxed for an extra 2.25 but that's why we never just order one ;) Super cute space, great location and yummy cupcakes.

No line. Cherry almond was delicious and I liked how they had a vegan option as well! Very pink cute place perfect for some girly photos!

Very tasty! Had the carrot cake and red velvet. Neither disappointed. Frosting on both was amazing.

I love this place! The variety of cupcakes they have is amazing! The only thing that bothers me greatly is that I can only get my favorite cupcake seasonally (French toast cupcake). The shop is cute, the cupcakes themselves taste gourmet and great! I've never had a particularly dry cupcake and I go often. But the best part is their sweet rewards! A free cupcake when you sign up and coupons throughout the year. Plus, I can get a free cupcake with every 7 cupcakes I buy! Not bad at all! Love it here and it's on the lower price range for gourmet cupcakes. Some places you can pay up to $6 for just one. Great place!

On my trip to Charleston I wanted to get ice cream from the place next door, but it was crowded and expensive, so I went in here instead and am very glad I did. It's a very cute little shop and the cupcake was delicious. The cake quake, where they put ice cream between a cupcake, is a brilliant idea. I wanted to go back a second time, but they were closed when I got there and I had to go home cupcake-less. I highly recommend this place.
