Down home soul food that is so good, you will swear someone's grandmother is being held hostage in the kitchen. The prices are extremely reasonable (Entrees $7.75 to $13) and the portions are ample. The service was a little slow, but the food was worth the wait. If you are in the Charleston area, please check them out.

I have no words. It’s like my Granny came back to life. Best collards and mac and cheese on Earth, and the crab rice is simple perfection. Great prices, friendly people. Only wish we had more time in town to work out way through their whole menu.

I was in Charleston for the Colour Of Music festival and my uber driver suggested we stop by Hannibal’s before we left! Needless to say the food was wonderful, the service was excellent and I’ll definitely go back again next year! Highly recommend!

Hannibal's is a must visit if you're in the Charleston area. The food is very good and the history behind the restaurant makes it more intriguing. It is comfort food but with a different taste. Many well known individuals have visited and shared in the experience. The service we received was welcoming from the moment we stepped inside. The atmosphere was on par with the experience. I highly recommend stopping in for the experience and delicious food.

1st time to Charleston and I Googled best southern food in Charleston... Hannibal's popped up, so we tried it. Wish Kansas was closer as we'd be here weekly! The staff was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was homey and comfortable. Food was phenomenal, in our opinion. I had the Hannibal's Crab Rice with shrimp and cabbage as a side plus a piece of cornbread that was perfect. The husband had the Collard Green Plate, and it was over the top as well!

A soulfull spot near the cigar factory. A welcome change from the usual offerings downtown. I had a delicious fish sandwich (portion was large, tasty and priced pretty well.) My friend ordered the chicken which he enjoyed. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a really casual, delicious spot to eat downtown. Note: be patient with the staff, they are awesome but busy!

I walked in and was greeted with a great Hannibal Kitchen welcome. The waitress was very helpful and knowledgeable of the menu. The place was clean, the bathrooms were clean. Inside and outdoor seating. The food was great. Getting a chance to hear the local accent was great too. They also have a bar and serve alcohol. The decor was rich of amazing paintings.

SOUL FOOD! Fantastic. Finally found great soul food. The only Black owned restaurant in downtown Charleston after 500 years. I ordered Cornbread, Yams, Bread Pudding and Mac n Cheese. I came back two days in a row. I'm a vegetarian 😋. CORNBREAD Cornbread was moist YAMS Yams were perfectly seasoned and not too sweet or syrupy. MACARONI AND CHEESE Macaroni and Cheese was on point. SERVICE Impeccable. MEAT Although I don't eat any form of meat, BUT the dishes all looked bright and flavorful. FISH The fish looked great and was a popular item. I asked the people how their meals were and they said they were fabulous 🤩 Cons Not advertised in Charleston. You literally have to ask a person for a referral. This is not their fault.

Hannibal's Kitchen was outstanding! My fiancee and I had the Crab Rice with collard greens, and a Fried Chicken quarter with Red Rice, Mac and Cheese and Cornbread. The food did not disappoint. The real standouts were the Crab Rice and Red Rice, must haves if you go. And the fried chicken was the next best thing on our table. Our server was helpful with her recommendations, and friendly throughout the meal! Definitely worth a stop!

If you want Soul Food, this is the place to go!! Gabe, our waitress, was very friendly, kind, knowledgeable, and she greeted EVERYONE with a welcome and smile! The food was fantastic...not only did I clean my plate of collards & rice, I cleaned my pork chop bone (which was fried to perfection) YUM! Rounded out my meal with a healthy chunk of cornbread, some things you just gotta have. My food was delicious, and I plan to return again....and again....and yup, you guessed it, again.

This is where the locals go for good soul food! Try the liver, gizzards, crab rice and pork chops if you don’t try anything else. There aren’t many true soul food places, cooked by and owned by the people that make the food great. Hannibal’s is definitely one of those places. Whenever I have company, this is one of the first places I bring them too. The food is always consistently good. The locals are always in here. I have been coming here constantly since moving here over 12 years ago and this place never disappoints. It looks as if they renovated the inside and out side to accommodate more people . I love it. Each time I walk in, I have been greeted immediately and my order taken if there is no line. Even though the locals love this place, the crowd always seem to be made up of people from all over. I think our secret is out! Kid and dog friendly. Not sure of the accessibility. The parking is not too great. #Ttip: do not try to find parking on the street. If you park in the wrong place, you WILL get a ticket. Drive a little further to the left of the building and use the parking lot on the corner bordering East Bay.
