First visit, had the mahi which came with a very soft and huge tortilla. I have a big appetite and although portions were less than what other Mexican restaurants offer, flavors were over the top. Mahi was delicious as were the guacamole and salsa. Can't wait until the next trip!
Heaven in my mouth. Guacamole........OMG.... delicious!!! I could not stop eating it. I cannot wait to go back.
Here's to a great new choice in the Charleston area!!! Our food was absolutely delicious and the wait staff was so friendly and welcoming!!! To great success!!!!

I have been twice recently and had great lunchtime experiences. The wait staff is friendly and prompt, the food delicious, and MUCH more authentic than other Charleston choices. And $6 lunch specials? Can't eat many places that cheaply.
I would highly recommend Mi Cocina de Amor. The food, service, and atmosphere were all excellent.
Top notch. Far and away one of the best restaurants in the Kanawha Valley. The best Mexican joint by a gringo mile.
The best! Not like all the other mexican food. Can be spicy or mild, all you have to do is ask. Courteous staff, fantastic owners and the best margaritas in town. You must try this place.
This is a fantastic hidden gem..completely authentic cuisine, very relaxed..I love this place..
Authentic. Wow, what a treat! As many Mexican places there are around here, this one is doing it right! Have enjoyed chile rellenos, chimichangas, and some amazing guacamole. Go here if you want to enjoy the most authentic Mexican food in the area.
Go visit!. Nice place, great food/service. Julia, Frank and staff are fabulous!
Owners are fantastic. Always remember us and treat us kindly. Food is flavorful - love it!
This place is amazing. Many Mexican restaurants advertise they have authentic Mexican food, but they are all the same, and their food starts to taste good only after three or four margaritas. But Mi Cocina de Amor is a diamond in the rough. It's the silver lining in a dark sky of reprocessed Mexican joints. You seriously need to make this your new Friday night food spot. You will be totally blown away.
Great alternative if you want Mexican food. My 2 visits to this charming little restaurant were great! A small, cozy venue, decorated with care. Waitstaff friendly, prompt, informative, and attentive.
Definitely different offerings than the usual Mexican food available in the various Mexican restaurants around charleston whose menus are indistinguishable from one another. Chef came out and greeted all patrons, both times. GO AND EAT SOME GREAT FOOD!!!!
The restaurant was cozy and the service was great. The food I received was flavorful, portions were large. Overall it was a wonderful little spot once you can find parking and get over to the building. I'd highly recommend stopping in and giving them a shot. They had a wonderful drink menu as well.
Eclectic local boutique eatery that serves up massive appetizers. We ordered the El loco pollo nachos for dinner. We added pico and queso, and when we picked them up they came out in a half sheet pan. Easily enough to feed 4 people. They were loaded down with toppings, the only indication there were even tortilla chips was a few of them peeking out the sides. The chicken was shredded and had a tomato like marinade. Very flavorful. We also sampled one each of the cherry and apple empanadas. They weren't bad, but we'll pass next time.
Food was delicious. Husband had bacon cheeseburger tacos and I had a Mahi Mahi taco. Both were delicious. The live band was a plus for the outdoor dining. Thank you Chef Drew!
We went to Mi Cocina for my 21st birthday, and I was astounded!! The manager, Linda, was more than happy to make vegan customizations for my whole family. She made our experience so pleasant. I even got a surprise birthday dessert: a cinnamon waffle taco with caramel apples inside and a candle on top. I can’t wait until next time!
