This place is, by far, the best bbq I've ever had and well worth the trip from Louisiana to hunt it down! The people are SO friendly. They sat us down inside to serve us the bbq platter even though it is curbside service. That bbq chicken and bbq sauce is unforgettable! Awesome experience and Guy Fieri on DDD is how I found it. Gus and the crew, yall are doing it right over there! Thank yall for the top bbq experience while visiting NC! Everyone needs to go eat there.
I have to drive about 40 miles one way but the food and service is worth every mile. I have had about everything on the menu and never got anything bad. They have the best onion rings anywhere and I love the Cherry Lemon Sprite.
I love this place. I had to take my mom and grandma who’s 98 and came for a visit. They love it too. Now they understand the flavor I’m talking about 🤗❤️The taste is wonderful! That pulled pork is to die for.
In town for a few hours for the night & needed to eat. Nothing better than a local place & this one was good! Friendly service, great food & super busy...which is usually a good sign that it’s a go to place.
I know some people hate the five stars but if a restaurant earn it, I have to give it to them. The food was not greasy no salty. I got some chicken livers and he comes with fries and coleslaw and I also bought the barbecue sandwich and I have to say there is by far one of the best food was ready in a matter of 15 minutes the servant came outside to pick up my order, he was really pleasant to talk to and explain me the menu. Indeed, is a place that I will go back. The prices are very cheap compared to all the restaurants around in the quality of the food is above the price.
Excellent BBQ, fries, onion rings and service.
Old fashioned place that I’m glad still exists. Their fried seafood is also very good!! Quick and friendly folks running it. Legendary place!
Guy Fieri rarely steers you wrong when it comes to amazing Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Finally got the chance to visit a classic drive-in BBQ joint that was highlighted years ago. In addition to fantastic grub at a decent price, the founder and owner since the 1950s waited on me personally! I didn't have enough cash to save the 3% from using a credit card, and he told me not to sweat it. Stud. Struck up a healthy conversation, and when I went to take a picture of Guy's poster in the window for Emily Brown Theodore, he came out and posed for me. Full belly and full heart. ❤️
The food and the service was great. There is a good variety of BBQ options here. Its close the airport and easy to find.
My man Stan brought me my order and asked me, “Can you hannelit?
Ten minutes later I asked my man Stan, “Were seconds included in my combo?”
Stan was my server at the Bar-B-Q King. He was great! The food came out fast. The BBQ was 🔥! I really like the vinegar based bbq in North Carolina.
I definitely recommend this place!

Great food great family thank you for all the years of great food
A delicious blast from the past. I ordered the minced bar-b-que sandwich, onion rings, and a Coke. The bar-b-que sandwich was really good. The sauce on the sandwich gave the pork great flavor but was not overwhelming. The onion rings had a perfectly crunchy batter on them and the size of the regular order is huge. Service was very quick and friendly. I'm sure the carhops, who seemed to be older gentleman, are loved by the regular visitors. I was there at approximately 1:45 p.m. on a Wednesday afternoon and there were several other cars. This is clearly a very popular drive-in style restaurant.
Now this is a place that serves authentic southern fried chicken. It’s amazing how hard it is to find places like this in Charlotte that get the breading just right. This was my first time here and the guy who took care of me said I’ll be coming back before he even took my order, and he was right!
Finally tried it. Best chicken livers in Charlotte. Nice service.
How have I never been here before? We were catching a Theatre Charlotte show at Warehouse 242 and, lucky for us, the first two restaurants we stopped in had longer waits than we had time for. Bar-b-q King to the rescue! Definitely a 50s vibe. You pull up to a speaker, order, and a server delivers your tray (not on roller skates though!). You pay the server, and there is a 3% surcharge for a card, so cash is good here. I got a grilled chicken salad and sis got a chicken club. Even though I'd never been here, I had the good sense to order the onion rings. Definitely a good choice. Light, crunchy, perfectly fried. Next time we'll give it more time as we ended up having to get to-go boxes, which were delivered promptly. Love it. Will go back!
