Wouldn’t recommend going here for buffet. It is over crowded and food is always cold. They have better service at ala carte.
The variety of food is very authentic, true to its roots - the southern part of India. Flavors are distinctive to every dish and not like the usual- one sauce for all the items on the menu.
New restaurant on North side.Went for Buffet.Lot of varieties.Authentic South Indian food.Taste is good. Will visit again.Service could be better.
I'm pleased, but surprised to be Godavari's first review on Zomato. I don't know how long they've been here, or even truly where "here" is. I'm staying at a hotel in the area and walked out to see what was available. I followed my nose to Godavari (I have a nose for Indian food). As I sit here, my nose is telling me I'm in a happy spot! And the ratio of "real Indian people" (always a sign of authentic cuisine) started at about 22:3, and got higher in favor of real Indians as the hour progressed. In the background, Bollywood music videos play constantly. The wait staff are all Indian. English is not their first language, but I had no difficulty communicating with anyone. They wear casual clothing (not uniforms) which makes them initially more difficult to pick out from among the other diners.
Browsing through the extensive menu takes a while. There is a lot to choose from, including a large number of pure vegetarian items. Sadly, I'm not here at lunchtime so there will be no buffet, and it's just me, so I can't have a wide sampling of delightful southern Indian dishes. I wish I could invite myself to a couple of tables where whole families are eating (I'd pay for my share!). I had to narrow it down to one selection. I ordered a spiced lamb curry (gongura mamsam) and some naan. The prices of everything on the menu seem both reasonable and inline with expectations, if not perhaps somewhat on the lower side of the bell curve.
Before the entree came out, I was brought a plate of papadam (deep fried crispy chickpea chips). Little things matter — the tamarind sauce is some of the best I've ever had, sweet, sour — and thick! It's often runny and not so rich at other Indian restaurants.
It took a while for my food to come out. Obviously, it was not ladled out of a pot, but made for me. The portion size is massive! I need not have been concerned about getting enough to eat for my money. This is definitely great value. And now to taste...
Wow! I've never had anything quite like this. According to an article I read a while back, science has shown why Indian food is so delicious. Rather than a blending of flavors, Indian food maintains a delightful contrast of flavors with a multitude of spices. Different nuances in this dish shine through over a spicy background that warms noticeably, but never overpowers. I'm going to have to take half of this home tomorrow. My boys won't forgive me if I don't.
The verdict: Godavari is fantastic! My dinner was amazing. As I walked out, I glanced around at other tables and saw a multitude of things I would love to try. These will have to wait until I come here again. I don't know when that will be, but I hope it's soon!
Tried Sunday lunch first time and not much crowded. I took masala dosa and a Chai as it was bit early. I liked the dosa and masala was delicious. The chutneys are pretty decent. Green chutney, I thought it was made of coconut, but not felt like that. The Chai was exceptionally good, nice cardamom flavor. Must try.
I ordered Dum Mutton Buryani for take away as well. Surprised by the quantity. It's a lot. Well enough for 2. Lots of meat and masala was really good and I can taste the flavors went into the each meat pieces.
My first visit is very satisfying and planning to visit when possible.
BTW, lots of parking on the adjacent parking lot and few on the road as well.
Decent restaurant. Was my first time here. Except the tandoori chicken, all other dishes were spot on. Tandoori chicken has room for improvement. I thought the meat was not fresh. Will revisit yo try out other dishes.
Food, service, atmosphere were all excellent. Prices are good for the fine cuisine! The chef came out to ensure we were pleased with the food!
First time trying Godavari. The service was very tentative and food was served in a fashionable time, still hot. We had tried different plates and appetizers. Not everything fit my pallet but glad I was able to enjoy trying a lot of different things. The Naan is good as it should be. Curry lamb is a must have as well as the chicken 555. Not the best Indian food I've had but still worth trying out.
The food is very good, the service is quick and there is a wide variety of selections, but not all are available, so be sure to check that with the waiter as you order. We ordered Chef's Sp. Mutton Biryani and tandoori chocken and it was goood. Although the seating is a bit congested, which makes feel like people from side table speaking/whispering in your ears, but I guess that is due to the fact that the space is small itself. Also the bar wasn't open when we went, but that maybe because they might haven't gotten the license yet. Overall it was a good experience, would go like once every 2 months kinda place.....
I was visiting Charlotte with my brother and we were craving good Indian food and this place just hit the spot. Loved the soft juicy paneer and the garlic and bullet naans! Highly recommend trying it out for authentic Indian food.
This place was recently opened and has made a comeback from the one at the University area. We had been there on Dusehra and all we could eat was just Veg. But must say we did not regret eating here. The food was delicious, in addition to the ones in the picture we had Butter Naan and Paneer Butter Masala as well and the Naan was freshly made and soft so was the Paneer! We were well attended and the price was reasonable as well. Would surely revisit to try the Non-Veg part of the menu !
1st visit :

I ll update my review again after my 2 nd visit.
Been to this place multiple times and the taste has been pretty consistent. Staff is very friendly and the service is great! Liked all the Andhra style food we have tried so far. We always go here when we don't feel like experimenting and want to eat something familiar. Great portion size. Good service and friendly atmosphere guaranteed :)
Food was so good! Especially You can enjoy typical South Indian food and street style crispy gobi manchuri so👌👌 Thanks Godavari!! Loved it.
Great Indian food. The place is very clean and welcoming. Our server was AWESOME. She was well informed on the different foods on the menu. She also recommended some delicious appetizers for us.. Thank you Vegita. 🤗
