Phone interaction while placing my order was pleasant. Let the young lady know it was my 1st time there and she was honest in letting me know their chicken wings weren't jumbo as usual. Due to her honesty, I still ordered. Parking is tricky and if not careful, an accident so I would definitely park in the back of the building if possible. Inside was clean for the most part and very organized. The food was very good and tasted what I'm used to back home except with jumbo wings but she definitely asked me to try them again for a better experience on the wings and I definitely will ma'am š.
I picked up from China Bowl in Charlotte North Carolina. I moved here from New York City about a year and a half ago. I keep having an itch for Chinese food and Iām always disappointed. I decided to give it a try and was pleasantly surprised. Was it like New York City Chinatown, no, but probably one of the better Chinese meals I had here and it was takeout. I had the sesame chicken combo with fried rice and an eggroll, the pork dumplings and the boneless spareribs. The portions were generous, except for the pork dumplings. Everything was good. The sesame chicken was crunchy amd saucy and the shrimp fried rice was flavorful and not soggy. The boneless spare ribs were a little dry, but had good flavor. Would definitely order from them again.
As a Charlotte native I remember this place when it was a grocery store owned by the same family who ran the liquor store behind it. Liquor store still there and great prices but this Chinese food is great. All the NYers all point out how they are from NY and know Chinese food. Well i lived in Manhattan for 10 years (worst experience ever, but I made alot of money) and its not as good as those local places there but for charlotte the food is excellent.
This place always stay busy so I recommend ordering ahead but their food is delicious. this place is takeout only. they do accept card/cash. the service is quick but there's always a line at night, especially on the weekends. its only because the location is small and the paying area has very limited space. but well worth it!
Not the best looking spot & probably not the cleanliness either- but the food and service are good. Food is take out only. Takes 10-15 minutes and nice & hot. Lacks in visual but makes up in taste... Otherwise it's perfect for a quick bite before heading out or if you want rainy day & netflix vibes. They've been here a while but only recently have I checked them out. I want disappointed.
Some of the best house fried rice and egg drop soup Iāve ever had! great chinese take out with a great price. 10/10 recommend.
Update:
Seem to be OPEN AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!
Update May 2nd. Reporting live from the parking lot - the crash seems to be repaired and hopefully the culprit has been sentenced to at least 18 years in a medium security prison. Hopefully they will open soon.
UPDATE: incredible establishment. Unfortunately today surrounded by police tape and a quick gander suggests someone drove into side of the building? Would be a shame if someone forgetting to engage reverse ends this legend of a place
I ordered door dash from here I was craving some sesame chicken and this place had good reviews on door dash. I saw they had quite a few reviews on Yelp about having really good hot wings I thought Iād give those a try too.
When the food arrived it was hot and still crispy. Everything I requested was in the bag.
The wings are called buffalo it not any real spice to it kind of sweet with a small amount of spice. They are crispy and a good size for the price.
The sesame chicken came in a tray that looked small but it was plenty on the tray once I started eating it was more than I could consume in one sitting. I added vegetable fried rice instead of the plain fried rice and it was worth the up charge to me. The vegetables were perfectly cooked.
The meal also comes with a egg roll I was able to request a vegetable egg roll. It heated up nicely the next day.
Craving Chinese takeout here would be a good place to try!
Iām in big trouble now for finally finding a place with the best crab rangoonā¦š« that is my absolute favorite thing on the planet, and this place makes it very very well!! Four stars because I wasnāt as crazy about the sweet and sour chicken, but Iāve never been a fan of chicken nugget style with the sauce to pour over. Just personal preference! To each their own. However I will be a regular for the crab rangoon!!!!šš
Edit: I should just not order sweet and sour anymore. Didnāt know everyone makes it like that lol. Iāll be trying sesame chicken tonight!!
Bro bro itās the best orange chicken I done had. Make you smack yo mama
I don't want to toot my own horn, but I am somewhat of a take-out Chinese connoisseur. Evaluating a Chinese take-out spot is similar to when a college football scout is trying to piece together next year's roster. You are looking for certain intangibles thatĀ scream you've stumbled upon a star. Pulling into the China Bowl parking lot for the first time is no different than watching Cam Newton take his first snaps for Auburn or Kelly Clarkson walking into that American Idol audition room; it's a moment engrained in history where you are sure that something special is taking place.
You may be wondering now, what on earth are the intangibles that this lunatic is raving about?Well, for starters, it's as barebones as it gets. I'm pretty sure they converted a fast cash building into a kitchen that pumpsĀ out 200 crab rangoons a minute. There is absolutelyĀ not a place for you to sit. You go in, interact with a nice girl working the front desk, take your food and a pamphlet made on MicrosoftĀ Word 2002, and you get the heck on your way.
On top of the purely business aesthetic, the food is fantastic. By far the best General Tso's Chicken I've found this side of the Mason-Dixon. The Lo Mein noodles wrap you up into a blanket and tell you everything will be alright as you battle an excruciatingĀ hangover.
Lastly, it is as cost-effective as it gets. You could feed a family of four for $30, or in my case, you can feed a gluttonous, hungover 30 year old twice in a day. I always tell my wife, we need to stop going to Food Lion; let's just grocery shop at China Bowl. It might be the only strategy to survive the rampant inflation we are facing.
Take it from a pro; you won't regret going to this place.
It's a small building but the food is great and the service is awesome!! Sesame chicken and any of the wing flavors are really good. The person that works in the front really knows what she's doing, she never gets my order wrong no matter how big or picky and she knows how to handle multiple guests. Been eating there for about 13 years.
Chicken Fried Rice is delicious!!!! My partner eats the chicken and I alive the Rice It is delicious!!!!
the chicken and broccoli here is the best chinese food i have ever had in my life. hands down, no questions asked. i know that sounds insane, and it might be, but my opinion will not change. it was also pretty cheap.
Okay, all i can say is great take out, great food for this tiny place. It packs alot of punch. And where can u get great and big flavored wings and rice of your choice for $11.99. Try the sesame wings and the vwgetable fried rice. WOW! I am tryinf to make my way through the whole menu!
