The wait is horrendous and the app they use only lets you check in if you are within a certain radius. If the wait is over an hour, you will end up waiting even if yoh were 30 miles away. The food is good, but they could use more variety in terms of breakfast items like FlapJack's.

Big fan for years. I've been a fan of the O.P.H. for years now, ever since the freebie, throwaway tabloid for metro Detroit listed them as having one of the 10 best breakfasts in the metropolitan area. I used to patronize their Birmingham location at least once a week. they remind me of what the IHOP USED to be and SHOULD be, although they, too, have followed the IHOP's example and purged their menu to try and be more than just pancakes. BIG MISTAKE.
whenever I go out of town, I try to find one to patronize. missed my chance during a recent trip to florida, so I did a road trip here from J.C. on the 4th. they occupy a former BBQ joint, hence the hunting lodge theme that someone commented on. In their earlier years, they did not build their own facilities but rehab'ed what someone else had built (exmaples: SOuthfield and Birmingham in Michigan, their New Andersonville ("Atlanta") location in 1987, their Miami and Ft. Lauderdale locations (1988-1989). In the 1990's I noted that they were building their own, new facilities in Miami and Jacksonville.
I had their apple pancake with a side of hash and both were wonderful.
I asked about the orange juice and was assured that it was squeezed to order except in busy times when they might squeeze some in anticipation of demand, but it does not sit around long like someone else complained.
very much worth the road trip and I will visit them again. They close early, at 2:30, so it makes road trip visits tricky. have to leave on time and allow time for delays.

Fantastic. Full menu of pancakes and other breakfast foods. Great blueberry pancakes and the blueberry compote syrup is hot and fresh. They also serve fresh squeezed orange juice that actually tastes like an orange. These are the best pancakes I've had in the St. Louis area. Be careful of the after-church rush on Sunday, but even then still worth the wait.
Two words. Bacon Pancakes!!!
Excellant and original. Full menu of all types of pancakes and eggs. I started drooling so I did not bother to read the rest of the menu. DD had chocolate chip pancakes (lots of choc chips), DW had potato pancakes which are very potato-ey (and fabulous) and I had the Dutch Baby (so excellant I had no leftovers). We also had a side of hash browns (hint of onion), eggs and toast. I meant to take pictures of the food, but it looked so good, we all dug in immediately. :-)
You can expect to spend $10-15 per person but it will be worth it. OPH was busy at 10:30am but the wait was short. With a full house, the service and attention was good. Juice is squeezed fresh, coffee was good.
THE best pancakes I've ever had! And my first time to ever have fresh squeezed grapefruit juice -- Wow! The prices are a little high, but it's definitely worth it. Get there early or be prepared to wait. If you're lucky, you can snag a seat at the breakfast bar; it's first come first serve.
When I grow up, I want to be a pancake!. My oh my! They put magic in their pancakes. I'm not sure what the secret ingredient might be, but the pancakes are sexy good. AND my favorite dish here is not even pancakes, but the Sante Fe Omelette. Spicy and cheesy. I wish I could lose weight by eating them. Then they would be perfect. Service is great - even when they are crazy busy - which they usually are. Enjoy!
Big yummy portions of pancakes in every flavor, omelettes, bacon, sausage, pigs in blankets, Dutch baby, and they can make any pancake GLUTEN-FREE!
Bacon Heaven. One of the great things about this restaurant, is fresh food. Some reviews complained about the pricing of the food. I believe, if everyone knew that all the food is fresh and nothing is out of the box that could change their mind. I am a very hard critic on bacon but this bacon is heaven. If you get a chance to eat here try the bacon.
Not a place to go if you're in a hurry. Good food, but you're going to waIt...to get in...to get served...to get a check. Weekends are ridiculously busy, food is overpriced but good. Belgian waffle with fresh fruit, wonderful. Omelets are nice.

Awesome Food, Awesome Service. We went to this place while in from out-of-town on the recommendation of the vegetarian omelette by an avid meat eater. We got there, noted that it was fairly busy for a Tuesday morning at 10.30am, but went in and gawked at the photos of their food scrolling by us on a digital photo frame. Upon wondering aloud what something was, a woman popped out, told us about the item, and got us seated right away. From there, we ordered two of the vegetarian omelettes, one with mushrooms, one without... and we upgraded the 3 panckaes on each order... one to blueberry pancakes and one to a blueberry waffle.
Upon arrival, I double checked that mine was the mushroom-less omelette, and our waitress (Jessica) said, yes... I picked into it and spotted mushrooms. Meanwhile, my boyfriend had covered his (my) omelette in hot sauce and chowed down. She apologized for giving me the wrong one, promptly made me a new one, and the manager not only comped the omelette, but the upcharge on the waffle... all because she mistakenly placed the wrong omelette in front of the wrong person. How's that for AWESOME customer service? We really didn't expect that! I just didn't want those icky mushrooms!
Anyway; we LOVED the food -- ALL of it and we can't wait to return when we're in St Louis (or, better yet, get one here in Kansas City). Definitely worth the wait if you come at a busier time!
Delicious!. Love the pancakes! Especially the banana and the pecan ones. A bit pricey for breakfast food, but the food is delicious, and the service is very good!
Worth the wait! We were told 30 minutes and added our names to the list. Seats opened up at the breakfast bar so we grabbed them. Our server, Marcus, was a delight. Got to sample the Dutch Baby (wonderful). HUGE omelets. Fresh squeezed orange juice while you watch. Everyone was friendly. Worth the drive, the wait and the price.
Delicious! Great service & good food are always a good combination. I appreciate the attention that was given and when the wrong food came out not only did they remake our meal but the tab was on them. Did i say the food (pancakes & omelette) delocious.
I usually eschew most national chains, but I'll keep going to the Original Pancake House where ever I come across them in my travels.
