Great place to be! The hostess and servers were very polite and greet you with a warm smile.
The service is great, professional yet friendly people work here.
Great for pretty much every occasion!
The fried calamari was light and tasty. (Get it spicy)
Food was great, good portions and delicious.
The pastas are perfectly cooked and have a lot of flavor. A good amount of seafood in the pasta too, they do not skimp on the portions here.
The chicken was juicy and had a great sauce.
Tiramisu was fine.
10/10 place Highly recommend.
Located off Michigan Avenue in Streeterville, this place can be a great spot for a date. It is also one of those places that offer a nice bar area to sit and eat. Typically Italian affair but high quality. It is saying something when such simple items as Cesar salad and fried calamari surprise you with great flavor and fresh ingredients. Also have good selection of wine and cocktails with attentive bartenders. Cannolis are also very impressive. Not a cheap place to visit but highly recommended.
My friends and I had a dinner outing at this classic Italian restaurant, and I'm glad we made reservations as it was packed! The staff were in constant motion, serving dishes and seating customers. The dimly lit interior added to the cozy ambiance. Given the busy evening and our large group, we skipped appetizers, but they did provide free bread with olive oil and parmesan cheese. I ordered the clam linguine, while my friends got the gnocchi and squid ink pasta. All three dishes were substantial, but my linguine leaned towards the drier side and the pasta was a tad undercooked. It could have used a bit more oil or sauce, but the flavor was exceptional, a solid 10/10! Our waitress was very patient, especially considering one of our friends arrived late. She offered excellent recommendations and was so pleasant. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try for a taste of classic Italian cuisine in Streeterville!
If you're in town visiting or live in Chicago and want good Italian food this is the place! This is the kind of place where the managers come around and ask you how your food is. The staff does a great job making sure you have a wonderful experience. Food was delicious and the portion size is generous.
Probably best to make reservations. Open seating at the bar when available. Seasonal patio seating. Don't miss out!
It’s kinda traditional Italian style. Big menu and options. I can’t decide what to have lol
we had pizza and pasta and fish. Pizza was thin crust. Pasta with quid ink and seafood was great. I like the pasta noodle is perfectly cook. The staff are profession. we were enjoying the dine in here.
Opened about 25 years ago, as I was living in Chicago myself and ate here on average twice a week, for four years. 20 years later I'm back in Chicago for the first time since....and the food is as good, the place doubled in size but didn't lose its local charm and great attentive service. Drinks are fantastic, the tomaot sauce is as good as it gets. Simplicity and timeless classics all around, from the pasta dishes to the fantastic lamb chops. Did we mentioned the meat balls? So good.
To sum it up: I wouldn't revisit. The restaurant was bustling with closely arranged tables, limited pasta options, and high prices. Unfortunately, there was no pesto sauce available. The appetizer we ordered, with cheese and salami, had an unpleasant odor for pork and low-quality cheese.
Food:
The food tasted great!! We ordered bruschetta, eggplant appetizers, ravioli and Gnocchi. Extremely delicious!!!! The creme brûlée and tiramisu was 10/10 too!
Service:
The service however was bad. I had ordered the ravioli but I got spaghetti instead and I was extremely confused and thought the ravioli was under the spaghetti😅, until my cousin pointed it out saying I dont think that’s ravioli. So we called the guy who served us and said there has been a mistake. He said “Oh I thought so something wasn’t right! I remembered you said ravioli”. Mistakes happen I understand, but if he knew that it wasn’t my order why even serve it to me in the first place!!🤷🏻♀️ Also, we noticed that all the other tables were being checked if they needed anything but not ours, which we felt was weird!!
Atmosphere: Too loud and very congested! Ambience was okayish!
I was craving a bowl of pasta while on vacation and found, Volare. The food was outstanding. The service was probably the best I've ever received. My husband and I absolutely loved it and if we're ever back in Chicago, will definitely be going back.
My compliments to the chef! The food was perfectly cooked, seasoned well and beautiful in presentation! I started with a chocolate martini... an item that i order at every restaurant I go to. This one makes my top three in the country! Ive had a lot of chocolate martinis and i dont take that statement lightly.
I had the filet mignon and it was the most tender I've ever had. We also had linguine with lobster tail that was amazing. I had the banana tart for dessert and that was smooth on the inside with a flaky crisp crust. Magnificent!
The service was brilliant: quick and very friendly. I honestly wish I lived in the area so I could go back again and again.
I love Italian food and make my own pasta at home. This... this was the best Italian meal I've EVER had. The pasta was perfection. The flavor and the texture was amazing. I'm from out of town (about 2.5 hours away). I would drive here for dinner again.
The lobster squid ink pasta was delicious (definitely enough to feed 3). The Caesar salad was solid, though the oil from the anchovies made it a bit too fishy for my tastes. The pizza was wood-fired, but it was pretty average. The crème brûlée was nice. The tiramisu was a bit too sweet personally, and portions were definitely for 2.
I had the most amazing meal at Volare! Chicken parm with the vodka sauce was incredible. The wine was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed everything we had. This is such a charming restaurant in the midst of so many high rises. We enjoyed dinner on the patio then moved to the bar for after dinner cocktails. Great evening. I can't wait to visit again!
I love this place and will be back. The chicken Parmesan was amazing lasagna on point. Our server made great wine pairing suggestions. The tiramisu was a dream. The calamari was also good! They were also very friendly with my toddler.
You will love it, I'm sure! I love Volare Signature Insalata Di Mare, because it was so fresh and awesome. Spaghetti Neri Al Pesce is one you should not miss, because it was the best ever. Oh, don't forget Tiramisu - not too sweet, not too heavy, but it was just perfect. All staffs was so professional too!!
Best Italian food I've ever had!! Everything I ordered was delicious. The price is so good too, especially with the large portion they serve. The server was extremely attentive. This will be my must stop restaurant whenever I travel through Chicago. Best meal I had here. We didn't have a reservation super early, but called an hour ahead they reserved a table for us an hour from calling (it's a Monday)
Awesome service and huge portions. We were a group of 30 and the waiter never missed a beat. Highly recommended
