Wow, if you love chocolate definitely stop here. It is right after the bridge over the Chicago river. The sipping cocoa is delicious. My son had the salted caramel hot cocoa. And said it was great. Very fast and efficient service. Very clean establishment.
I've been frequenting Ghirardelli in Chicago since 2007! The first time I bought one of their sundaes, they were $7. This location in Wrigley's building is far less crowded than the original location next to Water Tower Place. There is always ample seating. Service is very quick. I always get the treasure island sundae with the hot fudge and straight-out-of-the-oven ooey gooey brownie! They have a nice selection of chocolates and gift packs to take back home. My favorite being the trolley. This location has nice restrooms. The men's rooms require a code which you can obtain from the cashier or person taking your order. For strollers, use the elevator. The doors are large enough for a double stroller to glide through. The people working there still continue to wear masks which leads me to believe they really care about health and safety.
Oh yeah, destination forsure! Fun and festive and all that, but most importantly the chocolate lovers milkshake really is that good. Absolute 10/10 there, and from what everyone else got in the group I was with the consensus is that it's the best thing on the menu. Worth checking out forsure!
Chirardelli is located in the heart of Chicago, making it a convenient spot if you're craving chocolate or ice cream. However, I found their ice cream with all toppings and milkshakes to be overly sweet for my taste.
The 2nd floor was packed and super crowded
Not many seating although there are more space that they can add chairs and stables
The World Famous Sundae was really good!! I feel that for the price of 15 USD it is worth it. Huge serving for two
Ordered the non-dairy fudge sundae (I am lactose intolerant) and it tasted better than most vegan/non-dairy ice creams. Very smooth texture with indulgent rich fudge.
Only delta is that it is pricey, $20 after tax for most items. However the views make up for the cost.
The ambiance is great, and since it is an official chocolate shop the wait is long and the prices are high but the hot chocolate was great and worth it. The chocolate strawberries were great too.
Best Hot chocolate in the city! Not to mention the other stuff they have such as ice cream and chocolate.
Came here with my friend for a hot chocolate, we were looking for something “Christmasy” but they were sold out so we settled for this. It was so creamy and delicious, towards the bottom it was so thick, we requested extra milk and they gave us for free (grateful for that)
Nice and calming atmosphere, nice staff too.
While visiting Chicago in October, the temperature dropped and even started sleeting/ snowing one night. I went into Ghirardelli’s shop and grabbed a salted Carmel hot chocolate. Downstairs is a chocolate shop and up stairs is a full service ice cream and coffee shop.
Make sure to go to the second floor for actually buying stuff since everything that you see on the first floor is on the second floor as well and a lot more variety for that matter .
There’s also hot chocolate and other specialty Ghirardelli drinks on second floor as well.
Get in here, get in here, get in here!
Guys!!! just when I thought ice-cream couldn’t get any better, OMG these flavor was next level. The smoothness, the richness, the way it didn’t melt, the size of the scoops, the crunchiness in the chocolate coated cone. Sighsssss, the satisfaction and joy I felt, can’t be expressed. Beautiful scenery to match it all and the ambiance was lovely. 🥰
Great place to go after river walk ; especially if you have kids and you are tourist.
Many old couples also come here to have rare deserts they eat !
A WAY MORE BETTER PLACE THAN STARTBUKS ROASTARY , if you have to choose one !
Good deserts , chocolates , views
Came in here to kill some time before our 45 tour on the river.
Ghirardelli chocolate is soo good, I buy from time to time at a regular grocery store (way cheaper).
I bought a $10 tin with chocolate inside.
My son wanted a few pieces of chocolate so I chose a bag to be weighted.
For 5-6 pieces of chocolate was $4ish. Expensive on my opinion.
We have a Guirardelli in San Diego and find their drinks and treats waaay to sweet. Therefore we skipped the second floor altogether.
But if you want to try their dessert, the second floor is for you. Elevators are available for those who might need them.
The young man working on the first floor was very helpful and service was great!
It is always a good time for a chocolate and an ice cream, on the second floor you can find a hidden treasure because they have a beautiful view of the river, you can have your ice cream enjoying the wonderful view, for me one of the places must see in chicago.
The sundaes were amazing. They were so rich, we probably could have split it. You definitely need to stop here.
