What a delightful experience! We had lunch. The baguette was crunchy, and warm and perfectly accented by the butter and jam. The French onion soup is the best I’ve ever had. The service is top-notch.
We had a very nice and professional waitress (I do not remember her name, but I'm sure she will be recognized by my description). She was wearing glasses I believe, we went there a couple weeks ago. We celebrated a special occasion and picked this restaurant for its location, atmosphere and food experience. We loved the ambiance. The sauce on the escargots was delicious. Good quality steak, but the fries were a little burnt. On a different note, good wine and tasty deserts. We were pleased to see that our waitress was such a pro too. Everybody we interacted with was very nice and polite. There was an older gentlemen who kept making sure we had water and our table clean as our waitress was supplying us with food recommendations, fast service and a good vibe. From the beginning to the end, she kept the standards high and she seemed real. None of that fake smile, or if it was, we couldn't tell. She did a great job playing her part in our beautiful dinner experience. Thank you!
Mon Ami Gabi is truly the French charming restaurant from all aspects : food quality, service, atmosphere and interior decor. All factors create the awesome dining experience. We had seafood platter, house salad with avocado, trout almondine, mussels ( French bread is perfectly made) and apple tart. Thank you Chef, Mark ( amazing server) and all the team. Everyone is friendly and attentive.
Food was incredible! Our server was also fabulous and very attentive and patient. We were out on a rare date night away from our son and took a while to order - never rushed us and was awesome! Food and drinks were all delicious and we cannot wait to go back!

I’ve been to Mon Ami Gabi for the past 20 years. It’s my favorite restaurant in Chicago.
Tonight was especially wonderful.
The ambience, the food, the service, the music, was so perfect. I was celebrating my 66th birthday and it’s eating at Mon Ami Gabi tonight made it one of my most memorable birthdays ever.
Reservations recommended
thank you Mon Ami Gabi.
Ooh là là, I was a little food drunk after we left this place! The restaurant is inside of a gorgeous building in Lincoln Park right by the lake and the zoo. The atmosphere is breezy and friendly yet sophisticated. Everything we ordered was absolutely divine, but the knockout winner was those warm Oiishi prawns. I wanted to drink that lemon butter (and did). Extra points for having zero proof cocktails on the menu!
So mad that I didn't take a picture of the mussels or escargot. Aw man! Everything was AWESOME!! I cannot even go into details of how rich, buttery, fresh, decadent every item was. Even the bread made me want to live another day. I originally didn't even want to go. I'm glad I did. Yum! Cannot wait to go back for the mussels and bread along with the steak and fries!
Family and cozy spot in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. It’s a great location for a date night, or a family gathering. It gives you a warm feeling.
The food is tasty, and high quality. You can never go wrong with the brunch menu.
For dinner, the steaks are the top choice for me.
I recommend this place as a safe bet if you want a cozy and intimate gathering with your loved ones.
The location is easy to find, and they have seating inside or outside. We made reservations ahead of time because we were coming in from out of town and wanted to make sure we had a spot. Parking was an issue, however, they do have valet parking if you pay $15. The atmosphere was sophisticated with dim lighting. Our waitress was somewhat attentive. The food was excellent. My sister had an Expresso Martini , escargots as an appetizer, small pot mussels as the entree and chocolate mousse as a dessert. I had a hibiscus mule to drink ($13), roast chicken as my entree ($30) and a glass of Riesling ($14). There was a restaurant charge on my bill for I believe $1.77. definitely not the cheapest place to go to but a great experience and delicious food.
This restaurant is a triumph of French cuisine and human experience.
You want the bread and butter. You want the steak frites. You want dessert. Also, not a red meat eater? You want the salmon.
Every part of the meal was simple, but meticulous. The waitstaff were attentive. The atmosphere, quaint and homey.
