Big portions with vegan options! Really make it your own from pasta shapes and add ons, still got food quickly during lunch rush! Spiced bruschetta was tasty and I created my own pasta dish. Huge plates for a reasonable price.
Great pasta, made to order and fresh as! Excellent, would recommend this place to anyone visiting or living in Chicago.

Understood, even us older folks on a extremely busy Friday night. One salad easier feeds two, pizza easily feeds two, the pitcher of � topped it off. And considering the prices in the Chicago area can't beat these.
What a neat concept in dining! We easily fed our group of 12 and enjoyed the atmosphere.
Had this for the first time in DC and fell in love so happy to find a Chicago location. Much different than DC louder and busier but still very good! Fresh pasta and nice atmosphere, highly recommend!
Excellent. The chefs prepare your food fresh and right in front of you. Great conversation with them and they get your food just right. Definitely recommend if you're in Chicago.
I love the food, service and atmosphere. I'm especially fond of the Vapiano cosmo. But, they changed the recipe on me� . The only request I have, is to change Vapiano cosmo back to it's original recipe.

My wife and I went for our "Wedding Celebration" Lunch! We loved it and will be back again when we return to Chicago in the near future. The culture, the atmosphere, and the food are what makes it great! You must try it!
This may be the most amazing special ever: A fresh, made to order pizza pie (good size, maybe 12 inches) and pitcher of German beer (a real pitcher, not a mini! And real beer!) for $11.95. I liked it so much I went back and ordered a second round last night. Keep up the good work. And the great deal!

We stumbled on this exquisite restaurant. We had been searching for new experiences and new is what we got. We had our own personal chefs. Deanna was beyond amazing! Each chef ensures you know exactly what you’re ordering and caters to your palate. They wanted to be certain our food would be exactly what we wanted. Using a card to keep track of our expenses was different for us, as well. If you’re looking for a unique dining experience, VaPiano is the place to go!! If we ever return to Chicago, VaPiano will be on the menu!

The atmosphere is very laid back. The hotdogs are total chicago. I love their grilled tuna. They also have good pasta dishes. My husband says Chicago hotdogs are the best.
Vapiano has this amazing italian, I visited this place twice during my two days in Chicago, and this place gave me perfect pizza, agli olio pasta and perfect cheese cakes for my meal, they have a gud service and friendly staff.Keep it up ..Will surely visit during my next stay.
This place was terrific!! The pizza was both chewy and crispy. We enjoyed it so much we went back the next night! Great selection of pastas and anti-pasta also. The ordering system is easy after you do it once. The only miss is the bowl of gummy bears that everyone digs their paws in upon leaving. Gross.
This place has amazing pastas and they make it in live kitchen so you can customise your dish a bit.
The pizzas are average but the pastas are a must try.

Vapiano is one of my favorite restaurants found in multiple locations around the US. There cafeteria system & their delicious food makes for a memorable experience. Their use of flavor is mouthwatering and their attention to detail and quality is incredibly respectable. I enjoy the cafeteria styled system (meaning that each person goes up to a line and request their dish). However, during the dinner rush on Friday this system was not working. Costumers, myself included, were standing and wait (because seating was full) for about 15-20 minutes. The staff, despite their rush, were very accommodating and friendly. Overall the experience was a good one. Delicious pizza & salad for only $15.
Food was great. They allowed custom dishes for the littles. However, the line for pasta was ver disorganized. We were in one line & one of the chefs came out to direct us to another one. The chef we had was very personable. Told us it was a great time to come in as they are celebrating 2 years.
Great Fast Food Italian. They have wide selection of items which is nice. The pizza I had was really good, so I'll be back to try some other items.
Vapiano puts a nice twist on Italian dining. There's a DIY feel to the whole thing that makes things casual in a creative setting. I really enjoyed the pasta and the salad. Since they invited me out, there won't be a Pearl rating, but I hope you check Vapiano out sometime soon.
I was very impressed with the style of the service. You order at a kiosk and it spits out a buzzer to let you know when your meal is ready for pick up. The food was good for what it was but the portion size was not as proportional to the price. However, it being in downtown Chicago I can let the inflated price slide but I would like to see the savings on food servers shifted to a lower price in food. That being said the host that did greet us and explain how the system worked was very welcoming and funny. There were charging stations for your phone but you needed to download an app to use them. All in all the quality of food and service was satisfying.
Really good pasta that's a cute concept. They give you a card & menu, and then you tap the card @ each station when you order something. You then pay when you leave. I ordered the Crema Di Funghi which was really tasty. I recommend this place. Really nice ambience as well.
Absolutely loved this place. We went for lunch prior to seeing Hamilton (they gave us 15% off for having Hamilton tickets). A unique way to order, but it was quick and very accurate. All of our food came out quickly. There was plenty of open seating. Atmosphere is relaxed and modern decor. Also, they have a bar if you're wanting some spirits before the show. I'll be back!
It was my first time at this restaurant! Great selection of pizza, pasta, risottoand salads. There is a lot of seating available. When you come into the restaurant, you will receive a card and they will charge your card and you pay right before you leave the restaurant. Your pasta is made fresh and right in front of you and you can mention any specific food preferences that you have. We had to wait in line for about 20 minutes. The food I had was delicious and I loved the desserts as well. The interior decor in the restaurant is interesting too! The staff was very friendly as well.
Pasta and pizza were good. Love the atmosphere and how you order. When you arrive you get a “room key” you then go to each station and order what you would like. They do not have waiters. At the end when you are finished you take your card to the register to pay. I am giving it a four star because a friend I was with ordered a dish that did not state that it had jalapeño peppers, but were included in her meal.
Very different style of dining but very enjoyable! The pasta was AMAZING and the pizza was very good as well! Prices were very affordable and the ambience was hipster. There were little basil plants at every table :) I'm impressed
Food was fantastic ! Portions are very big. This was split between me and a friend. Got a Caesar salad with bolognese pasta. We decided to try some happy hour drinks and got the white sangria which wasn’t to our liking. The girl at the bar was kind enough to switch it for us to some prosecco which did not taste good either but we settled for it as not to start a fuss. Unfortunately the other girl at the bar named Samantha was very rude and unpleasant. Made us uncomfortable by being dry and giving us cut eye. Overall great dining experience !
This place is a must to visit. Great Italian food. It's fast and inexpensive. Have also a glass of wine. Water is complementary. You don't have to tip since there is no table service so it's fantastic for a nice lunch and you don't have to spend lots of money. Go after 1:30pm since they can be super busy during a lunch time. You'll enjoy for sure. Wifi for free. You can even work here.
Interesting venue for fresh tastes in a wide variety of options. I had the shrimp spinach pasta. So flavorful! Friendly and helpful service. Everything you order goes on a special card so you can pay for your personal selections. Select your choice from the menu, get in line for your choice and in a few minutes you have delicious food. Pizza was excellent.
Expensive place to eat but was delicious. The chefs make what you want on the spot as you watch them. I had the bruschetta and the risotto pomodoro (too salty). They have a card system where the chef will scan your card everytime you add something to your order. An inbetween place of fast food and sit down dining.
I was happy that they were able to split the pizza in half so me and my mom could both customize our side. They did charge extra for this. The crust and toppings were very good, but I wasn't a fan of the sauce. It was kind of sour to me.
a perfect place for a semi-casual semi-formal occassion. around $10-16 a serving. pasta is great! try the scampi it's delish. the pesto is also good just add a bit more salt. cheap selections of good looking desserts. great for photos too! generally, a good place to eat when you're in the loop 💛
I love this place. My boyfriend has visited 3 vapiano around the world, and he said that this one is one of the best. Food was delicious as usual. Every time that we go we order something different, and so far no disappointments. The best part is that they do they're very own pasta and you can watch them through a window. Great dessert variety.

Pros: Innovative set up, nice decoration, creative center piece on the table(fresh basil and rosemary on the table), wide variety of food, they make the food in front of you. The apple cinnamon tea was awesome. They have zoodles(zucchini noodles) which is great option. Overall I liked the main food but I preferred less oily.
Cons: The menu should have the calorie content of the items which it didn't. I didn't like the service. The bar tender wasn't nice at all. The food had too much oil in it. The bruschetta bread was too thick and very different from real bruschetta. The chocolate cake wasn't good either.
I came across this restaurant when I lived in Germany, so when it came up in my google search during my Chicago visit, I wanted to give it try...My worry on my way there was ‘I hope they wear gloves in this location’ lol...thankfully they did (because the ones in Germany didn’t wear gloves when they made the food). So A+ plus for wearing gloves.

You literally watch them cook your food and they ask you how you would like it or what you want added to it while they cook it!!!!!! And the food was delicious! But they have small glasses so you have to keep getting up to refill your drink. Yeah no waitress/waiter?!? Still delicious though.
Fast and fresh pasta. You get to interact with the chef that cooks your meal. My chef was distracted or tired that day but I still found it to be a novel and interesting experience. A great place for a quick meal if you're busy. If you can eat at a more leisurely pace then I'd recommend visiting one of the many Italian restaurants around for better quality and service at the same price.
My Amtrak train didn’t leave until 2 and this was just the place I needed. I arrived at 11, before the lunch crowd, and service was fast and the food was fresh. The prices for the food quality and atmosphere were very low! They have charging stations at the table, kiosks to order at and a beautiful view!
If you stop over at Union Station, stop by. It’s fast, but not fast food.
It was my first time dining at this establishment and I was very satisfied with the service. I had chicken alfredo and it was delicious. It was creamy and filling, just how you want your lunch to be. I had the chance to choose the type of pasta and witness the magic of my lunch being prepared about 4 feet from the kitchen. It took about 5 minutes to prepare it and was hot bowl of deliciousness. Originally, I wanted to have a lasagna but they discontinued that.
They have some different options of pasta and pizza for vegans and the rest of us carnivores. The prices are very reasonable and the ambience is just wonderful. I can't swear by the other meals but if the chicken alfredo was any indication then the other meals will also be good. I highly recommend this place to satisfy your desire for comforting carb and look forward trying out other items on the menu.
