Cantina Laredo sets a high standard for quality Mexican food at a reasonable price. We went here on valentine's day, without a reservation, when we thought every restaurant in the city would be fully booked. They seated us immediately, and the experience was flawless. The portions are balanced so that even through multiple courses I was satisfied but not too full. The drinks were great as well. I recommend the tuna tacos as an appetizer, and the al pastor fajitas for the main course. For dessert, we shared a wonderful mango tres leches cake. I foresee myself returning to this restaurant whenever I'm craving good Mexican food.
GREAT EXPERIENCE! Our waiter was beyond friendly and did everything he could to make sure we were satisfied. He knew the menu very well and made great recommendations. He even cut the cake (we were allowed to bring in) for my friends birthday. The food was spectacular and the table side guac was fresh and tasty. I don’t have one bad thing to say about this place. New favorite Mexican spot!
The food is okay...had better Mexican cuisine. Very nice atmosphere and decor. Excellent service. They make fresh guacamole right by your table and it was too acidic. They made a better one upon request. The tacos were good.
My wife and I absolutely loved this place! The decor is awesome with perfect table lighting. Chips and two salsas to start: 1 warm and a little spicy, the other cool and mild. Then we ordered a couple of tasty Margaritas. My wife's was very strong but that's not a problem. For an appetizer we got the ceviche. Interesting presentation but very flavorful and a good size. Then for dinner we got barbacoa and carnitas tacos, respectively. The barbacoa tacos were delicious but the carnjtas tacos were the best I have ever had! The Chipotle wine sauce they use just made the flavor burst in my mouth. Highly recommend getting them. Lastly, when we didn't have any room decided to still order some flan. It was very moist and tasted good, thus meeting my expectations. Overall it was a fantastic experience with amazing food and the prices weren't bad either. Definitely a gem!
Perfect fine dine experience. It was like best of all world coz you get to it Mexican food in a fine dine restaurant.
Food and service both were great and so was the ambiance.
The place is worth your time and money
Cantina Laredo provided us with a great experience through and through. I planned a meal here as part of my Mother's birthday weekend and emailed them in advance inquiring about vegan options, as none were labelled on the menu. I got not one but TWO replies from separate people breaking down all of the off menu vegan options.
Cut to the brunch - we are seated immediately. My initial chair was wobbly, no matter, I switched it out for (unfortunately) a much older gentleman to sit in it later on. Sorry! Our server came over and announced that the brunch menu includes a mimosa. Awesome! I informed the server about the secret vegan food we were looking to get and he went back to check with the kitchen. My mother was impressed that they brought out another chips and salsa without having to ask. We ordered the veggie fajitas which also came with rice and beans.
Everyone enjoyed their food. A manager came by and chatted with us. All in all we were quite satisfied!
We had the special drinks for winter they were good. We all enjoyed our dinners chimichanga, enchiladas, relleno de camarones all were tasty and well prepared. Atmosphere was wonderful and modern. Decor was simple but elegant. Staff was knowledgeable and nice. The churros were tasty but mixed reviews on mango sauce. Brownie was heavy and had more fudge-like consistency. Wasn’t a fan of the brownie. It should be lighter like a flourless cake so it’s not so weighty at meals end. We did enjoy everything else.
Ambience is good, service was great but I honestly did not like the margarita, not much tequila in there, and tacos weren't that tasty... My wife and I agree on that. Tamales were great.

Reviews didn’t do this place justice! I thought it was amazing! Loved the environment. Higher end, not an “authentic” Mexican environment but I loved the higher end aspect to it.
This place is beautiful. The staff is great. The food and drinks are delicious. Went for my birthday and I didn't want to leave. Loved it.
The pollo en tomatillo was on point! Chicken was a tad dry, but the tomatillo sauce was by far the best I've had. Ordinarily I don't finish all of my food, especially after munching on chips and salsa. I finished my ENTIRE plate here! The employees were bright and friendly. Our server, Juan, was wonderful! The restaurant itself was clean, had very modern architecture and tones, and the atmosphere around 3 pm leading into 4:30 pm was quiet but social! Highly recommend!
loved it !!! the service at the bar 5 stars !! she was so nice , then when we moved to the table the new server Pablo was amazing so nice , I had the chicken tacos mango something like that , delicious ! drinks and the dessert top of the top ! very cool place , well located ! I will be coming back with my husband!!! very recommended
i had the CAMARON POBLANO ASADA. (Shrimp, mushroom, jack cheese stuffed poblano pepper wrapped with a fire-charred skirt steak with chimichurri sauce, charred street corn and cilantro lime rice)
and it was GREAT! I ate every single thing on my plate!
Our server was great, everyone else seemed pleasant as well!
everything was reasonably priced
Great place with an amazing ambiance.
We entered with no reservation and there was a 30min wait. We sat on the bar instead. I ordered a tortilla soup which was Ok. Favorite thing is the simple yet amazing chips dip that gets served for everyone.
Came here for my birthday and the food was very homemade and delicious. I order a carne asada plate and an original margarita. They got a super spicy salsa ... you got top ask for it other wise they will bring you a mild one. And since it was my birthday they brought me a churro with a sparkler !!!! Very unique.
So different than regular texmex... I could say this is real Mexican food. Great beer, and the service was so nice.
Great location! STL as a city is really putting themselves on the MAP as far as places to visit, shop, dine and enjoy. I was very impressed. While I know this is a franchise, we have one of these in Chicago as well. I'm just happy to see STL developing neighborhoods that are trendy with a large city vibe.
I had a good time here. I love the fact there were bottomless chips and salsa. The guac was delicious. The Chicharrones? A nice touch. Casa Margaritas x 2 (pomegranate and then mango)were soooooooo good. I had the enchiladas, which were decent as well. The real star here was the dessert. I think passiin fruit was in the drizzle. A party of 4, with multiple deserts and options around 200 bucks. Not including the tip. Dope night out in Chicago.
