We had breakfast here today. Decor is bright and cheery. Restaurant is clean and service is good. They have traditional breakfast fare but also more creative dishes. We would definitely go back.
I was here on Tuesday morning with a colleague. It is an excellent breakfast spot and I've been here a couple of times before.
The restaurant is open and bright with big picture windows facing the street. On all of my visits the staff has been courteous and helpful and service from the kitchen has been quick.
The food is excellent - great omelettes and crepes, fresh juices and smoothies. The coffee is also well above average. Even the jams and sweet butter for your toast is great.
It is a little pricey - about $50 for two for breakfast - but the quality of both food and service make it feel like a reasonable value. I'll be back here the next time I'm in town.

Well ladies and gentleman, after a couple years I finally granted myself a Meli lunch. I'm fairly certain I made a mistake by not going with an egg dish. Or at least that's what I was told by multiple people. With that being said I truly cannot say one bad thing about the South of the Border salad. It was exceptionally large and fresh. It was the first time I've ever requested a to go box for a salad.
My mom and cousin both ordered a wrap. And whoa baby - like seriously, they were the size of a newborn baby. It was insane. But awesome because I was given the second half of my mother's wrap which meant dinner for free. My niece ordered the chicken fingers. Which came with enough pieces to feed a grown man.
Overall the ambiance was very much what I would want in my breakfast/lunch establishments. Warm & cozy. You know what wasn't warm and cozy? Our waitress. Hence the 3.5. She seemed to have zero idea what she was doing and wasn't friendly in the least.
BUT I'll probably go back. If only to try a breakfast dish and one of their bloody Mary flavors (cucumber?!)
Guests from out of town. Came during a very busy time and the party size was huge. The place was crowded with people waiting, very clean, welcoming and roomy. We were seated promptly and served quickly. The food came out and it was just mouth drooling good. Way to end a short trip in Chicago. Whatever you're craving this morning for breakfast, I'm pretty sure this place will get it right. And, (all really personal opinions) their strawberry banana was so good, I ordered one to go for the trip back home. I wish I took more pictures, but ... didn't want to embarrass myself and look too much like a tourist. =P
My Oh My. 1st visit here, in town overnight. Our Concierge at the hotel recommended we try this place only a block from the hotel and we took his advice. Glad we did! The atmosphere was very warm and inviting. For a Sunday @ 10a, we were seated quickly, much to our surprise. All juices are made freshly squeezed. I tried the Orange Strawberry juice and I can't say enough about it. If it weren't for the $4.50 price tag, I would have had more than 1 glass, but alas, I contained myself. My friend and I ordered from the daily special menu; Omelette w/jalepeno bacon, tomatoes, jalepenos, black beans and mixed cheese...I had the Steak & Egg burrito with chihuahua cheese. Our meals were great. The portions are comparable to the price, no complaints. Outside of missing salt, the food was very tasty. The kids had Chocolate Chip pancakes which they raved over. They even make their syrup, jelly and ketchup from scratch in house. Definitely a must visit spot on my next trip to The CHI!
Wow! The food was fantastic, fresh and organic and I loved it! It was worth the price I paid, this was delicious!
Quite possibly the best breakfast/brunch place in Chicago. Fantastic food and attentive service, in a new sunny location. Awesome!
This place is fantastic! I felt like every item that was brought out was prepared to just be classy and cute! The food was delicious! Coffee was delicious! And service was great! They had indoor seating and outdoor seating!
Lovely place. Great energy. Got vegan pancakes and friend got the crepes. Only thing is there was a drink menu with the coffees on there but they do have espresso drinks.
Randomly found Meli Cafe while searching for gluten free food near me. I ordered the Gluten-Free French Toast. It was sooo good! Perfect size, felt full after eating at that and a size of cheesy grits, but honestly would of been fine with just the french toast. Service was great!
We enjoyed our visit, we had a party of 9 and they were easily able to accommodate us. I didn’t here any complaints from our party regarding the food. I had the beet salad which was outstanding. The breakfast tacos very very good as well as all the other food. The service was fast and very good, always filling water and making sure we didn’t need anything else. I would recommend this place and certainly return.
OMG,As your reading this review, just start heading there. This is absolutely 1 of the best breakfast restaurants I've been to,,I'm a traveler and have traveled over 40 states this is definitely in the top 3 maybe 2..everything tasted so fresh from the eggs to the fruit..and the portions definitely was worth it,,it was 4 in my party and no1 took a thing back to the hotel couse there wasn't any left lol.. btw I had the Banana walnut pancake breakfast 😋
I've been here a couple times over the last couple months and the food is great especially these breakfast tacos 😁 definitely made my day! Dig in & enjoy
It’s was a great experience! Even though the restaurant was so busy , they was very kind, it was quick, clean and extremely good. We ate and didn’t feel any preside. And so the whole, people kept coming and coming (it say a lot, that might be a sign that it’s good) 🎉💪🏽👍🏽
If you want great food and great hospitality - this is the place.
Took my friend out for breakfast and was not disappointed. The veggie sliders are great, bottomless coffee is good, the blueberry salad as a side to the sliders is my favorite.
The dessert were great too!
I would definitely go there again soon and try out other vegetarian options! The chicken however could be slightly better - it was too dry but rest of the food and beverages made up for it!
Very glad they had a decent amount of vegan breakfast options and loved their juice selection (Pure Gold pictured and it was great). I had the Tango Topper for my meal and it was okay, fresh but could have had more flavor and wish the potatoes were seasoned better. The vegan pancakes HOWEVER were AMAZING. Not pictured because I was eating them off other peoples’ plates. 😅 Service was also great and it’s a nice cozy atmosphere for brunch.

The crepes were great! I got a crepe with berries and granola and my daughter got Nutella and banana. Both were delicious and mine seemed kind of healthy, lol. I would definitely recommend the crepes and I would go back to try their other dishes.
The food was excellent. These are the best eggs I’ve ever had. It was not too busy. I was there for work and the people recognized us because we ate there three times every day for breakfast because it was so good and the service was so friendly.
Everything is perfect, good food and the mimosas are cheap. Love this place 😍😍😍
Friendly staff, no wait on a Sunday morning, but busy! The apple crepes were amazing, breakfast tacos were great too, breakfast panini nothing special but no complaints either. Excellent start to our day!
Very nice experience. Food was great, we had caprese wrap, jalapeno breakfast bowl, meli's sunrise, chocolate chip pancakes and fruit parfait. All tasted very good. Hilary was great and responsive to our needs. Will visit again.
