Will always be one of, if not my favorite burger in Chicago. So sad to see this place closing, but was happy to be able to go one last time. The burger was as delicious as ever, and the spaghettios were both nostalgic and delicious. Had to get the scotch egg as usual as well.
Been a few times but since it is the place's last day I'll do a review. Already know I got the burger n fries with beer and shot special. The burger is top 10 in the city but imo not top 5. The burger come with caramelized onion, bacon, fried egg and is seasoned well. 9.0. It's not a small burger either, gotta two hand this bad boy and it definitely gets messy. Fries are ok but it comes with this aioli sauce that brings it together. It's a real chill bar vibe and the bartenders are attentive to make sure you are good while you are there. Sad to see this go, but the legacy will remain as a top tier bar for a solid burger. Overall 9.3

Had to revisit Owen and Engine one last time for dinner before they close. And it was a fantastic meal. We got the scotch egg, escargot scallops, pot of mussels and burger. Sad to see it close as it'll have a special place in my heart and stomach.
Last night is probably the last time I'll be able to get into Owen & Engine for dinner service. The owner has decided to close Owen & Engine at the end of summer. Thank you to the staff for an amazing evening!
The food was amazing as always! We went on their Tuesday night Burger Special that includes a pint of beer and a shot of whiskey. And this burger is my all-time favourite in the city! It is seasoned just right, with not too much salt. And the patty and ground meat is juicy - it has the right amount of chew from not being over handled and manipulated like with other burger patties. It is one of the few places that still gives you fries with your burger and served with a malt vinegar mayo that is perfect for dipping! As for the burger, I LOVE mine with a fried egg and cheese! It also comes with caramelised onions that add another decadent sweet savouriness to the burger! And their in-house baked potato bun is toasted with butter, ties it all together!
Now let me go back to the small and medium plates. I crave their scotch eggs! It is never over fried to make sure the egg yolk is still running once you bite or cut into it. The breaded pork casing is packed full of umami with an almost rustic savouriness to it. It's served with a stout-mustard that helps provide a touch of tartness to help brighten the scotch egg's heaviness.
We also ordered the escargot scallops. I love scallops. And to have them prepared escargot style with this garlicky-buttery topping warms the belly and my heart!
The staff are amazing! They are always so kind and strive to make sure your experience is memorable. And they continue to do it right up to the last few weeks. The ambiance is dark and warm. I love that about the dining area downstairs. It feels intimate without being stuffy. The upstairs is a touch brighter. But the lounging centre seating area makes it for a cozy dining area as well.
If you still can, make sure you try to score a reservation before they close! This will be a once in a lifetime dining experience for some amazing gastropub food (without the pretenses of many of those places)!
I will greatly mids this place! I wish the owners and staff great health and best wishes! Thanks for the memories!

Not the best picture that I have since the table was candlelit so sorry. Such a great burger, really one of the best in Chicago. The customer service was really good. So sad to hear that it's closing soon. Tonight was my first time at this place and I really liked it a lot. Great location across the theater, great music inside(they put j-rock songs which was awesome and different for a pub settings). I liked it a lot and I'll try to go once more before they close.

Super filling I couldn’t even finish mines. We also got a order of bone marrow super yummy must try if you have never tried it before. We also had the fried egg thing but it was ok nothing that would have me going back again for that.

Bone marrow:10/10
Fried Egg thing: 7/10
Service: 7.5/10
Classic English pub! There are many pubs in Chicago but none quite nail the full English experience quite like this one. Interior is beautiful, food is delicious, and staff is friendly. Guaranteed to have a good time
Kept hearing about Owen & Engine ranked as 1 of the best burgers in Chicago. I had to try that burger! We came right when it opened at 5pm. No tables or bar seats were open so we had to sit at the couch and coffee table are upstairs. There were a lot of tables open; so I wonder if it was a staffing issue. The cheeseburger tasted like French onion soup (onions and cheese topping) on a burger. It was very unique and tasty. I enjoyed it. The dipping sauce for the fries was tasty! I got my burger with the add on cheese, bacon, and an egg. Also, tried the bangers and mash which was delicious. 2 different sausages; both were very excellent. The gravy had a very homey taste which enjoyed very much. Always enjoy British food and this British Pub; Owen & Engine had good food. Lucky we got in. They have an up stairs and downstairs but still isn’t very big in there. If want to get a table vs coffee table. Probably should call the restaurant ahead of time to get a reservation.
Finally was able to go here and try their burger and it was amazing! For me it is higher on the last than au cheval. Atmosphere and service was very good, definitely recommend visiting them and trying different foods (scotch egg and carrots were very good).
Amazing experience! We sat upstairs and were treated very well! Highly recommend dipping the pork rinds into the French onion soup! Great beer and cocktail menu too!!
