The Duke of Perth has been my favorite pub in Chicago for a few decades now. Decorated with rustic antiques from Scotland, which gives the place a cozy atmosphere, you will also find the guests all talking closely together at the wooden tables. Top this off with a large single malt scotch whisky selection, The Duke offers one of the last great places in town (and especially in Wrigleyville to go to simply converse with friends or actually start up conversations with strangers at the small 10 seat bar. The fact that their are NO TVs and just a soft eclectic soundtrack playing in the background allows for no distractions while chatting with friends. Tasty beers (Best place in town for the Belhaven Wee Heavy - try it with a nip of the Talisker Distillers Edition), scotch whisky and some of the best fish & chips for miles. Come summer, their floral beer garden is one of the best kept secrets in town (even though it is advertised on the window. All this is overseen by the colorful Michael Miller, who has been behind the small bar for 27 years now. If you haven't been, you should visit Chicago's only Scottish pub owned by an actual Scotsman!
I've been coming here since 1993. I've never had better fish and chips anywhere in the USA. No place comes even close to the Duke for fish and chips and a nice pint of your favorite Scottish beverage.
Spent our anniversary there last yr. Loved it! Great food, amazing Whiskey Flights, including some impressive, hard to find spirits. Very friendly staff & knowledgeable bar-keep. Worth the 2+ hr drive it takes us.
Love coming to this place, but really bummed Blackthorn Cider is no longer on the menu. Hope it comes back!
Love the fish n chips! Great old-world feel to the bar and the patio is nice in the summer.
One of my favorite places, great service, great food, and a great pint!
We really like this place. Though im not really a scotch guy they have a ton of options so that is good. But besides that its a nice quiet restaurant pub without the constant noise of sports in every corner. There are no TVs here.
During good weather they have a nice back deck. And there Wed and Fri all you can eat fish and chips are great
I never miss a visit on my trips to Chicago! Terrific food and a great scotch selection. A real gem!
Best place in the states to get fish and chips. Great ambiance. Good food. Good beer. Favourite place to go. My dad was from Scotland and he thought this place was brilliant. You can't say much more than that.
Checked them out on Tuesday for their Prix Fixe. Either Cream of Potato with Chicken Soup or a Salad, Fish and Chips or Shepherds Pie and either Flowerless Chocolate Cake or Sticky Toffee Pudding. All for $15 per person! Huge portions! My wife ordered everything opposite of me and we split everything so we could try it all. What a wonderful meal! 5 stars across the board. Even our servers were wonderful. We will definitely be going back!
Best fish and chips, especially on friday. Great beers too, and friendly wait staff!
I've been coming to The Duke of Perth since the early 1990s. They have an impressive selection of whisky, Ales, and Ciders. No longer drinking, I come for a seriously good burger. My husband swears by the Shepherd's Pie. The staff are always knowledgeable and friendly. I enjoy the rear patio, but the plastic chairs are getting old and need an upgrade.
A great Scottish pub with a ton of authentic food options and a quaint dining room with a patio out back.
The Sheppard's pie was amazing and almost every table had it. I did a burger which was extremely dry but the blue cheese helped.
They have 50+ scotches on the menu but of the 5 we asked for they didn't have a single one.
Every Friday is unlimited fish and chips and I will do that next
The fish fry is really worth the 19 bucks! Wednesday and Friday it is all you can eat, make sure to go on one of those two days. We got an extra plate of fish, fries, and their darn good green peas! I love that they give you green sweet peas with the fish fry! Put the malt vinegar on the "chips" and enjoy! I've been here before. And again, good food, good service, and worth the wait! (We waited a half hour for the table. We went across the street to a bar. They called us when our table was ready!)
Best Fish & Chips in Chicago. Amazing whiskey selection. If you don't know which one consult the bartender. They'll know. Their Sheppard's pie and toffee sticky Po pudding take me back to England every single time. It's also lovely to have that European feel in terms of sitting. Sit where it's free.
Nice and cozy little place!
Was so happy they had Tennent’s Beer on tap!
Service was good, and food was great. Portion sizes were perfect. Loved that the place wasn’t full of tv’s and a ton of nonsensical noise. A perfect place for a cozy dinner with a perfect pint!

Everything in general was very good, the food, the service, the atmosphere, I ate a Haggis Burger, I would have preferred the Dish they previously sold (Haggis Pot) unfortunately they no longer serve it.
If there's one thing I could suggest reviewing, it's the cost of the drinks. In reality, the cost seems excessive to me, but honestly, everything is very good!
Best fried fish I've ever had in my life. Please make some time on a Wednesday or Friday evening to get the all you can eat fish and chips.
Look service nd atmosphere get 3 star for one reason they could use more bar bd wait staff. They are very friendly , honest about how busy they are nd would rather you know then have you wait unhappy.
The Fish nd Chips on the right night are all you can eat. The peas 🫛 are taste. Fish is crispy. The chips are fresh.
They keep their beer line clean which is a must for a good bar. The hard wood gives that classic feel. In the summer there is out door seating.
Parking can be a bit tricky but your walking distance from the train, got the Clark bus right there, your just south enough from wriggle field to not be over welmed by sport fans.
Duke of Perth try it out. Nd tell them the Bad Monkey King sent you.
What a cool place! Unique little restaurant that feels unaffected by any changing surroundings. Relaxed and charming ambiance. The service was awesome. Daily specials, including two for one entrees on Monday afternoon/night. Smaller beer selection but they have some interesting options. Some straightforward bar food plus Scottish inspired fare. The food was great. A super pre-theater option, just be mindful that the pies take a little extra time.
Closest you'll find to a Scottish pub. Best fish and chips I've ever had. All you can eat Wednesdays and Fridays for the same price as a single portion. Also try the sticky toffee pudding.
