Marcos and Family really makes you feel like home - a tight home - but don’t let the line coming out of the door discourage you: food was fantastic! Everything taste very homemade, the smell of pork deliciousness is all over but do not overlook the fresh made tortillas, the refried beans and the not-so-healthy Chicharrones. kudos to the whole family and I can tell that my visit to Carnitas Uruapan was one of the highlights of my Chicago Trip! My kids will voucher that. To “ruin” your diet a little further, go across the street for this little place called Xurros and complete your Mexican Feast.

For the Carnitas lover, this is the place. 1 pound of carnitas, fresh tortillas, onion, cilantro, salsa, and the beans = one happy customer.

Highly recommend the shoulder taco's! Very authentic and tasteful. Plan on grabbing food and going as there is no seating available. Would go back to get more tacos when I'm in town again!

This place is the real deal for Carnitas! The menu is very basic, but it is explained well in Spanish and English. They have a few other items, such as Tacos Dorados (fried tacos), but their speciality is definitely Carnitas. We purchased two kilos and easily fed 4 with several meals of leftovers. Grab some tortillas while you are at it - cheap and delicious. I recommend a "mixed" meat selection, as some of the cuts you would not normally try are super tasty!

Revision: these are probably the best carnitas in all of Chicago. Each taco is packed with fatty, salty and tender carnita parts from the pig. The price point is excellent for the amount you get. All the toppings are also included. The taco dorados are super crunchy but the amount of filling is inconsistent (one had hardly any filling). But the chicharrones are some of the best, especially the ones where there is a bit of fat still on the skin. This is a very small place with limited seating, best to take it to go. You will need to add your own condiments (eg salsa, hot sauce, pico), as nothing was added in the bag. Will definitely be back to try the carnitas.

I went to Chicago from Missouri, just to try the CARNITAS because we seen a show on Netflix showcasing this place, I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED 😁 the CARNITAS were just like we have in California...the ambience and the smell in the restaurant reminded me of east L.A. restaurants....the taste and the the portions were phenomenal 🌮...there's soo much meat in the tacos, that's its soo fulfilling... 2 tacos put me out 🥱 they were FATTY and all the condiments were provided also, cilantro, onions,& limes....the horchata was also delicious and tasted like I was back in cali..AUTHENTIC ✊🏼 Definitely will be going back whenever I'm in Chicago 🙌🏽👍🏼

We heard so many great things about the place but were always disappointed when it seemed closed as we walked by (we live in the neighborhood). Then we found out it’s more of a breakfast/brunch place than a dinner place, that’s why they close so early! Apparently they also sell out really quickly, so try to go early in the day. I give four stars though because the one time we finally had it, it didn’t taste very fresh, the pork smelled, and it was just very salty overall. Hopefully it’ll be better the next time we try cuz we’ve always heard such good things about the place. I was impressed though with how large the portions are for the price, it was a great deal!

We catered for our Department (Health) and wow! We fed nesrly 70 people and still had leftovers. The carnitas are beyond incredible, and I highly recommend them. And they came out on Good Network and demolished the competition! This is what authentic is supposed to be. Lovely people, too.

This place seriously has the absolute best carnitas I’ve ever had in my life. Sure there is usually a wait if you’re there on the weekend, especially Sunday, but the wait is well worth it. A few times I’ve had to wait for a table the owner actually started handing out free tacos to customers who were waiting for tables to open up. Like that’s a hospitality you don’t really see anymore at restaurants. Like if you’re not from Chicago you have to stop here and try the best carnitas you’ll ever have. Not just the carnitas, but everything else they serve up is phenomenal as well. Love the Chicharrón‘s in salsa verde, the brain tacos, give these people all of your money. Highly recommend this establishment for authentic Mexican cuisine if you’re ever in the Pilsen neighborhood, the pink line 18th street stop let’s you out right there too. Well came back after like 2 years and I’m sad to say you can no longer eat inside but it looked sooo much nicer and of course all the delicious food is displayed for you to select. Can’t wait to go back !!!!
