Finally my Southport 'hood gets an adult restaurant!! Billy, GM Francis and their great staff have launched a fantastic new spot in Chicago that rivals any restaurant in Chicago! Great food, solid wine list and attentive staff makes this Southport spot my new fave! Can't wait for them to open the patio!!
A gem. Great food. Wonderful wine selection and interesting cocktails. The bar is fantastic and airy. Just adds more class to Southport Corridor and a menu that will please. Staff is friendly and the place is bustling with good energy all around to make the food experience even better...
I have been here twice since they opened. Both times were exceptional and i really can't wait to go back. The perfect date spot. The staff are so friendly, attentive and are knowledgeable of the menus. Great selection of wine and beers. The FOOD...AMAZING! We have shared several different of the menu items each time and were never let down. Appetizer highlight, was the grilled octopus, cooked perfectly, I usually steer clear because octopus can be very chewy and rubbery but this was fantastic and it literally melted in your mouth. Next, the pizzas...perfect example of a Neapolitan pizza. the dough and sauce make it so tasty. For an entree we tried the Roasted Brazino, MAGNIFICENT!! The flavors were perfect and the crisp of the skin was to die for. And lastly, dessert. I will have to say my favorite is the Blueberry-Peach Crostata and accompanied by an after dinner shot of espresso. This place is a winner in my book. The ambiance of the dining room is so inviting and warm. I have been telling all my friends to stop by and try it out. I will be frequenting this spot.
5 Star restaurant in our 'hood! Finally! I love the adult atmosphere......granted my husband and I love kids but sometimes we want to stay in the 'hood and have a date night with similar clientele. The food is awesome....nothing on the menu disappoints. The wine list is fantastic and the service is above-and-beyond. And we love being on the outdoor patio. Yes, when they opened up as any new business and serious restaurant they had some unexpected growing pains. Know why? Because the place was ALWAYS crowded......packed is a better word......people were flowing in from the Brown line, the neighborhood and those at the bar extended their stay and ordered dinners there! Everybody likes to check out a new place and this one exceeds ALL expectations! So Coda di Volpe did what a first-class restaurant does......they fixed the MINOR issues, worked out the FEW kinks and stayed on top of everything. Mission accomplished! We live two blocks away and plan to be here on a regular basis. It's our new "go-to." Not kidding. It's that wonderful and it's uplifting and special to walk in a restaurant and be known by the owners and general manager. Keep at it, Billie, Ryan and Tony! You're doing great! We love 'ya! See you real soon!
The atmosphere was great the service was excellent and the corn ravioli was divine as well as the pizza..i will be recommending this resturant!
Really enjoyed the restaurant. Spacious and clear that they spent some coin designing and furnishing the space. While there are indulgence dishes at higher prices, there are also a number of very price accessible dishes that make it a weekday night, fresh-off-the-train experience as well. Big bar for eating. Loved the lobster pasta dish and the Neopolitan pizzas were very on point. Great job Chris Thompson and Billy Lawless! We'll be back.
Even an hour prior to a Cubs Playoff game, this restaurant provided excellent service. The staff was friendly, the food was fairly priced and absolutely delicious. The menu has high end yet simple choices and something for everyone. Children with a sophisticated palate would even enjoy this place!
I would go back again and again if I lived closer.
Cheers to your Staff for sharing their talents with us for lunch yesterday! The flatbread with pistachio pesto, mozzarella, and tomatoes was divine. Thank you to your GM and sommelier for the spectacular wine suggestions. This Atlanta girl was truly impressed and thankful to celebrate a visit with my bestie since 5th grade. Loved taking in the elegant view from our cozy, back corner table. Until our next visit...
This may be one of my favorite spots in the city. The service is always top notch and they make you feel like family when you are there. The food is always delicious and the specials are always off the charts. The wine list is yummy and have I mentioned the sausage pizza? It takes me back to Italy, I swear!! I am lucky enough to live right down the block and get to frequent this gem a lot. I hope they keep up the fantastic standard of excellence and hope they open more places around the neighborhood and outlying neighborhoods. Love, love, love this place.
We’ve walked by Coda di Volpe for years, however we’ve never stopped in for dinner. Friday night we did and we found our new go-to Italian restaurant! The minute we walked in the door we were greeted by smiling faces at the host stand and immediately seated. As we walked to our table we commented just how warm and welcoming the decor and lighting felt.
Our server Emma immediately greeted us with a big smile and gave us the rundown of the menu etc. Within minutes we had our drinks and the delicious Pork & Beef Meatballs. Shortly after the reservation manager Walker stopped by our table and greeted us making sure our table was perfect. He was so kind and has a very welcoming personality!
Throughout the evening, we had several servers and other staff walk by and say hello. EVERYONE was so friendly and it was evident they love working at Coda.
Our entrees Rigatoni Con Ragu and Spicy Mafaldine Di Granchio were some of the best pasta dishes we’ve ever had! The texture, flavor and temperature were perfect. We ended the night with the Hazelnut Caramel.
Do not make the same mistake we made by waiting so many years to try Coda out! I guarantee you will walk out of there already planning your next visit. Thanks to all of the staff for making our night perfect!
Coda di Volpe in Chicago offers a delightful Italian dining experience, highlighted by its delicious food and excellent service. From the moment I entered the restaurant, I was greeted with a warm and welcoming ambiance that set the tone for a wonderful meal.
The standout dishes of my visit were undoubtedly the pizza and the pasta special. The pizza, with its perfectly charred crust, was a harmonious blend of flavors and textures. Topped with fresh, high-quality ingredients, each slice was a testament to the authenticity of Italian cuisine that Coda di Volpe prides itself on. The pasta special was equally impressive. It was expertly cooked to al dente perfection, with a sauce that was both rich and nuanced, showcasing the culinary prowess of the chefs.
What truly elevated the dining experience was the exceptional service. The wait staff were not only friendly but also incredibly attentive, ensuring that every aspect of the meal was to our satisfaction. Their recommendations were spot on, adding to the enjoyment of the meal.
Overall, Coda di Volpe stands out as a gem in Chicago's culinary scene. The combination of delicious, authentic Italian cuisine and top-notch service makes it a must-visit for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. The pizza and pasta special, in particular, are dishes that should not be missed.
Highly recommend this Italian restaurant. Service was outstanding -- especially since these days it's spotty. The food was excellent. Hand the focaccia with the whipped ricotta -- to die for! Had the margarita pizza (thin crust) -- especially good and had the rigatoni ragu with sausage -- spot on. 😊
We came for lunch and had a great time! Their pizza was incredible and the drinks were definitely well made. Even the space was perfectly casual-elegant with impeccable service. I could see this becoming a fancier spot for dinner. Our small selection of food blew us away and we’ll definitely be back to try more.
Over the last 7 years I have publicly reviewed less than 10 establishments. It takes so far "above and beyond" to impress me enough to write a review- especially in the restaurant category. I highly recommend Coda di Volpe to anyone looking for a memorable night out.
I came for dinner service on a cold weekday night in late November for my wife's birthday dinner. Before even getting to the day of the reso I had received a text from the restaurant not only confirming the reservation but the spelling of my wife's name for a special arrival surprise. Fantastic elevated service touch.
When we arrived in house the welcome from the host stand and operations manager were genuine and felt sincere. The service from Cameron was extremely attentive and unique- a welcomed change from what seems to pass as acceptable service these days.
Cameron was knowledgeable in all aspects of the menu and could confidently answer questions and give suggestions for our drinks and meal. Managing several larger parties simultaneously Cameron never missed a beat, he was always available and in the 2 hours we were there I never once noticed him not on the floor working.
Not once did I feel like we were waiting or rushed in the timing of courses. A food runner error (or 2) was handled with grace by both Cameron and the manager to quickly recover and seamlessly continue our evening.
Portion sizes were excellent, food was elegant, wine was delightful, and the entire evening didn't break the bank- 10/10 will suggest to friends and family and I will return again myself!
Ah, Coda di Volpe, where the ambiance subtly whispers "sophisticated Italian villa" and the food loudly proclaims, "Mamma mia, that's delicious!" Stepping into this establishment feels like being teleported straight to Italy, minus the jet lag and the over-enthusiastic street performers. It's as if Leonardo da Vinci and my Nonna had a decor battle, and both won.
As for the food, each dish seemed to have graduated with honors from the University of Flavor Town. The pasta was so authentically Italian; I half expected it to break into an opera aria. And the pizza? Crispy, chewy, and with flavor that was out of this world.
But the real star of the evening? Our waitress, Catie F. I haven't seen someone juggle plates, orders, and funny anecdotes quite like her. It's as if she trained at the Harvard School of Hospitality with a minor in acrobatics. She even remembered it was my birthday! Mamma mia!
In conclusion, if you're seeking an Italian experience that’s a delightful blend of gastronomic brilliance and decor that tells a thousand tales, Coda di Volpe has you covered. And if you're lucky enough to be served by Catie F, well, brace yourself for service so good you might just attempt to say your gratitudes in Italian by the end of the night. Grazie mille, Coda di Volpe!
I made a reservation here for a group of ladies of a bachelorette party and it was the most fabulous experience I’ve had during a night out from recent memory. They did a great job with little details to make the bride feel special from menu customization with the her name on it, welcome champagne, and fresh flowers on the table.
All the food was amazing - you can’t order a bad thing here. We got pizza, a couple of the pastas, wine, and desserts and they were all to die for.
Lastly, our server was the sweetest most thoughtful woman and handled a bigger group perfectly.
I can’t recommend this place enough!
had a great experience at coda di volpe! we sat outside on the patio and really enjoyed the food and ambiance. we had the tuna appetizer and it was delish! also enjoyed the branzino, ragu pasta, and spicy sausage pizza. the pizza is served with scissors to use for cutting it into slices which i think is unique. would definitely come back here again and recommend it to friends!
Amazing gluten free options - pasta & focaccia. Ask for the chili oil!! Great service & outdoor patio was beautiful for a warm fall evening.
Consistently amazing elevated Italian comfort food! I rarely order salads in general but their grape arugula salad is one of the best I’ve ever had. The focaccia bread appetizer is baked in-house and comes with tasty fixings on the side. Pizzas and pastas are always fresh, even when delivered. I’m also a fan of the tiramisu and gelato for dessert when dining in. The staff goes out of their way to accommodate and remember food allergies and dietary restrictions, so perfect spot for any group!
Came in during restaurant week so got to try the menu which was very tasty. Also got a pistachio / something pizza which was very tasty as well. Beautiful interior which could easily fit into a downtown location but offered in a local setting. Parking in this area is on the more congested side but there are some street metered spots if you come at less typically busy times.
Absolutely lovely place to get Italian food! They have a good selection of pastas (most vegetarian friendly) and their fire oven pizzas are great! Out of what I had I would say the order of the focaccia was my favorite, it comes with a whipped ricotta that is to die for. Service is also great!
First time having a meal here and it was such a delicious lunch! Service was friendly, personable, and attentive! The pizzas are thinner than what we were expecting but that didn't matter after we had the first bite! Will definitely be back!
Dinner here was fantastic. Great Italian dishes. Amazing and friendly service. We had Tiramisu for dessert, which was deliciously sweet. Will be back again when visiting Illinois.
The food is sooooooo good. Seriously amazing. The pizza is so thin you can cut it with scissors and the pasta melts in your mouth. 10/10. The service and ambiance is also perfect but I always come to restaurants for the food ;)
