I was passing by and decided to try Gyy-Kaku Japanese BBQ. I had not made a reservation, but they were able to accommodate me. Thank you 😊.
I had fried calamari, fried pork dumplings, grilled some beef and pork belly myself with white rice and Napa Kimchi 🤤. Yummy!
I won't forget the hot sake 💃🏼
Until next time 💞
Omg, the most delicious thing I've had in my mouth in awhile 😋 lol. I love the set up and atmosphere. I thought us cooking at the table would throw me off but it was a lovely experience and the meat was delicious. Will definitely be going back.
The lava cake was crazy good and it had such a perfect ice cream ball. The cheese corn is also very good, it was very unique and flavorful. Very buttery as well. I would definitely recommend getting those and coming here. Yummy
This was second time at this restaurant, the first time at this location in the West Loop. We were a party of ten and they accommodated us promptly at our reservation time. The food is very good and our server was great. The menu is full of interesting choices. It’s fun to sit back and watch your family cook their food on the table-top grills. They even have s’mores for dessert. Nice place to celebrate an event.
Went here for friend’s birthday lunch. Everything was good. We even got the happy hour special. Four people. Bill was under $200 including tips. Still one of the best Japanese BBQ I been to. Only thing not so good is finding parking sometimes.
I really enjoyed this place, its a new experience and really fun to get to grill your own food. The meat quality is good and the service was amazing they are very helpful and explained everything in details. Their lava cake was 10/10, loved it! Overall its a fun experience but if i was hungry it wouldn't be my first choice.
Perfect dinner date. All you can eat Japanese BBQ, What more can you ask for?
This was my first time going to this style of restaurant. The food was good except for the wontons.
The service, the decor, the quality all remind me what I had back in Japan.
HOWEVER, there were still some dishes may make you frown. The fried chicken was not juicy as what I expected, the coating was more than actual meat. The sushi... If you don't know how to make one, just don't pretended that you know how to... the rice just fell apart even I picked it up with my hands.... But back to BBQ itself, it's amazing. And the udon, you will be surprise how good that is!
I went for the lunch because their lunch menu is way cheaper and it comes with two meat options, miso soup, salad, and a large bowl of rice for $13.99. I was satisfied with the amount I was given. The meat quality was good. I’m Korean, so I was basing my experience at Gyu-Kaku with kbbq. It’s very similar, but I felt like there wasn’t anything special or different with the meats. Kbbq is marinated in a sweat way, so it’s unique, but Jbbq seemed plain. You do get 3 sauces to dip the meat. I enjoyed my meal and I think it’s worth checking out, especially for their lunch menu!
Service was top tier to say the least! I plan on coming back a few more times after this amazing experience! The meat lovers plate was perfect for two people, even with a little extras to take home as well. Drinks are delicious and the presentation of everything was phenomenal! I also love how fast and efficient it is to cook those delicious meats, and the marinade was so mouth watering! :)
Love going to this place! Food is excellent, customer service is always 10/10 and super attentive. Been here twice already, will be my new favorite Japanese spot.
New favorite restaurant!! The service was great, our server was so kind and polite. (He even gave me a free dessert because it was my birthday! I got green tea icecream soooo tasty)
The entire lunch was delicious and the timing in which everything was brought out was perfect. So many meats to choose from and every one I tried was mouth watering and made you want more and more. No disappointment at all, definitely reccomend and definitely will be coming back.
Update:just recently went back and still just as good! I reccomend to anyone who loves good meat!
Been to all 3 locations and the food and service has been superb every time! Recently went with my family for my birthday and it was their first time and they are big fans now as well! My favorites are the sukiyaki bimbimbop and the basil chicken. Their drinks menu is vast and the happy hour is best time to go! Been going here for 5+ years and will continue to do so!
I've been to many Gyu Kaku locations and this is my favorite one! The interiors are cute and has service is great! (Although they did forget one of our orders) The appetizers are so much better than other locations for some reason. Would definitely recommend this place!
Overall good dining experience. Appetisers came out quickly and the meats came out right after. Since they have a 2 hour time limit, it’s nice that they were quick to serve. The minus star is for two reasons: 1. Like many businesses they seemed to be short staffed. So getting seated was a bit disorganised. 2. The meat slices are not consistent in thickness or size. So some pieces looked like “scrap” but still tasted good.
