Funkenhausen - Chicago - Photo album

This place has a great soundtrack. I love the mix of their fun atmosphere with decadent menu items. We started with the broccolini and oysters, then moved to a full slab of ribs with white bbq sauce, and ended with desserts. Whenever I ordered a beer, the server asked if I "just wanted the 16oz", be
The spot is such a wonderful place to be. It's very comfortable and lovely and the staff is absolutely amazing. Excellent service. The only thing that didn't quite meet expectations was the food. The price is a bit higher but I was thinking that the food would then be a bit yummier. We had the crab
Overall cool vibes - great atmosphere and great music in the evening. Great service- Mari was awesome handling our reservation and greeting us. I felt very welcome and it was quite the hospitable place. Service was quick even during busy Saturday night during Restaurant Week. The food was incredib
The services were fantastic! The staffs there were kind and attentive! The portion per dish was light, so you may want to order more dishes. Not a single complaint about the restaurant. A restaurant I would probably revisit!
German and soul food is a rare combination but when done right it creates a unique experience. A michelin bib-gourmand and a recommendation from a co-worker, Funkenhausen was a pretty easy choice for our office group get together party. Our large group of 10 was looked after really well and the mana
I’ve had this spot bookmarked for a while and finally made it for dinner. My only regret is not going sooner! Tried the oysters, beef croquettes, schnitzel, and cacio e Pepe and all were excellent. Also liked the decor/ design aesthetic very cozy and modern! Will def be back for brunch sometime.
Had a great experience here for brunch. Service was good, great decor, and good beer selections. I’d highly recommend the “oma’s breakfast” - it was a great sampler of what they had to offer. 10/10. The Schnitz and Grits was flavorful and good, but the breading on the meat was soggy, even in areas
Funkenhausen came recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint. The menu is rather abbreviated but the selections do not disappoint. I like that it’s not overflowing with choice. The food was absolutely delicious. We tried the pretzel, brat, and spätzle for appetizers and then I had the chicken
Reserved a table on Open Table on a Saturday morning at 10:30am. I wouldn't be worried about doing a walk in because it's a spacious place so there wouldn't be much of a wait. Interior is beautiful! Got the Schnitz and Gritz, Dad's Crepes, and Oma's Breakfast. Everything was pretty good. Wouldn't s
Fun place for German food with a twist. Really enjoyed the sturgeon pastrami & the smelts/asparagus small plate was fantastic. The "tarte flambe" was good, but honestly more of a flat bread than a tarte. Definitely try the smoked spare ribs, those were great. Great & inventive cocktails, and since
A truly amazing restaurant, with some of the most delicious food and the kindest waitstaff. Our experience was perfect: we ordered many drinks and many dishes, and they were all delightful. Thank you, Funkenhausen, for an enjoyable and a one-of-a-kind dining experience!
Overall a nice space, but didn't live up to my expectations. I came with a group of friends on a Monday night. The half off bottle of wine deal was pretty great, but our waiter strangely kept the bottle away from the table so we always had to ask him for a refill. We ordered two pretzels to share
My mother was born in Saraland. My father was born in Southern Florida. I came to brunch for my birthday and thoroughly enjoyed it. The schnitz and grits took me all the way back to my roots. I loved the food. The staff and chef were very friendly and efficient. I am definitely coming back again.
We went there ,When we were in Chicago for brunch during restaurant week. Bright atmosphere. Amazing new style German food with excellent service. Great & Inventive cocktails plus point .Highly recommend !
First time here and I know it will not be the last. We ordered the charcuterie plate which was delicious. 5 different meats, ham, pickled carrots and zucchini. It was so great but my favorite was the sausage. Yum! I then had the whole mess of chicken with oyster mushrooms, my favorite, and wow.
Very good. The advantages of Chicago Restaurant Week, when you get to try restaurants more abundantly and relatively less expensive. The menu is about german food preoared with alittle twist. The pork chacuterie was stupendous. Spaetzle was excellent. Schnitzel was crispy and tender. Will ve back
