Hands down one of the best taco places in Chicago I have been to. Everything from the ambiance, drinks, service, and food was incredible. While it was great enjoying this place with just my boyfriend, I think it would make an even better spot to enjoy as a double date or a night out with some friends because there is so much on the menu I wanted to try! Our server Erik was great at making suggestions on pairing drinks with food. We had the EL Rey Buho, Yo Soy Para Ti, and Mezcal Old Fashion, and holy crap that was some of the best mezcal cocktails I have ever had. We had the habanero salsa (very spicy!), Queso Fondido with chorizo and Cochinita Pibil Tacos Squid Tacos, and Lobster Tacos. The favorites were the queso and lobster tacos. They really punch you in the mouth with flavor! We would have had dessert, but we already needed a fork lift to carry us out of there. Overall a memorable experience! 10/10 would recommend

Prob one of the best experiences I've had. Drinks are amazing. You taste it all from beginning to end. The langostinos were amazing!!!! I wanted to waterfall the sauce into my mouth!!! I can appreciate a place that isn't pushy so this place was awesome. It's an open air restaurant so I'm ALLLLL about that. The table we had had a view of Sears Tower (Willis tower killah) overall great experience! Would recommend it 100 times! They also offer coffee from a coffee house from Back of the Yards, I respect that!
Great food and drinks! I would recommend the Paloma mixed drink, the huachinango (snapper) ceviche, the chicken rotizado tacos, the churros and the blueberry tres leches cake highly.
Loved the casual unpretentious vibe. Love the food, the drinks and the 90s-early 2000 music jams! Will definitely be back & introduce this place to friends.
Amazing food and great service, loved the atmosphere and vibe of the venue! Will be back all I wish they had was a shrimp cocktaildef a place to put on your list of places to eat!
I was recommended by my friend to try this establishment. From the first call I made to make reservation for Sunday brunch the customer service was phenomenal. I requested for a private area away from the crowd. The reason why is because I have my 1 year old daughter and a 3 year old son.We did not want to annoy any one. We had a party of 7 that day. From the first walk thru till the end everything was perfect. Not only did they accommodated our request but the waitress we had that day was extremely helpful and patient with us. The food and drinks took our breath away. My family and I really enjoyed our visit that day. My wife and I will be coming back on date night for that cucumber drink we had. It was delicious. I Wish I knew our waitress name she had outstanding customer service.
From Barrera family.
I highly recommend this restaurant! From the appetizers to the desserts. The langostinos are the best in the Chicago area. The tres leches had the perfect taste and will have you wanting seconds.
The service was friendly and fast. The food was delicious. Lots of great flavors. Many kinds of tequilas and mezcals to choose from. I recommend it. I Will definitely go back. lol
Excellent service and delicious food I would highly recommend it to all the people that are looking for good food and friendly service
Exceptional food, service, drinks & atmosphere. Great location simply love the ambiance of this place. we tried basically ALL of the tacos and they were superb!!! What came next was just something that worfs CANNOT describe... the BEST dessert ever! Churros with a chocolate Abuelita sauce (a Mexican hit chocolate) and ice cream scoop. Seriously it is to die for. My boyfriend and I have found a new jewel!
Great food and great service! I can't say enough about this place. Our waitress Marisol was very pleasant and the pomegranate guac is a must! Definitely coming back soon.
Love this place! Wait staff are always so professional and the food is always awesome!
The food and setting was great. The staff was on point.
Love the Staff and Food.
Hands down this is the spot that will make your day a happy one.
Everything on the menu will satisfy you.

Had dinner here and we ordered the chicken tacos - changed to lettuce wrap and the mixed seafood platter (which was served w their hand pressed corn tortillas).
Service was nice and friendly
Food was good, albeit a little salty.
The hand pressed corn tortillas are gluten free and were very delicious!
Would have been 5 stars if the food was less salty!
FOOD RATING AT THE BOTTOM: La Joise a gem. The vibes in the place are incredible from the open window concept to the sexy atmosphere & live DJ inside, I had a great time. I was late for my reservation. (PRO TIP: Add 20 to your trip during dinner hours, traffic is nuts.) The greeting staff was extremely accommodating even though the restaurant was full. We were seated quickly.
The waitress was ready with recommendations and to help guide my selection and damn I am glad I listened.
That food has me HOOKED! The cooks has to be adding drops of love in the dishes they are incredible.

Mezcal Margarita🍹: 10.0 an absolute must have
The music was great, and I really enjoy myself.
One area, that was not perfect was because the bus server staff. They were rude and hovered alot.
Other than perfect place to eat!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND
I had a wonderful time at LA Josie. The margaritas were just right for my friend and me. The waiter was incredibly friendly, and the service was outstanding, with our food arriving promptly. Speaking of the food, it was delicious. I enjoyed the shrimp tacos, mainly due to the sauce. I kind of wish that the same sauce in the shrimp tacos was used in the Baja tacos; it would have enhanced the flavor. The asada was also expertly cooked and quite delicious. I recommend it as a fantastic spot to relax with a friend and enjoy great conversation!
I am an absolute fan of this place. We sat at the open rooftop, what a beautiful view. Had some heated lamps going up there with some string lights giving it such a cozy feel. Our waitress was very friendly, bubbly, and gave amazing recommendations. Their ceviche was soooo good and so was all their food. I was especially excited about all their mezcal cocktail options and they definitely didn’t disappoint. Including the mezcal old fashioned which merged two of my fav things. Go check it out, it’s definitely a vibe!
Good tacos and salsa. This is pretty much the tagline you need for la josie. At anywhere from $6-$8 per taco they aren’t the cheapest, but they hit the spot. The chicken taco and mushroom taco were crowd favorites. You won’t go wrong eating here, but don’t expect to have be blown away by creativity. (3.9/5)
Truly earned 5 stars for everything. So much care taken with the food with layers of flavor, the tequila and mezcal mixed drinks were inventive and delicious, and the server knew every part of the menu and ingredients - it's so refreshing to deal with knowledgeable staff. Don't wait - go now - you will not regret it!
From start to finish, our experience at La Josie was amazing. Great food, ambiance, and service.
Their cocktail menu for tequila and mezcal drinks is really unique and our group loved everything we had. The Demonios cocktail was a nice mix of smoky and spicy and the Oaxacan Old Fashioned was great and served on a perfect large cube. If you're a fan of tequila and mezcal, their selection of pours and flights is absolutely insane.
The appetizers were all fantastic. We had the chips and salsa trio, the guacamole duo, and the chorizo queso fundito. The gluten free chips were really solid as well.
For dinner, we had 4 types of tacos that we all shared. The steak tacos were the favorite, followed by the carnitas, and barbacoa. The lobster tacos were okay, but our favorite.
For dessert, we had the churros which was a perfect finish. If you like high-end Mexican food and cocktails, La Josie is the place to go!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at La Josie restaurant and was thoroughly impressed with my meal. The guacamole I started with was simply delicious - it had a perfect balance of fresh avocados, tangy lime, and just the right amount of spice. For my main course, I ordered the mariscada, which was a seafood dish that tasted like it had just been caught from the ocean - it was so fresh and flavorful! The dish was cooked to perfection with a rich, savory sauce that complemented the seafood perfectly. To finish off the meal, I indulged in a massive chocolate cake that was absolutely divine - rich, moist, and so satisfying.
The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, with a great vibe that made me feel right at home. The service was top-notch, with attentive and friendly staff who made sure my dining experience was nothing short of excellent. All in all, I highly recommend La Josie restaurant - it's definitely worth a visit if you're looking for great food, a great atmosphere, and great service.
Our first time at La Josie was incredible. It was a rainy and foggy day, but the way the dark interior & lighting created such an immediate vibe was incredible. Verania was our server and she was legitimately knowledgeable talking about the menu.
The agua fresca with reposado was fantastic. My wife got a margarita and chilequiles. I got three tacos, but the Huitlacoche was the arguably BEST I've ever had. It would make me a vegetarian in a heartbeat, and I'm a carnivore's carnivore.
At the end, Verania got us birthday shots as it was my wife's 30th birthday. Shout out to her, she made the experience that much more memorable.
It is worth coming here than the place next door.
Waitress was super nice!
They gave a huge guacamole for that day I don’t know why but it’s super delicious (might bc it’s free so got extra bonus hhhh)
We order the trio ceviche and a hot version of ceviche (this was what waitress described it) and we loved the hot version better!
