Wonderful dining experience with the flavors of Ethiopia flowing through the air. Vegetarian options were very tasty, fresh and satisfying to the palate.
Always a good time with good food. Excellent, friendly service. Always feel like they care about the patrons here and they’re proud of the food they serve. The sampler is huge and easily feeds two. Good portions. One thing that could be improved is the decor. The interior feels quite outdated at this point.
My son chose this place for his 30th birthday dinner. The food and service were excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience here.

Service and atmosphere is really good. The vegetarian combo is good but not the best one I’ve ever had.
Get delivery every time. Been meaning to stop inside. Super easy to order for someone who doesn’t know much about Ethiopian food. The veggie sampler is fantastic!
Love this place! A berela of the honey mead and the vegetarian sample is my go to order, but honestly everything is delicious and it's just a nice dining experience every time. Do give yourself plenty of time to enjoy.

I worked in Ethiopia off and on for two years, and in between, I would bring people to Ethiopian Diamond to share the experience with friends in Chicago. The food here is great, the atmosphere is laid back, and the large dining room feels inviting to me. This visit we started off with a small coffee pot, which they served with small cups and some sugar. We ordered some sambusa savory pastries, two filled with meats and one with veggies and one with lentils as an appetizer. Then we had the meat sampler plate, which came with 3 meats and 3 vegetarian offerings in a platter of the injera bread, and a platter of four more rolled injera. There was some salad in the middle of the platter too. Everything tasted great, the service was quiet and prompt, with frequent water fills since we stayed a long time given they weren't busy. Overall, a great choice for Ethiopian dining.

The food was so good! I forgot to take a picture when I got home 😩. My favorite are the potato’s that come with the carrots, the salad, and the lamb. I actually called in because most of the dishes have the Ethiopian name.
The pace is slow, so give yourself plenty of time to enjoy the food.
Family owned restaurant full of art that depicts Ethiopian art. The food is tasty and filling. Food is served in a big platter to share with family/friends at table. If you go, you must try the honey wine and the diamond desert. The wine and ice cream Is tasty and definitely worth indulging in. I need to say that the wine is homemade. We fell in love with the wine that we used it for our wedding. I recommend it.
Spacious place with nice speedy service. Food is great, served on big plates/trays. Interesting thing...you will be eating with your hands ..not an easy thing but worth trying. Decoration on walls is trying to get you a little feel of Ethiopia.
My girlfriend and I live nearby and this is one of our go to spots for pick up and dine in! The food is delicious and a nice change from the usual chicago fare. The service is always great and everyone is very friendly. Would recommend for a casual dinner or date night!

I’ve been to many places except Ethiopia (it’s on my list) to try Ethiopian food. From DC to Amsterdam. However, nothing has even touched or compared to the flavors of Ethiopian Diamond. What a Diamond this place truly is. The injera has a sourdough like flavor to it. I could eat a shoe with this injera I swear. It enhances the flavors in all the different entree options they offer. My favorite entree has evolved over the years (I’ve been coming here for 15ish years). My favorite entrees now are the Kitfo medium (beef) and the Yatkilt Watt (vegetarian). The flavor of the Kitfo is so unique and flavorful. I love the cheese and mitmita powder it comes with. All of that wrapped in a piece of injera is heaven in my mouth. Not only is the food delicious, but the restaurant itself is beautiful. To top it all off the service is amazing. We’ve met many great servers over the years here that have taken great care of us. Our most recent sever Haile (sorry if misspelled) is the best. So genuine and thoughtful. He really makes the meal there perfect every time. My hope is that Ethiopian Diamond remains a neighborhood staple so I may return many many times soon after. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Every person I’ve brought here from the pickiest of eaters has loved it, and continue to come back separately/rave about it as well.
