I had been waiting for this place to open since I heard it was coming to Chicago. Finally got in while they are still going through their soft opening. I waited over an hour but hey it is a soft opening. The place is small. I hear they are opening in Wicker Park. Do US a favor and pick a bigger place. Now the chicken was, and I mean this with all sincerity, some of the best fried chicken I have ever had. I ordered a 15 piece combo with both flavors. The sweet sticky spicy was an excellent compliment to the soy garlic. Crisp and delicious skin rich in flavor and crunch. I would and will always order both. I didn't eat all i bought but pop the leftovers in a oven at 350°F and it's good eating all over again. Service was good and just enough amount of attentiveness. Blake the manager was a cool guy. Now I will tell you they use a text service to let you know a table is ready should you come when there is a crowd (Which I expect will always be the case). Well if you have AT&T you might not get service down there. The signal become almost non existent
I personally cannot wait to return and I'm bringing a hoard of food loving friends. I will be seeing you soon. It is a bit pricey but as a treat every now and then, price is not an issue.
I recommend this place because I’ve never tried Korean chicken before and I tried it and it was definitely delicious
I loved it. The fried chicken was delicious and very crispy. We also split tacos and glass noodles. All of the food was wonderful, I can't wait to go back!
First off, I love Korean food. My favorites are 비빔밥, 잡채, 김밥 and 김치. I forgot where I first saw that Bonchon was opening in Chicago but I was really excited to try it with my boyfriend. We've tried in the past to go but never worked with our schedules. Today after church we happened to be in the area and it was perfect for us to stop by. We walked up and it was a little tricky to get in because it was so busy BUT we were quickly escorted to a table! That was awesome. We saw other parties had a 20-40 minute wait but maybe because we were only 2 people we got a table much faster. Our server was SUPER nice (tall guy with pony tail) and he was really helpful. I am a vegetarian and gluten free so the tofu bibimbop was my go to today. They didn't bring me my 고추장 but after we requested some they brought it BEST veggies and hot stone bibimbop ever. I really love Del Seoul's version in Lincoln Park but Bonchon's version is now my favorite. My boyfriend ordered spicy combo chicken and he said it was really good. We will be back soon. Thank you!!!
The food was delicious and the waiter was very helpful and kind. Can't wait to go there again.
Amazing! Those Korean tacos are 🔥🔥🔥🤤. It’s my favorite thing on the menu and the potstickers are too good!
Clean, delicious and delightful food here. 5 Stars , keep it up
Everything was very good! Loved the Kim chi, the bulgogi fried rice and the soy garlic and spicy wings were amazing. The only thing I couldn't handle was the spicy chicken tacos. I needed some milk
Delightful Experience with a great ambiance and a absolutely superb service! ALL MENU but my favorite is the Mixed Chicken Wings and House fried Rice! Espectacular!!!!!
Have been waiting for BonChon Chicago to open for months! Coincidentally, I was in Chinatown during the soft opening but there was a long line and I had to leave before the opening! I came again today for the summer fair and the line was still super long (which other reviewers seem to mention in a negative light but I hope the owners see it as a compliment because so many people are interested in trying your food!). The staffs were very friendly, polite, and professional despite the busy atmosphere. My friend and I got seated at the bar, which gave off a chill feel but gave us the privilege to see firsthand how hard the staff work to keep the place running smoothly. The food was absolutely DELICIOUS. Highly recommend the salmon avocado ball. :) Will come again in the future. Hope you guys start opening for lunch hours!
The chicken skin crispness is perfect.
Spicy flavor is good.
Fries are very good. The only ones i could eat cold. They are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
The bibimbap could have less rice and more veggies and meat.
The food was deliciousssss! Would definitely go again, the Korean tacos were alright, the Takoyaki are a must try, the chicken was great. My only complaint is that me and my group were seated by the door so the cold air kept hitting us anytime the door was opened. We were a bit chilly but we were still able to enjoy our food. Service was okay.
Everything was fantastic! But can we just talk about those wings!? We got the half and half and it was perfect! The crunch in breading was something I’ve never experienced before.
Love this place! My partner and I tried tteokbokki here for the first time, and loved it. I’ve never had a chicken katsu as amazing as theirs, either! Very clean restaurant, very accommodating and friendly workers—just an all-around lovely place.
The wings are so tender and full of flavor! The half and half sauce option is the best way to go to try the best of both worlds (spicy and sweet). Nothing like an ice cold Sapporo beer to go with the wings. Enjoy!
Love their fried chicken, especially the spicy one. Service was great. Price also cheap if you go with bigger portion.
