Great BBQ, had a bit of a wait but the food was definitely worth it.

I recently had an experience with City Barbecue, and unfortunately, it left me disappointed. This was the second time that my order was missing an important item—the hush puppies. While I understand that mistakes can happen, it's disheartening when the same issue occurs repeatedly.
The food quality at City Barbecue is generally good, and I appreciate the flavors and variety they offer. However, the consistent oversight of forgetting items in the order is a significant drawback. It undermines the overall experience and leaves a customer feeling unsatisfied.
Customer service plays a vital role in any restaurant experience, and it is where City Barbecue fell short in my case. Dealing with the missing hush puppies was inconvenient and required additional effort on my part to rectify the situation. As a customer, I expect a certain level of attention to detail and reliability when it comes to fulfilling orders.
While City Barbecue has its merits, such as the delicious barbecue offerings, it is crucial for them to address the recurring issue of missing items promptly. Taking steps to improve order accuracy and providing solutions to customers who have experienced such problems would significantly enhance the overall dining experience.
I hope that City Barbecue takes this feedback constructively and works towards ensuring a consistent and reliable service for its customers. Attention to detail and prompt resolution of issues are vital aspects that can truly elevate the dining experience and build customer loyalty.

Great food! Had to stop by on trip back to my hometown. The service was great, and everyone working there was very friendly.

We had City BBQ at a catered event earlier this year and loved it. I also would rave about the taste of the greens and also the green beans that went along with the ribs that we had this trip. Looking forward to trying the rest of the menu soon. Staff was awesome as well!

Super awesome place in Cincinnati. I went there for the first time while traveling. I told them it was my first time there, and they had me spin a wheel for a prize... I got a free chocolate cake (yum).
I ordered More Cowbell (sandwich with delicious brisket and grilled onions on Texas toast) and a pulled pork salad. Very good and filling. I put Swine Wine (spiced vinegar based pork sauce) on my salad... Was delicious! Like a vinaigrette. They have a pretty good sauce selection.
Would go there again in a heartbeat. Excellent service and good food... Winning combo.

Went last week while visiting my youngest child last week from Texas. You already know how Texans feel about their barbecue and let me tell you this place did not disappoint. We got the 4 meat platter with baked beans with pulled pork(soooo good!), potato salad (taste like my mom’s) and mac n cheese. The meat was so tender and smoked just right. But what I was most impressed with was by far the customer service. The lady at the front was so warm and welcoming. This will always be my first stop when we come to visit.

Warmly welcomed by entire staff. Orders Cashier was warm and pleasant to us first timers and very helpful in our ordering.
My wife had the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw & fries and l has the 2 meats platter with coleslaw & potato salad. To our surprise we were also give samples of the Southwest Slaw & Corn pudding plus a $5 discount because it was our 1st time in the establishment.
My wife absolutely loved her pulled pork sandwich and l could not stop raving about the taste of the Beef Brisket and the pulled pork.
However the sides are killer...lm going to have a hard time making a choice as to what I want on my plate next time. Potato salad and coleslaw were excellent but the samplers were both amazing.
My pick of the night would have to be the Outstanding Beef Brisket and my wife's choice was the corn pudding.
And we both loved the peach cobbler.
I know we'll return very soon..
P.S. Sorry no pictures of our food, which l normally post...l was just to busy pigging out. Pun was intended.

This is by far the best pork or brisket bbq I have ever eaten! They have an array of southern cuisine and their collard greens are so good!! I normally don't like collards! Stop by for down home southern style food it's m m good!

Had lunch with my work crew and left stuffed. If your a carnivore and want some BBQ here ya go. There were busy but the wait was not to long. They had an mess up on a order and quickly fixed it. I was impressed.

Food is always excellent and carryout is quick. My only complaint was the sauces are manufactured packaged instead of fresh. Flavour is not as good as before.

Ate here yesterday for lunch. I had the More Cow Bell brisket sandwich with potato salad as a side. It was fantastic! Brisket was juicy and very tender. Potato salad was excellent! Cashier was very friendly. We will definitely be back soon!

I love how there set up is. The food smeels good and the location is very accessible I just notice that the parking lot is not that big. I ordered chicken wings with corn bread and baked beans so far I love their chicken wings. It's not dry it's very moist and juicy that I can really taste the sauce and the chicken in every bite. They also have lots of sauce choices and we got apple, borboun and spicy one. I can recommend the apple since its the one that taste great for me. Their baked beans is somewhat like overcooked I dunno coz it doesn't taste like beans but something else. Their corn bread is dry and bit of hard one than usually it should be. The serving period doesn't take too long since we got ours like after 5-10 minutes. As for the price they're really affordable and you can get what you pay. Oh and also the place is quite loud.

Excellent food and service. Brisket is amazing! Very generous during the veterans day deal as well. Definitely recommend.

I had the “More Cowbell” which had some awesome brisket, roasted peppers and onions, and a nice white cheese on top. The bread was my favorite part, to be honest. It was fluffy and buttered to perfection. As for the actual sandwich, the brisket was nice and smokey. As soon as you added the barbecue sauce, it brought the whole thing up. As the peppers and onions fell out, I put them on top of the Mac and cheese and it went right along. The Mac was pretty standard, I wish there were some baked breadcrumbs on top, but what can you do? It was still creamy and cheesy, which is all you can really ask from Mac and cheese. Overall, the service was amazing, good food, decent prices, and I should mention that my order was ready in 10 min. Good work guys.

Flavourful, moist smoked meats. Friendly service. Good value. 4.5/5. I'd go again.
Yes, it's chain bbq. With that context and commensurate expectations, I quite enjoyed most of the food. It's not cheap, but I think the quality is worth the cost.
The gentleman at the counter recommend the City Sampler for trying a few different meats, and I quite enjoyed it. Overall, I was most impressed by how all of the smoked meats were full of flavour while remaining sufficiently moist.
Pulled pork, 4/5; good flavour, but not the best I've had.
Pulled chicken, 5.5/5; this may be the best I've had. Flavourful and incredibly moist. Yum.
Beef brisket, 4/5; solid flavour, but not as much marbling as I prefer.
Smoked turkey, 5/5; plenty of delicious smoked flavour yet still moist.
Collars greens, 2/5. Wayyy too much salt for my taste.
Green beans, 4/5.
Chocolate fudge cake, 4/5. The icing is Rich and fudgy. The cake is just a tad dry for me, but still enjoyable. Recommendation: moisten the cake up some, perhaps by doing a brief microwave. Also, I added pecans to mine and that was a delicious pairing.

This place is bangin. The customer service is great and very helpful. Gave me great choices to choose from but everything here is good as heck. Keep it up!

This is a COVID era review. All staff were masked, masks were required for customers, and seating capacity was limited.
FULL DISCLOSURE: I had once vowed never to eat barbecue outside of Memphis, TN, my home town. Memphis barbecue has no equal anywhere. It is the standard by which to measure all other barbecue.
That being said, I was reluctant to try City Barbeque. The draw was the tantalizing charcoal aroma from nearby, and the promise that the meat has been slow cooked for eighteen hours.
The meat itself was appropriately smoky and dense, yielding a delicious meat with good charcoal flavor.
The sauce comes on the side in a range from sweet to hot. It tastes like it has molasses in it, with a dark color and deep caramel sweetness. There is just a bit of heat in the hot sauce, and additional hot sauce is available.
The fries were unremarkable. They were the same degree of softness throughout, with no crunch or crispness on the outside.
One of the sides offered is hush puppies, balls of cornbread quick fried. They had the architecture the fries needed: a crisp outside and inner moistness.
I ordered the vinegar slaw side, quite frankly, because I didn't know if the sandwich came with slaw on meat. Slaw on the sandwich is the correct way to make a barbecue sandwich (fight me). The sandwich did come with a creamy slaw, perfectly complementing the meat and sauce. But the first bite of the vinegar slaw side was all tasteless cabbage. Once stirred, a nice vinegary sweetness came through, with bits of carrots, onions, and green peppers throughout. This just tells me the dish was staged, which is not unforgivable, of course, but maybe a shake or stir before serving would be in order.
The banana pudding, a must have when eating a barbecue sandwich, had the bright yellow color and and imitation banana taste of instant banana pudding. There was enough fresh banana, vanilla wafer, light caramel sauce, and thick whipped cream topping to detract from it, but not to eliminate it.
Everything came to the table on a large aluminum tray. Everything was served on a thin brown paper, while the fries with ketchup and the sandwich with sauce needed something sturdier. A fountain drink station offered Pepsi products, and there was sweet and unsweet tea, as well as lemonade, in separate dispensers. The sweet tea was only just sweet. It's not that strong.
Honestly, this was as close to Memphis barbecue as I have come across in a long time. City Barbecue deserves kudos for that. For me it was a nostalgic visit that I look forward to repeating often.
UPDATE: As stated above, I've been back several times. It's my go to place for barbecue in the Queen City area. Frankly, I haven't tried anywhere else. Meat is good, all the above still stands. There have been a couple of service hiccups, but they are ready to make things right. Love City Barbecue.

We've been here so many times and never had a bad meal. Take out or dine in, you'll get excellent quality meats and flavorful sides. The only drawback is the bland deserts. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The only place you'll need to go in the area for BBQ..

Visiting from Biloxi, MS. I was impressed by the quality of the bbq and I don't say that lightly. I used to live in Texas (famous for brisket) and City Barbecue was definitely on par. The way they treated the pork was excellent. Pulling it apart and leaving the beautiful bark in chunks was ideal. The staff was friendly, selection was nice, iced beer when you walk in, and I'm pretty sure I saw sweet tea ;)

City Barbeque really changed my mind last time I went with their ginormous Big Bone Beef Rib - so I was excited to try their new creation - Tacos!!! (well they call them TaQos). . I went to the location in Eastgate - it's the closest to me - but they also have spots in Highland Heights, West Chester, Blue Ash & Florence (+ Indiana, Kentucky & North Carolina).

City Barbeque has done it again by coming out with a two pound beef rib - calling it THE BIG BONE! Now historically, City Barbeque was not my favorite of the BBQ places in Cincinnati - but when we're talking about a ginormous rib - I'm willing to give it another shot! (Thanks to City BBQ for providing my meal - all opinions are my own.)

I have read that the 'que at some of the City BBQs (with roughly a half dozen locations currently scattered around town) is maddeningly inconsistent - good one day, not so much the next. I have never had that problem at the location in Eastgate

I have had the ribs, the pulled pork, brisket, and sausage so far over the course of several visits, and all have been solidly good. I still prefer the independents around town, but when I am in Eastgate and wanting some BBQ, I have never been let down

That, and they have plenty of inside seating, and inside bathrooms, something many of the better independents lack

Good food. Fairly affordable. Family/kid friendly. They even donate ten percent of their pre-tax profits to charity.

CIncinKNATi. Food was not super impressive although I like all the BBQ sauces. But the knats flying around is downright discussing it's the middle of January for Christ sakes I understand in the summer and fall but not in winter and they are big suckers too . I won't be eating there again unless I get a hankering for extra wings and legs with my chicken.

This place has improved since last time I stopped. I love the fresh vinegar slaw and all the sides I've tried. It's a great lunch spot and a nice alternative to the nearby Chik filet where it's overflowing during lunch hours. Support this place instead, it seems like a nice, family-run biz

Good food...but too bad. Had dinner at the Eastgate location last night. The brisket, pulled pork, beans and fries were excellent...hot and tasty. The potato salad was among the best we ever had in a restaurant and the hush puppies were like the ones I loved in Mississippi eateries. HOWEVER, they have no French dressing, so I didn't get a salad, no coffee, so my wife drank lemonade, and Pepsi products, so I had water instead of a Coke. OK, we could live with that.
When our order came up we had no plates. Our over-stuffed sandwiches were served on waxed paper. Our table was sticky when we sat down and we had to put paper towels down so our forearms wouldn't stick. In fact the door to the men's room was sticky and the paper towel machine didn't work. These sandwiches were quite good but by the time sauce was squirted on them, they were sloppy enough to have the buns fall apart. Having to eat the sauce-covered meat off of waxed paper with a fork to me was kind of crude. Eventually I realized I had poked through the waxed paper to the sticky table below (who knows the last time it was cleaned), and that's when my meal was over. Then I had to return our tray, separate the silverware, bowls and the garbage (who's container was overflowing).
There were very few customers when we were there, so there was no excuse for the help to at least wipe the tables clean. It's a shame , because the food is so good. We won't eat there again but might do carry-out.

Food and Service Outstanding. Every last thing we had here, from the pulled pork and smoked turkey to the beans and cole slaw and even the peach cobbler and chocolate cake, was fantastic. We had an allergic kid in our party and they had a very detailed list of allergens on the wall--very helpful. We had an issue with the water dispenser and were quickly and enthusiastically given a free bottled water. Food came out lightning quick, too.

I couldn't fault them for one single thing. Prices aren't low, but they deliver for the money. Many sauce options. Every employee was helpful and friendly. It all comes back to the food, but the food was the highlight.

Good place. I normally just get a sandwich here since they are big enough to fill you up, and the smoked turkey is fantastic. They have several sauces on the table so you can mix and match, along with paper towels for cleanup. I normally get a side of the beans since they are damn good, but most of the other sides are not for me. I've had a few things here, but the best value are the sandwiches, by far.

Good but.... This place is very good, their always quick, tea is wonderful, food is hot. However their a bit pricey in my opinion. It seems like for a whole family their bulk pricing on things is very reasonable, but for an individual not so much. My meal which was a pulled pork sandwich, mac n cheese and a sweet tea was $10 and some change! this is a bit much. The food is good though and even though its a chain, it's a good one.

After trying various BBQ places, I've decided that City BBQ is my favorite so far. I absolutely love their beef brisket! So tender and it makes me happy to get the crusty bits where the flavor really pops. As far as the pulled pork and smoked turkey they both are very tasty too. Our favorite barbecue sauce is the mustard sauce, it's unique-- you've got to try it. My husband & I usually split the City Sampler that comes with brisket, pulled pork, smoked Turkey breast & a smoked sausage link as well as two sides & two slices of Texas toast. All this for $12.99! Then we split a iced tea and we are set. Their sides are pretty good, some better than others. We like their baked beans, smashed taters, potato salad, green beans, gumbo and corn pudding. My favorite seasonal side is the cukes & onions. Not too sweet or too tart. Their cornbread is moist & I love it. We tried the peach cobbler the last visit because my hubby had a coupon for a free b-day dessert; it was huge and we enjoyed it especially since it was free. We aren't impressed with their Mac & cheese. It's kinda dry and blah. We are impressed with the friendly staff : )

You go up to the counter and order - the food is prepared fast food style and you take it to your table. On the table is a nice array of sauces - I stuck with the Sweet City sauce - it tends to be my favorite type. They had a special on the whole rack of
