We went here visiting from Indiana. We loved the food and service. I had never had baked beans like those, they were amazing! The mac and cheese was so good too. My husband and I both loved the brisket. My son tried the salmon and said it was really good too. My daughter is really picky so the owner went out of his way to make special chicken strips for her. He was so kind and welcoming. Our family will return next time we’re in the Cincinnati area! The street it’s on is so pretty and calming, too. I enjoyed sitting and just looking at everything. Also, contrary to another review, the sweet tea was amazing!
I don't know what happened with management, but things have definitely improved. The service was prompt, and the smell is just how a barbecue joint should be; smokey and inviting. If you've never had them try the turkey tips I get them every time!
Fairest prices in the city for the bomb of flavor you get. Never had baked beans quite like theirs, it was like a savory brown sugar candy. Yams were delicious and not over sweet. The green beans are packed with seasoning every bite is great. Main course was the smoked turkey tips covered in the best gold sauce I’ve had in this city, amazing brisket, and the soul rolls are killer; stuffed with collards, Mac, and turkey. Finished off the night with an apple cobbler and a convo with the big man himself. Gonna be back every Saturday night for this !
The place was nice looking good customer service I got turkey tips with Mac and cheese & yams came with a roll. The turkey tips were good I only got a hotness of 4 and you could definitely taste the flavor! Yams needed some seasoning they were sweet but tasted plain.
Also got the pork rib tips with greens and green beans cornbread and peach cobbler & banana pudding for dessert The banana pudding was good but I didn’t like the peach cobbler. Overall a lot of different things to choose on the menu I would recommend this place to others.
The girl that took our order should actually take some customer service courses. She wasn't nice at all. The owner was cool and even chatted with us a bit. I got the turkey tips, baked beans, Mac and cheese, and the soul roll. All which were good. Hopefully the business grows and they can get indoor dining.
Great bbq good people love this place. Had the rib tips mac n cheese and collard greens THOSE GREENS 😋
The food was amazing! Had the brisket Mac and cheese and beans! Wow, so amazing! The owner Dwan spoke with us welcomed us and it really felt like family. Both were awesome food and service! Felt God sent to go there and be there! Bless you Dwan and your business!
Q chatted with us while we ate. Students from the college manning the front service did very well and were more talkative than you would expect from a college student. The rib tips were tender and tasty. The brisket (my son had it) was good from his report - remember what I said about the talkativeness of college students. My wife had the chicken and said it was made to perfection and lots of it. The cornbread is southern cornbread, so if you're looking for that sweet muffin that the north makes, this ain't it. That said, very good southern cornbread. I can see parking being an issue on the weekends and the small space for indoor dining make this more of a carryout place but the early summer is perfect for dining in either inside or at the patio bar. This is a great place to eat and interact with the locals on Short Vine.
I came by late on a rainy night, July 20-ish after a full day of move-in, and I couldn’t have asked for a better first experience. I ordered the Turkey Tips meal with slaw and beans and couldn’t get enough of it. Que, the owner and a Cincinnati Football & Academic alumni, served us our food and hung out while the rain passed. Portions were plentiful and tasted fantastic, even after a short walk home. Alabama Que on Short Vine will certainly be atop my rotation for affordable, good-eats in Clifton.
baked beans were the best! sweet, subtle smoke, and totally tasty. Salmon was good. Next time, going to try the pork or turkey. Has a limited bar but just enough to wash down the yummy-ness. Thanks Dwan
First visit after the renovation. The open front window and stainless bar were really well thought out. Ordered a couple of things since I was bringing someone there for their first time. Food was visually appealing and delicious. We actually spoke with the owner while waiting the short time for our food. Down to earth guy who welcomed our suggestions for improvement. It was a GREAT experience. Thumbs WAY HIGH. 👍👍👍
Solely for the food.
First timers so me and family wanted to get a good feel for the menu. Very flavorful. We tried the smoked chicken and turkey tips large dinners with four sides. Definitely going back. Owner was there and he is hands on which is a plus. It's Clifton so not a lot of parking, but certainly worth the walk and wait.
This place is so good. I had the brisket with beans and slaw and it was all great. The brisket melted in my mouth it was so tender and the beans were the best I’ve ever had. The owner can over and chatted with us a minute which was really cool. Back to the beans though. I’m telling you, I’ve never tasted beans like them. I’ve had lots of bbq. beans, but these hit different. So good. The owner loves bbq and loves serving people. It’s a gem of a spot
