Love this place! Discovered it one rainy afternoon when I wanted to take a break from traffic.
My dad would call this place a “red restaurant,” because of the decor, the lighting and the booths. In reality, it’s a “red and green restaurant,” with Italian flags and maps aplenty (don’t miss the map in the ceiling of f the main dining room).
Service is excellent. I like the bar area, “Enrico’s Taverna,” which had some friendly neighborhood locals when I was there.
I’ve come back here three times in recent weeks - it may be my new favorite restaurant in Cincinnati. The wedge salad was a delicious. I also recommend the lasagna and the Mama T’s Italian sausage pizza.
Bonus: their own parking lot, with about 12 spots, including accessible parking for wheelchair users.

What a neat restaurant in Norwood, I had no idea this place was such a cool place! Jacinda was our waitress and she was was best! She allowed us to move tables so we felt more comfortable, was kind, knowledgeable, and friendly! She made sure we were taken care of the entire time! I a def cute little gem of Cincinnati to check out!

ETA: We had visited here during COVID for take out and finally returned to eat in the dining room. The food was still great and so was the service!
We had pizza and garlic bread with cheese and both were really good! They were offering a special for a two topping pizza for $14.99, so we got pepperoni and sausage. The pizza is super cheesy which I love! The garlic bread looked like Texas Toast with cheese, but it too was really tasty. We will be back to try some of their pasta next time.

This was a first visit, and this place is a hidden gem! The service was excellent as we walked in 30 minutes before closing and were able to eat in and receive excellent service. The pizza crust was so delicious. This is definitely a place to return for good pizza, service, and atmosphere! There was an error with pizza toppings, and we didn't even actually pay attention due to being hungry and just enjoying the meal. However, it was brought to our attention, and a new pizza was made. The honesty and exposure to error are positive qualities that will definitely keep people returning!

First time here and I will definitely return! The atmosphere was so quaint. A lot of Cincinnati memorabilia, great music, and wonderful ambiance.
Our party of three each got something different. One of our orders was incorrect and they went ABOVE AND BEYOND to correct it. The food was outstanding! The manager was friendly, the chef came to our table, but the highlight of our night (even more than our food) was our waitress, Kylie. This girl was phenomenal! She was prompt, attentive, full of info about the menu, and just genuinely kind. Ask for her if you go! You won’t be disappointed! 10/10 food and service!

This is my favorite Italian restaurant EVER! It was my family’s first time there tonight, and we loved it. Anything you order is delicious, beautifully presented, flavorful, and fresh. My sister loved how they had an espresso martini, and the taste exceeded expectations! The hospitality is the best. Chef David is very fun and friendly and our waitress was awesome. My family will definitely be back as it’s now our go-to Italian restaurant!

Ordered pepperoni pizza for takeout. Super nice looking restaurant. Pizza was tasty. But The cheese wasn't mozzarella. It was some aged and smelly cheeses. My mouth didn't mind but my stomach did. I was bowled over all night. I am not lactose intolerant and eat pizza once a week. Just a warning folks. Ask about the cheese.

Emma was able to get us in even though they were booked. Our waitress Winnie was great. They all went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. The food is amazing and the wonderful smell when walking into the door makes your mouth water. We will be back with our friends and family.

Really cute spot with really good food, and good portions for the price. The atmosphere is very nice and spacious. You’re not sitting on top of other tables. It’s a must visit spot.

Excellent. It was really cool inside as the pictures show you. Nice outside area. We had the fried ravioli, cheese pizza, and Hungry Wolf (mushrooms, sausage, Canadian Bacon). Service was excellent and food was tasty. I will be back.

Absolutely horrific! Went with a group of friends. There was nobody there when we got there, so we ordered a few drinks. We then placed our orders, the majority of us ordering pizza. While the pizza was good, one of the pizzas was not brought out with the rest of the order. When it finally did arrive, it was raw. We sent it back, and it came back about 25 minutes later. By this time, we were running a little late and asked not to be charged for this pizza. Here's the kicker: small pizza, olives, mushrooms and cheese; less than $2 worth of ingredients and the manager goes ballistic! He even said he was calling the police and escorting us out, for which he never did. So much so that a party of 20 left as well, nice enough to wait in the parking lot to be a witness in case the police did show up. Crazy!!! Other ironic thing:::place not busy at 6:00 on a Saturday night??? Probably good reason why.

There is a lot to like at Sorrentos Pizza in Norwood (not to be confused with Sorrentos in Reading) but there are some issues with consistent food quality and pricing that are holding this storied institution back from the greatness that could be theirs

The pizza here is called thin crust but is fairly thick for this style. Not my favorite, but if you prefer a medium-thick crust I believe you will like their pizza here. The selection of pastas is rather small for an italian eatery, with only red-sauced spaghetti, ravioli, manicotti, and lasagna available -- no alfredo, no clams, no chicken, and no wine/butter/oliveoil-and-garlic based preparations at all. In addition to the above, there are also a handful of hoagie-style sandwiches, some salads and soups, a few appetizers, and a half dozen desserts. The place appears to be family owned and family run, which I generally consider a big plus. They have a front dining room that serves double duty as a "softball hall of fame" full of trophies, photos, and other memorabilia from great local softball teams. Dark wooden floors and kitschy decorations all over the walls makes for a very interesting and unique space to eat in.

The best news is that their red sauce, the traditional lifeblood of any neighborhood italian eatery like they are, is fantastic. Rich, full bodied, neither thick nor thin, more savory and herb-y than sweet - I'd say this is one of the best red sauces to be found in the Cincinnati area, and they deserve to get plenty of business on this basis alone. I rated them a point and a half higher on this basis alone. That said, however, there seems to be some problems with consistency day to day, almost as if (and this is purely a guess here) different recipes are used by different cooks on different days.

Pricing and portioning is a very real and very big problem here. An 8inch plain pizza will run you 9.00, while a 16inch pizza for the family can run as high as 23.00. A tiny loaf of garlic bread, not even enough for two diners, runs 4.00, and a dollar more if you want cheese on it and/or sauce for dipping (trust me - you do). The lasagna is very good, and includes a salad and a few bites of bread, but at 12.50 it is priced at least three dollars higher than it should be for the portion size. The meatball sandwich at 8.50 was enjoyable once I moved all of the meat to one half of the sandwich and ate that, but for 8.50 there should have been enough for the whole sandwich, especially with Betta's just down the street being absolutely packed with large meatballs for 2.50 less. I should add that when I asked for onions to be added to this sandwich, I was told I'd be charged a dollar extra. I didn't argue to point and simply didn't add the onions after all, but these are thrown in as a freebie on this sandwich anywhere else I can think of.

The pricing is even more perplexing given the neighborhood and parking situation. The neighborhood is low income with a lot of homes within easy walking distance, and parking is in a fairly small and poorly maintained lot that is not connected to the restaurant, and there do not not appear to be enough parking spaces in his lot to allow them to fill their fairly large dining room. As a result, I would think the business strategy should be to target carryout lunches for hungry workers from local businesses during the business day, and the low income families in the neighborhood for evenings and weekends. In both cases, I believe that the price point needs to be much lower, but they don't even have a lunch menu; and I do not think this neighborhood is well served by 9 dollar plates of spaghetti, 10 dollar sandwiches, or 20+ dollar pizzas

This is the kind of place that I really, really want to like, particularly given how good their red sauce (usually) is; but at these prices for these portions my meal money generally goes elsewhere
Josh
Stopped in for the first time today, neat little neighborhood spot, bar has a ton of old cincy related sports/concert memorabilia, bar tender was very cute and nice, now onto the food, the italian sausage hoagie, superb, pizza, superb, salad was also spot on, will definitely return....
LUV To Eat Out
Wow....Good Luck with this place..... Got a Lg pepperoni carryout....had a friend pick it up......opened the box and "YOWZA" ....looked like a Lg shrunk to a Med...skimpy cheese, dry as a bone.

Won't be going back anytime soon !!!
Mrs. Pennyapple
Overpriced, small portions. The food was mediocre at best. I had the spaghetti for $11.50 and add 2 very small meatballs for $3. Never got a refill because are waitress didn't check back with us after she brought our food out, don't know what she could've been doing since we were the only customers in the joint. Kids got the pizza that had very little if any sauce on it. Skip this place and go to Olive Garden where at least spending $60 on a family of 4 is worth it & you'll at least have leftovers for lunch the next day. I really wanted to like this place too, so disappointed.

This used to be the best place in the city to get pizza. But the last few times I got carryout my pizza was less then desirable. I have to remind them of this when I order carryout. I took my mother there for dinner last night and it was sad. I ordered the hot sausage hoagie and a large pizza. I had to remove 50 percent of the bread to find two lonely pieces of sausage. I've been ordering this hoagie for 20 yrs. now. and this was the first time i finished it. My pizza was delicious as it should be when you pay $20 dollars for a one topping pizza. When i brought this to there attention i was told things have been bad financially and they would take care of me next time. They've jacked the prices up and there quality has gone down. I hate to see this place go but with practices like this I can't see them staying in business. SORRY.

We were so excited to try Sorrento's, having been voted #5 or #6 on Cincinnati Magazine's "Best Of" list. What a major disappointment! We went with a group of 7 on a Wednesday night and waited over 1.5 hours to get our pizzas. Two of the four pizzas were wrong and the waitress blamed us for having separate checks! The pizza was actually quite delicious, but I would not wait this long again...it was 7:30 on a Wednesday for God's sake...c'mon! The final straw was when the owner gave us a mere 10% off for our 1 hr 45 min wait...and then took the incorrect pizza and cockily walked off and said "I eat all the mistakes.". Hope he enjoyed it because we certainly won't be back!

Disgusting Pizza and arrogant management. Sorrento's some how think that just because they claim to use all fresh ingredients some how makes it impossible for their food to be disgusting. I decided to try them out for the first time. When I ordered over the phone I thought that $9.50 for a small pizza was a bit much but because the person on the phone raved about how fresh and authentic everything is, I decided that I would give them a shot. When I picked it up, there was not one soul besides the guy who took my order and another worker. NO OTHER CUSTOMERS @6pm!!! Red flag #1. The presentation of the pizza literally looked like cheap freezer pizza what little cheese was on it was burned and there was puddles of grease on top of pizza. I called and complained and the guy was sooo rude. The pizza had absolutely no sauce and the guy thought that my complaint was so beyond him. The pizza was the worse and I mean the worse I have ever tasted. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY. They are priced too high and the service and quality is the worse.

Two words. Overpriced salt

Veggie option, I think of your blog as the bible on where to eat good vegetarian food in cincinnati, but I have to disagree with you on sorrentos and hope you give the place another shot. The owner came over to our table of 6 to see how our meal was and said that he was a vegetarian and the margherita pizza was his favorite. We ordered 3 larges: cheese, veggie, and margherita, and devoured all three. Id have to put sorrentos in my top five pizza places with pomodoris, deweys, noces, and donatos.

Disappointing as Italian restaurant, search for Mom & Pop place continues. We've been searching for a good mom & pop Italian place in town, but our dinner at Sorrento's was NOT good and got to the point where we could only shake our heads and laugh. We weren't there for only pizza and sports so maybe that was the problem? Friday night around 7:30, no cars in the parking lot, only three groups inside, a bad sign but we figured we'd try it anyway. Family of 4. Not sure if we got put in the "outsider" penalty box, but it took, I kid you not, 1 hour for our garlic bread with the $2, 2 oz. side of marinara to come out. Meanwhile, the kids were getting restless and everyone that came in after us had their food brought to them quickly. We were the only table for our waitress for a long time, but she spent most of her time reading a freebie paper at the bar while the owner (?)/manager enjoyed his sandwich at the bar. I had to remind her to bring my salad (begrudgingly acknowledged) when she brought my manicotti. Manicotti itself was cold and tough, sauce a bit too salty for me. No dessert for us, we'd been there for too long as it was. Overall disappointing experience, service was horrible, food was mediocre at best. Total bill over $50 added insult to injury. Really hopeful about this local business that's been through a lot, but we won't be going back.

VOTED BEST PIZZA IN CINCY. I read the bogus review by Pizzaman, funny when City Beat has Sorrento's in Best Pizza catagory that this person writes a bad review. Sorrento's uses real tomatoes on their Margherita pizza. Not cans. They use 100% real cheese not processed cheese. Real ingredients cost more. Beer is $2.00 for a draft they have 22 selections at all prices. The salads have pepperoni, provolone cheese tomatoes, comes with Italian bread and butter. For $4.00 that is not bad. Now you can get a Large 16 inch cheese pizza for $13.50 and you can feed a family of 4 for around $20.00 if you don't drink alcohol. So if your going to write about Sorrento's you should at least tell the truth. I have been going there since I graduated from Xavier in the 70's. The DeLuca family treats everyone like family. Sorrento's caters to greater Cincinnati and does not thrive on a Norwood crowd Thank God. We drive from Westchester, Ohio to eat there every week. It is not a ghost town, last Saturday nite there was a 45 minute wait for a table. Keep up the good work Sorrento's and I voted Best Pizza and I hope you win. And PizzaMan eat at LaRosa's or wherever and stay in the dives.
Pizzaman
WAAAAYYYY Overpriced. First off, I love Sorrento's Sausage and pepperoni pizza but unfortunately the buck stops there.

I recently went there and dined in, something I haven't done in a long time, and as usual the place is a ghost town. there were two parties going on but that was it and I have stopped in to get carry out several times at dinner and literally been the only person there. Well there is a very good reason why.

The first problem with the place is the lethargic staff and unkempt atmoshpere .I will say while dining there our waitress was extremely attentive and did a great job the rest of the staff sits at the bar and complains and talks too loudly. It feels like you in someone's basement and not a nice place to eat. every time i pick up food to go the owner and management are just hanging around in a very unprofessional manner that is kind of uncomfortable for most folks.

The second and most important problem are the prices. I mean come on, this is Norwood not Hyde Park. $3 for a domestic beer in a pizza place like this is absurd. 4.75 for a side salad with two pepperoni that is the size of my fist is insane. I understand that places have overhead but the original to my knowledge was never this pricey. These are Dewey's prices with half the service and none of the care and quality. this all is the main problem and why you are dead. You are a local family friendly style pizza joint. It isn't friendly when it costs you 50 bucks to take a family of 4 there to eat. Lower your prices and take pride in the service as well as your atmosphere and you will shine again. But for now you should take note that even the locals that so wanting this historic gem to shine once more have abandoned you for all but the once a year stop in.

I will say however the food is still very good. My wife had the margarita pizza which she loved and looks very appetizing but $14 for a small is extremely high. I always have the pepperoni and sausage which the sausage is amazing but very greasy. a medium costs $14 for that tasty pie. So the trip was not a total loss.

I hate to bring such a dismal light to a place that means so much to so many but when you see a problem it should be noted. I hope they take some time and consider revamping the prices and the ambiance for these times and bring back the soul that made you famous once.
Angie
The Best Pizza in Cincy. This has got to be Cincinnati's finest pizza in Cincinnati. They have a sauce like no other and the sausage is to die for. I have never had a pizza like this nowhere in Cincy, Chicago would love this pizza. So glad we found a place to eat real Italian pizza from a real Italian family with an old world crust and recipe of real Italian food. Bless all the DeLuca family. I cannot believe how cheap their beer prices are. A draft of beer for only $2.00, their prices are so reasonable compared to other places in Hyde Park and Cincinnati. The girls are so kind and wait on you like you were in a 5 star restaurant, no ego's here only good food and service.
Barb
Best Pizza in Cincy. We moved here from Philly and we finally found the best pizza ever. We were treated like family and that means a lot to us. Congrats to the DeLuca family for giving us the best pizza in Cincinnati.

Good if you like to pay a lot for bad pizza.

Everything is so fresh!. Italians take pride in their food, and these Italians know exactly how to do it. A fine establishment that has been around a long time in Norwood. The sauce is hand made from ripe tomatoes just the way they do it in Italy. The crust for their pizza is perfect! Thin and crispy and just the right amount of seasoning. The Margarita Pizza is a must buy! I highly recommend this to all Cincinnati-ans!

A Classic Favorite. Without a doubt, one of the best original pizza places in the city. Great service (both at the bar and dining room. The atmosphere is great, especially if you appreciate sports. I still reminisce about the long walk from Cincinnati Gardens after a Cyclones victory to Sorrento's and watching Enrico DeLuca entertain the crowd with his various skills. Enrico is no longer there, but the family has kept up the pace delivering top-notch pizzas at a good price. In my opinion the sauce is the best part, slightly spicy and rich, yet a perfect balance to the chewy crust. The DeLuca's and Pizza is one combination that has survived the test of time!
Eric
The Best after 55 years. Sorrento's did not remodel Sorrento's had a fire that took the life of the owner Enrico DeLuca. They have only used the finest ingredients and have served the Greater Cincinnati area faithfully receiving many food awards and accolades, it is evident that this person calling himself Jay has written a bogus comment, trying to hurt the DeLuca Family and Sorrento's, well grow up, Sorrento's has been in existance for over 55 years and some little comment written by some wanabee restaurant owner will never make a dent on Sorrento's. Grow Up we know who you are you are only fooling yourself, sorry about your bad business.
Dan
GREAT FOOD. We were in there tonight to watch the UC game with our family. The food was excellent, we are from Michigan and we were in heaven when we finally found real pizza with 100% cheese and old world style pizza. The service was 4 stars my best to the DeLuca family for serving the Cincinnati community for over 50 years. Thanks and Lindsey was a great server. We wish her all the luck with her new baby. For all you out of towners who grew up with Little Italy's you will love this pizza.
BigMike
REAL CHEESE REAL FOOD. I have to be honest I have been going there all my life. The pizza is simply the best. They are the only pizzeria I know that still uses real ingredients to make their pizza. Even with the economy the way it is Sorrento's gives you 100% REAL CHEESE, no one I mean no one does that anymore. They make their own bread and sausage, who does that anymore that is why they are the BEST. It would have broken my heart if the restaurant didn't reopen after the DeLuca family reopened the restaurant. One thing is for sure if something goes wrong they will make it right for you and your family. I remember seeing Pete Rose at the bar and they have a salad named after him.
BIG TOM
?????. Not the best pizza I ever had! Very salty, and greasy.... After being very disapointed with the pizza, I thought I would try a Cannoli..... When the waitress brought out this huge plate, with a 2 inch snoshage looking Cannoli out that was rolling around on the plate, I thought I must be on candid camera! I would never go back!
Joe
Pizza Heaven at Sorrento's. The Margherita Pizza is the best in Cincinnati, best place to watch sports on all those big screens, the place is beautiful and to think there is finally a real pizza in Cincinnati, reminds me of Little Italy in NY
Mulligan
Not the best pizza - not close. The best pizza in Cincinnati is Noce's Pizza - one in Cheviot and now a new one in Montgomery - the stuff served at Sorrento's is not even close - in fact there is no pizza in town close to Noce's - every other place blows!!!
Roth
Hate to dis' a local family business, but I just spent $50.89 for dinner for two tonight. I went there as a kid and remember liking it enough. Tonight the food was just mediocre. My GF got a small Margherita pizza for $14. Dunno, maybe I'd expect that price for a pie with gourmet toppings, but this was not the case. Pizza looked like a sub-par frozen variety. I'm the last to put down a locally owned business, but it's just not for me. The reputation of Sorrento's preceeds it. I'm glad it has a solid following, I'm just not part of it.
AJ
Feels like family. Sadly, I have had Sorrentos pizza several times and only eaten at the location once. However, it has a great atmosphere and very good pizza. Its a thin crust and a little greasy, but what pizza doesn't have grease? I've ordered out so many times that they recognize me now! Nice people, great pizza. If they delivered, I would be in heaven!
Joe
A good place to go after a Xavier game. The pizza here tastes better than it looks - It's all thin crust, the sauce wasn't bad, but the pepperoni & Italian sausage topings made the pizza. We also had the mozzerela which was not the best. However, they have a good selection of beer on tap including Morreti, which is a enough for a recommendation from me.
Will E
Pizza's good, salad's aren't. I was impressed by the service and the atmosphere, but the side salad I ordered was extremely overpriced and it was not good. The lettuce was brown and bitter. The pizza, however, was quite good. Go for the pizza, skip the salad.
Sarah Rose
The owner should try not to be so vocal about politics. I tried to enjoy a dinner but it was overshadowed by her slamming our president. I guess that's Norwood for you.
Cheviot Sports Authority
Best Pizza ANYWHERE!. I have eaten pizza in 48 of the 57 Obama states and the Margherita Neopolitin (Queen of Italy) pizza is the best I have had anywhere. Absolutely superb crust with tomatos, seasoning and olive oil instead of sauce. Add pepperoni, sausage and mushroom and this was the best ever.
Sebastian
2nd best pizza in cincy. I love sorrento's, its a close second place to Mio's pizza.
love the crust and sauce.
Cincinnati Pizza
Sorrento's Pizzeria has been serving Cincinnati for nearly 54 years, opening its doors on August 10, 1956 and is still family owned and operated. Kevin headed over to Norwood to pick us up a pepperoni pizza and a margherita pizza. Sorrento's turned out me
Joe
Sorrento's is an old Italian bar with a lot of character, and a great place to go after a Xavier game. The pizza here tastes better than it looks.

For several years, I'd lived less than a mile from Sorrento's Pizza, located at 5143 Montgomery Road, in Norwood. That didn't stop me from ignoring it like the plague, however. We'd heard a lot of good things about their pizza yet, despite that, we still
