The best onion rings in tow! The best hot met cheese cpney ("hot all the way" means onions and mustard), best milkshakes, and Chicago dog. I pretty much get the same thing over and over again; but based on what my colleagues say it's all excellent. Friendly people working there. It is definitely off the beaten path… yet lots of people beat a path to their door!

I've live on the west side of Cincinnati my entire life had pretty much every coney in the city and I have to say that the chili cheese hot mett at Mr. Gene's is hands down the best coney in Cincinnati.

My dad’s name is Gene and he loves hot dogs.  I mean LOVES hot dogs.  If he sees a hot dog stand somewhere, that’s all he needs to be happy.  Give the man a hot dog, a bag of chips, a small drink and he is golden!  There were plenty of times as a teenager I rolled my eyes over “lunch” at a hot dog stand.  So finding a hot dog place in Cincinnati called Mr. Gene’s Dog House, well, how could I pass that up?

Break the Chain. So wonderful to have this little breath of fresh air which allows you to savor good food without the cookie cutter chain experience... The Italian sausage is delicious as well as the Chicago Hot Dog.. I was born and raised in Chicago and this place reminds me of the many many Mom & Pop places that the Chicago area has. Cincinnati needs more of these vs the same ol Franchises......

Pretty Good Dog. Just tried some Chicago dogs from Mr. Gene's food truck on the square. This is the second time I have seen them down here since transferring back to the tower and both times the food has been pretty darn good. Is it spot on Chicago? No...but it isn't too far off. Thanks for a delicious lunch...wish you were down on the square more often.

Okay im a Skyline fan any day of the week over Goldstar, but when i see Mr Gene's food truck downtown, I've got to have it. Ill take it over Skyline. Try the Doberman, you see what im talking about.
Great friendly service, perfect quick lunch spot

Old School. Cool little throw-back to a different era kind of place. It reminds me of a walk-up dairy bar. You walk up to the window and order, there is no dining room, though there are some picnic tables out back, or just eat in your car. There is also a drive through. The dogs are good, and the buns they use are great, good crispy fries too. Their standard seems to be a coney, though their chili is not really "Cincinnati style" chili, but more of a typical chili dog variety. The Chicago dog was tasty and messy, just as it should be. If I lived in the area I'd be a regular, but it's a little out of the way for me. Great little retro-style hot dog joint!

We always drive thru vs standing and ordering. No dining area but the food is amazing. Well worth driving to it! Not a large menu but what they do they do great! The BBQ with slaw and cheese is my favorite along with cheese fries. So much cheese you can barely find the fries. They have been around for so many years, everyone here knows this place. Love it!

I'd heard of this restaurant but never visited. I finally visited about 2 weeks ago and had a chili dog with a mat. This was the most tastiest chili dog I've ever had. Since then I've been back twice and every time they've been consistent. I will be back next year!

Picked up some (delicious) dogs and brought them to Great American for a Reds walk-off home run win. Doesn’t get much better than that!!

Mr. Genes is one of our favorite places. My son calls it the dancing hot dog because of the sign. He's made great friends with one of the workers and we look forward to seeing her every week.

Mr. Gene the Hot Dog Machine. The dogs are always tasty and well assembled. Gene's has a variety, including a legit Chicago Dog. The Coneys are spot on, as are the hot Metts. Going back this week and going to try something else on the menu, maybe the Hot Italian-whatever-it-is and maybe something else, or maybe another Chicago Dog. They have a covered outdoor seating area out back that will keep the sun off you, and the rain as well, unless it is a horizontal, Forest Gump, kind of rain. My recommendations below are based purely on what I have eaten. If I didn't recommend it, it is because I have not tried it, yet.

Great little hidden gem! So many items to try. I had a regular chili cheese and a reuben dog. Both were spectacular. The staff was even more amazing!! Thank you!

By far the best hot dog joint in Cincinnati! They do the Chicago dog 100% accurate. The Italian sausage sandwich is also the best in Cincinnati! Onion rings are probably the best I’ve ever had. Chicken wings are on point as well!

This place has been here for over 50 years...It has changed so much...food more expensive and quality not as good. Hot dogs are lost in the buns because they are so small now...shakes don't have as much flavor...

Hands down, the best chili dog you'll ever eat. Don't let the price scare you. 2 coneys here is easily more food than 3 skyliners
