A beautiful modern space with excellent lighting, a good music playlist, and impeccable service. I've visited this restaurant a couple of times, and each time, the food is divine, the ambience is perfect, and the vibe is just right. The food is quite delicious. This time I had the Melanzana (eggplant) and was out of this world, beautifully prepared and proportioned quite well. Cocktails are always on point and the seafood always fantastic! If you're near the area, consider this place for a fine experience. The staff has always been accommodating and on point with selections, offerings, and anything else you may need.
It's a tale of two dishes. We started with a steak tartare. As this was our first bite ever at Il Palato, we were thrilled to taste a well seasoned, wonderfully prepared tartare. We savored this appetizer and looked forward to what would come. But what came next was an unmemorable salad. Not that there was anything wrong with either of our salads, but neither of them stood out. I was looking forward to the fish of the day, but by 7pm there were none to be had. So I settled on the pork Milanese. The pork itself was well prepared: beaten very thin, breaded, and fried just right. It was buried under a mountain of tomatoes that, although tasty, overshadowed the meat. Perhaps the most perplexing was the accompanying corn puree. It was quite flavorful, but had no business being with this otherwise Italian dish. In fact, it brought with it hints of maize and TexMex rather than Italian. In a different dish, I would have enjoyed it more.
IL Palato is a cute restaurant settled in a non-busy area within Clayton, MO. I was greeted by the owner/manager upon entering the restaurant. There weren’t many patrons at the time so he allowed me to select where I’d like to be seated. The overall ambience is very appealing with a sleek, trendy vibe. The service was pretty good and our server was pleasant. The food was okay, which was a little disappointing. We both ordered salads. I ordered the short rib ravioli and my friend the short rib entree. The ravioli was pretty basic and didn’t leave much desire to try again. The short rib entree tasted much better but lacked seasoning; however, it left room to want to try again as long as more seasoning was added. We both had one of the speciality margaritas and the flourless chocolate cake. Both of those were delicious. I would be willing to give the restaurant another try but definitely won’t order the ravioli again.
My group was a party of 10 and we were taken care of by Russell. Russell was absolutely amazing, 10/10! We ordered way too dishes to keep up with lol but I will say that the food was very tasty. I definitely recommend the eggplant starter, DELICIOUS.
What an absolute GEM! The menu was well thought out, we loved our dishes. The service was laid back but attentive. The wine list is a wine lovers dream😍The ambiance is modern chic.
The Orange Glazed pound cake dessert offered the perfect aromatic and sweet ending- definitely get dessert. So many bubbles by the glass 🤩
Upon walking into this restaurant, there was an upscale but young vibe. The floor to ceiling glass in the front brings in so much natural light that makes it such a bright and beautiful atmosphere. There is outdoor seating, which is a nice option. There are tables away from the natural light so that there can be some more privacy for a more intimate meal, if desired. The food was impeccable with a well thought out menu, including options for all "palates". (See what I did there?) The servers know the daily specials very well, are just the right amount of attentive, and are quick to recommend wine pairings with your order. Every item ordered by our party was raved about. I was trying to be healthy and ordered the Pollo (Chicken), which was savory, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. Other members of my party were particularly fond of the eggplant appetizer, although I didn't try it personally. Portions were a decent size, which was a nice surpise! I have two negative comments. First, is that one person had a piece of plastic in their cannoli. He didn't want to make a big deal about it, so I am not even sure if he told anyone about it. To be fair, the actual cannoli was good enough that he ate another one even after the plastic incident. Second, the bartender did not seem well-versed in cocktails that were not on their menu. These were both minor items to us, but I would be remiss if I didn't mention them.
We eat here regularly and have not been disappointed. The Melanzana appetizer is a favorite. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable.
Great restaurant. Fish was perfectly cooked and tested amazing. Linguini had a nice bite and very delicate flavorful sauce. Service was very pleasant. Owner was there checking on service and customers-nice guy. In the old Remy restaurant , space has been redone and wonderful. Highly recommend. Will definitely go back again.
A great local restaurant. The food is exquisite the service was great and prices were quite good . I would highly recommend this place . Would recommend reservations as it’s quite popular with the locals
We’re surprised to see the poor reviews. The decor is beautiful and classy. Our service and dinner was perfect. The bread, salads, and entrees were delicious. I had orecchiette with clams, shrimp, and scallops; and my husband had scallops over risotto. We will definitely be back.
