The best happy hour. Our first time here was last night. We got there around 6:00 for Happy hour. Love the romantic interior, detail oriented setting and staff. We also personally loved ordering on the iPad or tablet it made for fast service. The wine and cocktail selection is great and the menu has tons of vegetarian options especially the happy hour menu. We are sure to frequent this place! Oh and we loved the music that was playing as well!
Awsome! Great to hit before a show @ ruth eckerd. Great food & wine; try the spinach gnocchi. Its to die for!!
Nice dining experience. Good food - friendly staff
The atmosphere, the food is amazing!!
A really enjoyable experience. We had dinner here before a show at Ruth Eckerd Hall. A very nice wine by the glass selection with a knowledgeable staff. They offer different size pours so you can try several or pair small glasses with food. A good selection of tapas, from appetizers to full size selections. We had the crab cake, spinach dip, roasted beet salad, ceviche and steak frite. My wife thought the beets needed more roasting and thought they might have come out of the can. Everything else was excellent. You can order everything from the Ipad at the table so you can control when each thing comes out. A little gimmicky but was still pretty cool. Our server told us that this place was started up by one the original Outback guys.
Tried it, loved it.. We got in just after opening at 5, so not too busy. Our waiter gave us menus and iPads -- the iPads have pictures of every item -- and said we could order right off the iPad or through him. We ordered the short ribs and spinach gnocchi Marseilles. Menu prices, at least for food, are very reasonable, with only a couple dishes priced over $15. Most dishes offer a small or large portion. When I asked my waiter which one was pictured on the iPad, he said the large, but my large gnocchi Marseilles had more shrimp, scallops and mussels than the picture. We, along with the just-seated patrons at the next table, had a strange lack of attention by our waiter at check-paying time, but otherwise couldn't have been more pleased.
What a great Place! Sleek posh and sophisticated, in the heart of a fab area. Love it! Try the 4 cheese satchels and enjoy the iPads. Could eat here my entire life!
Top Notch. My wife and I have really enjoyed having this around the corner from our house. Everything we've tried has been top notch, and the service has never disappointed.
Good Food But.... Let me start of by saying the food here is excellent. It is priced reasonably and never disappoints (the wine on the other hand is a bit pricey). The short ribs are one of my favorites. Now, on to the bad parts. You have to order using an ipad. I HATE this. I stare at a computer most of my work day and have an iphone that I carry for work. the last thing I want to do when I go for a nice meal is stare at another screen or have to deal with technology. It makes the dining experience very sterile. It is also extremely frustrating for me because I am gluten intolerant, but I can't tell the ipad that. There are certain items that allow for you to make special instructions, but not all of them. Plus, it is quite hard to ask the ipad about ingredients, prep, etc.
Speaking of gluten free, they have a nice list of gluten free items. On that list is Meatballs. They are NOT gluten free!!! On a whim, I wanted to be doubly safe and noted it when I placed my order through the ipad. Thankfully, someone checked and caught it. If I hadn't been double safe and just went along with their gluten free list, it would have been a very long, bad night.
An oasis. Absolutely lovely, unique place. Stylish, relaxing atmosphere and varied, interesting food selection. We've loved every dish we've tried without exception. Friendly but professional service. A great place for a date or dinner with old friends.
Awesome. I took my date to carmel last night on a recomendation from a friend. It was a totally great experience. Our server, Natalie was highly informative and knowledgeable of the wine list and pairings. The high point was the chick pea fries! In a desert of chicken wings and onion rings. This was a pure oasis of eclectic, freshly cooked nirvana. Thank You.
Cool Spot. Went there tonight with my wife. Trendy, fun and great for date night or meeting friends. The menu is very trendy, think of Ceviche with a Mediterranean flare, but less crowded and more casual. They have varied size "pours" of wine so you can have a 3 oz pour of a white to go with your chicken or seafood. then get a 3 or 6 oz pour of a red to accompany your beef or lamb dish. The portions come in small Tapas sizes or larger meal sizes. We got the Lamb Lollipops- awesome with a minted Tzatziki sauce. The Lollipop meatball with marinara were good, but I wouldn't get those again, The Steak Frites is a nice portion of steak (I think flank) served with Bernaise sauce, sliced on the bias along with fries. The Chicken dish was the Mediterranean one with couscous, not bad. The Short Ribs rocked along with a creamy Polenta. I would get the Lamb Lollipops and Short Ribs for sure again. We will be back to try more things, but will bring friends too! Also, they give you Ipads to view the menu or pper menus. We had both, but were able to browse the Ipad to see what wines paired best with our food. Very cool spot that will get busy- so go while people don't know about it yet! Fri and Sat nights there is live music at 9pm.
A new winning concept.. When it comes to the Sullivan family from the Outback, you can be assured that they have developed a great concept.
The ambiance is non threatening and rather eclectic!. Beer and wine only, but don't let that discourage you from a wonderful experience,. The wines are from around the world and they even host wine tasting events and build a menu around the wine. You can get a 3oz or 6oz or 9oz pour on the glass of wine, or simply purchase a bottle.
The menu is very reasonable priced with a flare. I found the Tomato Margherita
ripe plum tomatoes, fresh mozzarella,
Parmesan Reggiano, fresh basil and was delivered to the table quickly. It was crisp with fresh ingredients.
The next course was Minestrone Verde prepared to perfection followed by Seared Ahi Tuna
seared rare, edamame hummus, vegetable crisps one of my favorites and fresh!
They are now open for lunch and have just begun a Sunday dinner PRIX-FIXE DINNER FOR TWO • $24.95. That is not a typo! It includes a four course dinner and even the dessert.
Hidden gem in the area. I was so happy to have learned of this cafe. It's so hard to find a place with good food that is open late. The service was great, and the food was very good. The portions are on the small size, but it's enough food for a regular sized adult. I had the "small" braised short rib with polenta, and it was my favorite dish (as compared to the others that I went with), although everyone else's dishes were still good. The "small" short rib is enough for a light eater.
I like that they have a tablet that tells you what dishes go with what wines.
If you are looking for a good meal late night on a Friday or Saturday, this is the place to go. It's only open late on Fridays and Saturdays (till midnight).
Date night perfection!. This is a great place for a couples date night but could easily be a place to hang with friends. Comfortable seating and atmosphere. The decor is beautiful and chic! You can sit alone at a booth or group together on the comfy couches. Life music on the weekends. Wine list is awesome. Food is simply delicious. Crab cakes are a must have. The lamb pops are also delicious. We've been 4 times and never had a bad waitress. Always nice and attentive but not overly in your face. This is my fave place near our house. The IPads are a nice conversation starter for a first date... :)
Great wine list AND great food. It seems that the wine bistro concept craze seems to be rife with good wine and mediocre food.
Carmel has a great wine list AND the food is outstanding. Great job!
Very chill environment, usually a live acoustic singer, busy bar, and yummy tapas!! A great addition to the area!!
A pleasant surprise was the wine list, I had heard and read about the food another delight was my server. Kaylie was attentive but not intrusive. Will be back :)
Fabulous!. Been here many times. Never once have I had a less than perfect meal or service~
Great servers, guys behind the bar are friendly and engaging, if they aren't slammed ;). Love the different ounces of wine that can be ordered.
Totally addicted to the short rib~ I get the large portion and eat it the next day~the polenta is to die for. Have had a few other items, goat cheese and beets (loved), steak frittes (will get w/out aioli next time) and ceasar salad.
Great vibe, perfect lighting, hip w/ a touch of elegance. LOVE love this place!!!! I drive here weekly from St. Pete to eat the short rib. Love it. Great job, Chris!!!!
Better than Ceviches!. What a delicious dining experience. The atmosphere is cozy and romantic. The wine list is extensive and allows you to order 3,6, or 9 oz. Pours. A great way to try a few different wines with your meal.
We started with the edamame hummus. It was served with rice crisps and had a little zing to it. Looking forward to trying some of the other spreads soon! We asked if we could also have a few pita chips, and they were brought out to us right away. Very accommodating!
We then had the steak frites and skordalia shrimp. Both were recommended by our server Patrick, and both were amazing. The aioli sauce on the steak was finger licking good. They cooked our meat as requested and it was truly delectable. Will definitely order the steak frites again.
We both ordered a 3oz pour of a new wine before dessert. We tried the pound cake with strawberries. What a great end to an amazing meal.
We will definitely be back to try many more items on the menu!
Overall, a great place.
Great!. Great new restaurant! Soothing atmosphere and wide menu choices of tappas. Definitely will be back to visit!!
Instant favorite. My wife and I immediately added this restaurant to our favorites the first time we dined with them. The staff, service, and selection of food and wine make this place a winner. Don't miss my favorites : tuna with edamame hummus and the shrimp ceviche.
You will not be disappointed!
Never Thought I Was A Grazer.... I'm a hearty-eater type, but I like all the small-plate options and variety at this new place and I left satisfied and full. I could go back lots of time and never have the same thing twice although I'm already hooked on the steak frittes, Moroccan lemon chicken, and the hummus platter. I don't usually order dessert, but the pound cake with strawberries, which sounds simple and maybe dull, is a genuine surprise. It's almond-intense, served warm and has a crisp crust like it was fried or something. It's really good.
Great Overall Experience. Terrific food and warm chic atmosphere. My wife and I dined with our 2 children (6 & 9) and enjoyed a wonderful meal in a very comfy booth. The small (tapas like) menu options were ideal for sharing and trying many different plates. Perhaps most notable was how quickly our orders were filled; about 5 minutes for most orders. This made it easy to order 3-4 things, try them and then order some more, which we did several times. Also seems like it woudl be a great place for a glass of wine with friends and some shared dishes, rather than a long sit down dinner. Seating options included booths, standard tables, a lounge-like area with sofas and armchairs with small coffe tables, tall large stool seating tables, and a very nice bar. We will definitely go again.
