Cafe Tandoor is pretty solid as far as local Indian restaurants go. The food is quite tasty, especially (and perhaps unsurprisingly) the tandoor dishes. I've never seen biryani served with a heavy, creamy curry sauce before, but it was also good (if a bit odd). Service and prices are so-so (be forewarned: you do have to pay extra for rice, which is rather strange). One of the best things about the restaurant is that the kitchen is actually capable/willing to adjust spice levels all the way from true "gringo mild" to ultra-fiery (be sure to put the TP in the freezer for tomorrow morning).
Always a great experience dining here. The food is incredible. And service has always been wonderful.
I went there with my mother for dinner service. Staff was nice, service was quick and good server was very attentive. The appetisers were quite nice paneer pakora, and samosa were made fresh and served quick, my mother really like one of the chutney which came with samosa. While main course was okay in my opinion. But in all, the food and service experience was pleasant. The portions of meal were pretty big. We had to pack most of the food to bring back home. Interiors and atmosphere was really good i liked it very much.
Aljune the owner personally oversees each guests' satisfaction. Friendly staff, generous portions, for a great price. Kids welcome. Clean, nice ambient music.
My family and I have thoroughly enjoyed Cafe Tandoor for years. The food is delicious and the folks who run it are top-notch. This is a neighborhood gem.
July 2021: I had a taste for Indian food and decided to give this restaurant a shot. I ordered the butter chicken, white rice, and naan to go. It was delicious, but the portions were smaller than I would've expected. Conclusion: I will have to go back for the dine in experience and to try their version of the lamb vindaloo.
Pros:
* Tasty authentic Indian food. The homemade spicy hot sauce is amazing with a kick by American standards.
* I did takeout, but the dine-in experience looked interesting. There are both indoor and outdoor seating options at the Taylor Road location. The soft, subtle world music playing in the background added to the ambience.
* Equal opportunity employer. I noticed an African American waitress delivering food to customers seated outside.
* They accept cash and credit cards.
* They allow customers to call-in and order food for takeout.
* They serve alcohol beverages, if you're into that.
Cons:
* Portions slightly smaller for takeout probably due to the container sizes. In my experience, it seems that more food is given when dining in at Indian restaurants.
This is a consistently good Indian restaurant. The dining room atmosphere is nice. There is a vegan menu- I recommend that vegans instruct the weight staff to write "vegan" at the top of the order. I really like the dal and the roti! My guests thought the butter chicken was delicious.
I love this place! Everyone is great! The atmosphere is very calm and inviting…the food is great and the potions are even better!
We had an amazing lunch! The service was great, we asked for recomendations and the Butter Chicken was amazing! We were also able to try the yellow rice. It is their special house rice and should definitely appear on your order :) amazing indian food and service!
Very pleased with dinner and they were so accommodating to my gluten free vegan requests. The food was amazing and service was great.
With authentic recordings of sitar music in the background, the atmosphere is perfect. You can actually have a quiet, intimate conversation! Food is delicious. They do charge extra for the rice, which some complain about. But their prices for their wonderfully aromatic meals are very reasonable. Definitely try their onion kulcha bread! Big on cleanliness, the staff is always welcoming. They serve alcohol, and some Indian wines and beer.

Had reservations for 7 ppl and was seated promptly at a nice table, let me say from the bottle of wine to the water provided was excellent, our server whom I forgot his name was really attentive and his recommendations was definitely worth the price, food was tasty and portions were ample we truly enjoyed the food and will most definitely be back also love the atmosphere and rest of staff was nice and friendly too, if you're looking to enjoy some nice Indian cuisine definitely Cafe Tandoo is worth the try.
They were having a rough night because they were down staff; however, they were very apologetic about the delay. The food was fresh. It could have been spicier. And you do need to order rice separately as it doesn’t come with your entree. We both had Chicken Tikka Masala. Indian is usually a good option for those needing to eat gluten free, and the man taking our order was knowledgeable.
Love it, tasty food to a good price!
I had takeout for 3 people with a decent wait time and the most amazing naan bread. While waiting was the staff super friendly and a great atmosphere inside. Can only recommend, no mater if you're dining in or taking out
Test was good. But Desert makes my day. Spice level medium+ is perfect.
Stumbled across this sweet place for dinner- we were in a rush and the server/cooks ushered us in with the swiftest kindness. The food was fresh, cozy, and perfectly spiced. The guava/pom drinks were divine, and the absolute precious server complimented our night by sneaking rice pudding into my to go box. Would 100% visit again. 🤍 thank you!
Don't be fooled by the simple storefront appearance. The food is absolutely smashing. We ate too much but it was worth it try several different menu items. We had a variety of meat and vegetarian choices and they were all excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful as well. If you're concerned about Indian food because you think it'll be too spicy you don't have to worry about Cafe Tandoor. The flavors were rich but not spicy at all.
