Favorite Sushi spot in Metro Detroit! Great customer service and the food never fails! Prices have changed a bit from the menu uploaded on Zomato, but I have no problem paying the difference when the food has such great authentic quality!! Friendly staff and great food presentations! Definitely will be back very soon!
I've never had a bad roll or meal here, but carryout can be spotty. I've learned to add five or ten minutes to the quoted time on the phone. Also, the menu available here is not up to date, nor does it reflect current pricing. For example, the chicken teriyaki lunch box is $11.95 now instead of the $8.95 that is shown right now. I grabbed a carryout menu and intend to upload an updated version as soon as possible. They have some of the best ginger dressing in the area.
Favorite sushi place!. This is an amazing restaurant. The staff and owner are always so friendly and helpful. I've never had a bad experience, and everything is plated so wonderfully! Great selection of sake too.
This was a very nice establishment, loved the presentation of the food we ordered. The salmon was a bit overcooked and didn't seem as fresh, the water had a weird aftertaste so I ended up having ordering a beverage when I would've preferred to have water. Overall great sushi and chicken teriyaki. I will be back just not for the salmon or water.

Definitely the premier sushi restaurant in the eastern suburbs of metro Detroit! Here is why:
Service: some of the friendliest service I've ever had any restaurant anywhere, staff is courteous and if not too busy will chat with you. On top of that you are never left waiting too long.
Decor: the place is small and intimate, definitely a great place to take a day and it truly feels authentically Japanese. This is ironic because the owner is Korean but that does not detract from the excellent decor.
The food: the sushi is as best as can be realistically expected as Detroit is not a coastal city and the ownership is Korean not Japanese. This means the sushi is good, not great but good and on par with all of the other sushi restaurants in the eastern suburbs. Practically this means I rate the sushi 3.5 out of 5 but because of the decor and service I will bump it up to a 4.
As for the Korean food it is very good and to get better you would need a Korean mother cooking for you in her own kitchen, 4/5.
The only drawback I can think of is that it is a tad pricey. Asahi is easily 4/5 but because of the Decor and the staff I will have to bump it up to 5/5.
Great sushi!. YUM! Went there all the time while I was visiting, the fruit roll and veggie roll were my favorite, and I also partook of the bibimbop which was outstanding. Nice staff, great miso soup, nice place to go for sushi!
Fresh & Delicious!. I recently moved to Michigan from Phoenix and was homesick for some authentic sushi like I would get at Sushi Eye back in Ahwatukee. Asahi Sushi definitely delivered! Everything was delicious and the presentation is beautiful! I will be frequenting this place for sure. In addition, the entire staff is attentive to everyone's needs - regardless of who took your order. Two thumbs up. Thanks Asahi!
Ashai. Let me start off by saying i love this place, not only do they have great food but their hospitality is on point as well. I and my girlfriend are basically regulars at this place. We get smiles every time we walk in, now i'm not sure if it's because we are recognized but it just shows the good nature of the people here, we have gotten more then a couple complimentary appetizers. But let me talk about the Sushi. I have things i get every time, they are mostly all Nigiri Salmon and Smelt Roe, Tuna and Surf Clam. Have never had a complaint about a piece, it always comes to the table very fast and looking nice. Also their Bibimbap is awesome and comes with a raw egg over top which you stir into the heated bowl of rice, beef and a variety of veggies. Bottom line is this is definitely a go for any of you who haven't checked it out yet.
Birthday Dinner. I was looking for a Korean Restaurant to celebrate my Birthday and found this on Urban Spoon. There were four in our group and we all enjoyed our dinner and desert. All agreed on a return visit soon.
One of the best sushi restaurants in the area. Great service and excellent plate presentation. It is a perfect spot for a quiet evening and great food. I would recommend this to anyone, even if they dont like sushi!
Best sushi on the east side. I love kona grill but this takes a close 2nd. Their staff is so friendly and the food is great. Now I don't have to drive fer for great sushi.
Best Sushi Around. Quailty is top notch.. For my birthday they went above and beyond, they even went next door for cake. My daughter even likes to go here just to see the how they make the food (she hates everything lol) The Staff is wonderful. They even make their own soy sauce.. Great place..
Best Sushi in Town!!!. If you want awesome sushi- go to Asahi. By far the best of the Eastside- if not the tri-county area. The Michigan roll and the Volcano rolls are our favorites, but we have NEVER had a bad meal here. The salad and soup are tops as well.
Chang and James make the best sushi in the tri-county area... Hawaiian Volcano and Vince and Joe specialty rolls are a must have

One of the best sushi restaurants around! James and Chang ,the father son sushi chef combo, show their commitment to quality and taste in every carefully prepared piece of sushi. Their prices are very fair and their food quality is second to none. They have a great lunch discount valid mon-fri. I go to Asahi 2 to 3 times weekly and still enjoy every last bite. Free wifi and comfortable friendly atmosphere is an added bonus, dealing with the elderly Vince and Joe shoppers next door is not. Do yourself a favor and try Asahi Sushi!! Only downfall is there is no liquor liscense yet.

Very friendly staff, prices reasonable, clean and comfy place for sushi. The east side has too few sushi places so it's nice to see one, but in this case you have work a little to find the place. It's behind a building and in a strip mall @ garfield and canal roads.
The service is impeccable! I've been here at least three separate times and each time the waitstaff was amazing. The dining room isn't very big, but it was only me and one to two others. So, we didn't mind. It's clean and the food is delicious. Pricing seems to be on par with other sushi places. However, I enjoy this place and drive further to visit it because of the service and presentation. They always aim to please and they succeed every time.

I come to this excellent restaurant many times as I like the special atmosphere that is outline this restaurant. The personel is extremely loving and skilfull. The service is deeply fast. Most important, the food you eat is magnificent. I frequent often and I was always satisfied. The payment is reasobable. I highly suggest this place to to everybody.
Best sushi in the Detroit Area. Great presentation and large serving sizes. I eat here regularly. You can get a delicious filling meal for $15-20.
