I have lived in the area for 5 years and have always driven pass this place. Finally after hearing great things i decided to try it. I showed up at 10am this morning and got a 12 piece bucket and mac and cheese. First off...how awesome is it that you can get broasted chicken at 10am!! When you walk in you feel like you stepped in a time machine. Nothing has changed in 60 years and thats a great thing!!! My only concern was how im not gonna eat this chicken every day for now on.
Best place for chicken! Onion rings & mac & cheese are on point too!
We came to Speck's as kids - my Dad loved it. I bring my daughter now and it's still the best place for chicken and cheeseburgers. I love that it's still the same inside from when we were kids. Thanks for making great food!!!

A family favorite! Not only is the chicken great, they have terrific cheeseburgers, hot dogs and steak sandwiches! The staff is very friendly and accommodating. A true treasure!

By far, this is the best chicken I've had in a long time. The young staff are great at what they do, and the place just feels familiar. Not many places like Specks are left, so cherish it.

But i would recommend for something quick over Royal farms but you can find better chicken for sure.
I drive 20 miles from Philly to try the Broaster chicken and thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s worth the road trip. The chicken is super flavorful and tender. Note it is fried chicken, albeit in a special way. So it’s a little greasier than broasted chicken which is broiled / roasted.
And I suspect Speak’s is great for family dinners with kids. There’s a variety of other items on the menu and they’re all fairly priced. And if they’ve half as tasty as the chicken even picky eaters should be happy.
This place is like going back in time. Great broasted chicken and cheesesteaks!
I love specks, I used to go there a lot in the early '80s until the mid 1990s. It is the best chicken and coleslaw french fries place around. I no longer live near there but when I do stop in the area I do get a piece of that chicken and coleslaw.
