Review La Perla Tapatia - Collierville

I just love this place and the staff is amazing, the always make us feel great and the food is very good, like mom’s food.

Good service and good food, not much else to say. They are able to provide quality service even when they are super busy, is a small place but with better food and service compared to other bigger Mexican restaurants.

We celebrated our sons birthday here tonight and had such a great time! The food and service was amazing!! The food and drinks here are always so good! We always get the molcajete mexicano. Highly recommend this if you love trying different meats cooked in true mexican fashion. The chorizo quesadilla that comes with it is so so so good! Thank you all for a wonderful birthday celebration!

Food was delicious and service was outstanding. Very large portions. Servers were very friendly and attentive. Restaurant was very clean.

We ordered shrimp fajitas and the taste as well as portion size was good. The chicken in the chicken quesadilla from the kid's menu wasn't properly cooked though and tasted rubbery. They were least apologetic about it. Every item on our order took at least 15 mins to arrive at the table, including an extra side of rice. We later realized they are family owned and were having lunch themselves on the next table. That can't be an excuse for the slow service though. Hope it gets better in the future !

It all started Saturday night when my dad made the statement that La Perla Tapatia was the best Mexican place in Collierville. My mom, Sarah and I had not eaten there or we didn't remember it being anything special if we had. This time my dad was absolutely right! I had a margarita on the rocks. It was delicious. Not too sugary and not too heavy on the mix. For my meal, I had a Tapatia Fajita. It had all the meats you want, tons of them and they were all delicious. Steak, chicken, shrimp, and chorizo pilled high on a skillet. The only negative was the guac was a bit salty. After our meal, I am convinced that La Perla Tapatia is the best Mexican place in Collierville.

The food is always great. And the people who run the restaurant are very nice.

La Perla Tapatia is the best Mexican restaurant in all of Memphis, hands down. These people writing bad reviews wouldn't know good, traditional Mexican food if it slapped him in the face.

Hands down best Mexican food in Collierville. I moved here from Amarillo, Tx and have spent a lot of time in South Texas, so satisfying Mexican food is hard to come by in the Memphis region. This restaurant is the closest to authentic Mexican cuisine yet found in the realm of suburbia, with excellent fajitas (I recommend the potato fajita), enchiladas, tacos, burritos, and much more. This is why the down-to-earth, home-y La Perla Tapatia receives a 4.0 in my book. Well done, muchachos.

The worst Mexican food. Have been going here for a few years and my most recent experience has made me hate the place. The worst service I have ever experienced in the area. Am 22 years old and got denied with my id and had to leave. The waiters were laughing and being asses. They just lost a customer. Used to have decent food, now the chicken is gummy and disgusting. Cheese dip is half water. I would recommend el mezcal or la hacienda over this disgusting place. Save your money. <br/>

This place has absolutely zero class, on top of the rodents running around the building I wouldn't recommend a visit to anyone. The waiters are sketchy and untrustworthy.

Absolutely Fabulous...........Service, Food and Family. We tried La Perla Tapatia today for lunch after finding it online at lehighvalleyonline and were thrilled. Marianne was wonderful and went through the menu with us one item at a time explaining in detail not only what each item was comprised of but also how it was prepared. After bringing us samples of their home made waters we opted for the Rice Water as it was so refreshingly tasty and cold. <br/>We spoke for a while and were thrilled to discover all food was prepared fresh in a family style kitchen where all members of the staff were indeed family.<br/>While eating our choices of Chicken Empanada to start we decided on a recommended Pork Flauta (not on the menu) and Tacos (Adoba, Barbacoa and Al Pastor). All were served hot and fresh with a nice authentic display on the plate. Portions were a nice surprise for the price, large and filling. <br/>To my surprise the chef came out whom we met briefly and the turned the TV channel over to European Soccer (being Irish I was thrilled as he had heard me ask about soccer games being it is a Mexican establishment). We discovered that the do show the soccer games and we could request a channel change to wee whatever game was being shown at the time.<br/>Definitely will become a regular for us and a place to bring the children to watch BIG soccer games away from a bar type atmosphere.<br/><br/>Thank you Marianne and family for a wonderful experience and see you all again soon,<br/><br/>M & J

Don't Go. I went during lunch on a snow day. They were busy but there is no excuse for bad service and bad food. The servers were not friendly, were very short with us when asking what we wanted to order, and could not get them to return to the table. The salsa tasted like tomato puree. I ordered a beef burrito and was given a steamed tortilla filled with bland ground beef and covered with a thin tomato sauce. Ugh! They never came back to our table to ask if we needed any refills, etc. When we were ready to go, I had to stand up to get them to stop at our table to bring our check. This is after they had passed by us several times and not once did they look at us. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Horrible food!. Horrible service! Food was cold and the taste was bland! There are other places that are much better. We would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. We will not be back.

Cold food and terrible service. After waiting 30 minutes for our food..... Our food arrived cold! The cheese enchilada felt like it was right of the fridge. The cheese inside was hard and cold to the touch. My children's cheese quesadillas were not edible! The cheese was not even melted on the inside. How can you mess up cheese quesadillas???!!! I used to love this place but never again.

Our first visit tonight and just Ok. Will not go back. There are many better options for Mexican food in our area.

Really great food! I had the shrimp fajitas and they were cooked perfectly. The salsa was also freshly prepared and just the right amount if heat and flavor.

Food was good. Frozen margarita was fantastic! If you get the large one, make sure you have a driver.

Disappointment. Disappointed at the owner Tonight. I had placed a regular to go order and went to pick it up then happen to think i need another cheese dip so I asked for the chips that went with it so the waiter went to get the other bag and the owner said I took your order you only order one I said I have 2 transactions for one more. Point being It made me feel as if I were taking something That I had already paid for.<br/>I am at this place one a week and have been for over a year and a half. If you think a bag of chips will break you then I don't need to come back to your establishment. Really!!!!!<br/><br/>when you make a loyal customer feel that bad there is something wrong.. Food maybe good, but I'll move on down the road where something that petty will not effect your food cost. <br/><br/>very disappointed I work next door btw

Love this place.. Being from San Diego then Denver, finding decent Mexican was a challenge. It you like good hot salsa bypass the table weak stuff and order a side of their tomatillo salsa it's awesome!

Zero spices were given that day...poor food accentuated by poor service.

Best Mexican In Collierville. Great service, always busy. Food is good, some dishes are great. Worst I have had is average. The Chipolta Shrimp is outstanding. Not the place to go if you are wanting a quite dinner. Seating is tight.

This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant. The fajitas are very tasty. The servers are friendly and attentive. The prices are very fair. The portions are generous. The food is served hot and it's delicious.

Good Food/Guacamole Disappointed. Ate here last week for lunch. The fajitas were good. Chips and salsa were good. Guacamole seemed to be just smashed avocado...no extra stuff I expect in guacamole. That was a little disappointing. Otherwise good just wont order the Guacamole for $6 next time.

I am a mexican food snob and i had the Tapatia quesadillas and refried beans. Wonderful food & service. Enough said. I will definitely return.

Why is it so popular??. My boyfriend and I are big tex-mex fans. We eat at all the local mexican restaurants in Germantown and Collierville. I'd read how good this place was, and so tonight we decided to try it out. A waiter came and took our drinks quickly, and we were quickly brought chips and salsa. And that was where the service stopped.The cheese dip was bland. We had to flag someone down to get refills on drinks twice. We had to flag someone down for more chips. We had to literally wander the restaurant to find our waiter to bring us the check after 15 minutes of being done with dinner. I had nachos. They were just OK at best. The boyfriend had carne asada, and it looked terrible. He said it was like rubber on a plate. He could barely eat it. I think we'll just stick with La Hacienda in Germantown.

LOVE IT!. La Perla Tapatia is my husand and my's favorite Mexican place in Collierville. They staff is great and the food is awesome. We have taken friends and family there for a great time. Also, on weeknights they have drink specials that make this place even less expensive!!!

Molchajete...yummm!. You must try the "Lava Bowl" or Molchajete. It is a version of fajita (different spices). Comes with Shrimp, Beef & Chicken and there is enough for two people. Gotta have one every week!

Amazing!!! "The Tap" has ruined it for other Mex restaurants. The cheese dip, chips, salsa, and Tacos al Carbon are the best! Also, the owners rock!

This place is one reason why I miss working in Collierville. My brother and I would meet up here weekly. Better come early for lunch, though, because everyone else in town does the same thing! Awesome prices for above the norm Mexican.

Mixed Feelings. La Perla is yet another one of those places where I like everything but the food itself. In fact, all but that is just superb. In that regard, I still recommend others give it a try even though I voted that I don't like it.

They have a great Queso with Chorizo, if you like onions and peppers it does add nice flavor and the extra heat brings out more flavor. Try the Shrimp Enchiladas but ask for the light cream sauce, they occasionally make it with a tomato sauce with does not suit the shrimp or me.

Best Mexican Food in Collierville!. First things first, its technically a Guatemalan eatery, but that's truly irrelevant. This restaurant is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. The food is amazing tasting, pretty cheap, and the service is really quick and polite! I highly recommend this place over El Porton, Su Casa, or La Hacienda. La Perla is by far the superior eatery.

In Love!. I went here for dinner and fell in love.This is by far the best mexican resturant I have been to. Everything was good,the only thing I would do different though is not order the cheese dip(which was really good)because I ate so much of it I couldn't eat my whole meal(which was EVEN better!)

I wanted 1 spinach enchilada (which is not on the menu). The server accommodated my request with a smile and, "no problem". When asked if we wanted a small or big draft beer I got the big. Expect a pitcher! Very reasonable prices.

Good chow. Reasonably priced, well prepared, and courteously delivered Tex/Mex cuisine.

Best Mexican In Collierville. We've eaten at La Perla Tapatia and think it's the best Mexican in Collierville. Not only is the food excellent, but the service is quit good and the food comes out quick as well.<br/><br/>My personal favorite is the Tacos al Carbon; but I can also recommend the Chimichanga, or any of Fajita dishes. I have to say though, I've never had something I thought was bad. <br/><br/>If you stop by, make sure to check out the special board by the door for tasty dishes with extra value. On your way out say Hi to Chester in the fishbowl by the register.
