Reviews House Of Yakitori

The oriental decor and the ambiance of this restaurant were very intriguing for me. There is no charge for imagination in this eatery. It can be the House of Yakitori, made feel of a house of somebody, or a gallery that serves food. The owners are very nice and sincere people. I had the yakitori with the shrimp combo. Between the dynamic of grilled chicken (literally what yakitori means), fried shrimps and onion rings, cold salad, steamed rice, and flavorful sauces. I don't know what else is more confusing yet pleasing to my palate. Although true Japanese cuisine requires precision and depth in culinary skills, for lunch, this restaurant is worth the bang of your buck!

Haven’t been here in 30 years, nothing about this place had changed, except their location? I still remember the 80s Japanese posters and drawing of cartoon chickens on their walls.🤔 I got the Yakitori and Gyoza Linch special. I think I was the first one there and while I ate my food the restaurant quickly filled up with customers. Still as yummy as I remember and the prices aren’t bad either yet somehow their tempura onion rings have changed size?!😜🍱✌🏻

I went in around 3, had absolutely zero wait. They made it SO FAST and the food was wonderful. I haven't had yakitori in a long time and totally missed this flavor. So worth going! I'll be going back another time for something else because they have so much on their menu. Everyone there was super kind as well, and I'm happy to hear they survived covid. It seems like they've built a strong community that supports them so I'm excited to add my name to that list.

Every time I visit home from Illinois I must eat at a Yakitori. It is delicious every time! This is the original restaurant I used to eat at as a kid until they moved to this location. As an adult I followed them to this location and now can only eat there when I visit. I miss it. My heart literally glows when I pull up at this spot. I usually get the seafood and sides of hen skewers. I’m glad they survived COVID shut down season 💓!

The food here is beyond amazing; once we got our order, the aroma filled the room, and I couldn't wait to dig in. Yakitori is also a small business that works hard for its customers, and it is definitely worth trying out, and most likely becoming a regular customer. Yakitori is a special place, and I would have given it 100/5 stars if I could.

Went there yesterday with my granddad, place was fire and the food was very good, like I told them better than Panda. The people working there were also very chill and just good vibes all around.

I love this place!!! Everything I have had is always GREAT. Okay, so I have only had yakitori, rice, egg rolls and salad, but that is only because it is so good, I only want that.

A very casual lunch place. This location offers the same menu as the one down south. The food is very good and is reasonably priced. It is clear that this location (off of Austin Bluffs and Meadowland) has been struggling due to the raggedy ceiling and overall interior. They have a really nice staff who are friendly and accommodating. I wish them a lot of good luck and hope their restaurant will thrive again!

I believe the onion ring is a dish that can transcend borders, language, and culture. It is but one of many manifestations of the cosmopolis of markets and exchange that tie the world together. The circular nature of the onion ring may even be thought of as representing the inherent ties between and among all men and women on this earth. The onion rings from the House of Yakitori encapsulate the culinary ties that bind us together, providing a Japanese twist on a Western classic. The presentation and plating of these onion rings is ornate and modern, while simultaneously evoking a sense of fond comfort. Rather than the traditional heap, they are delicately balanced across the long plate, giving me pause before diving in, lest I collapse the intricacy before me. A loose coating of Panko breading covers the large and thick cut onions, resembling a growth of some mysterious substance across the surface of the onion rings. This perception is magnified by the inconsistent coating, with the white onions on high display. Despite the mess, there's something charming about the Panko breading, and they make the onion rings seem light and airy. The overwhelming flavor of these onion rings is simply onion. Between the large and thick cut of the onions themselves, coupled with the light and patchy coating, really lets the flavor of the onion shine. These were lightly fried just long enough to unleash the delicious juices of the onion. The breading, however, failed to provide any substantial taste. The overwhelming taste of these onion rings was nothing more, or less, than onions and grease. The accompanying dipping sauce, presumably some sort of ranch, was creamy and well seasoned, which did further develop some flavors in the onion. The delicate onion rings were light, and had a tendency to crumble if exposed to too much pressure. I blame this primarily on the scarce breading, which did not cover the whole of the rings, and what was there wasn't on all that tight. I've written voluminously in the past on the dread of "slippage", wherein the onions fall out of the batter and the parts of the onion ring separate. This is the first time I've ever encountered the opposite, where bites often led to the breading falling off, with only the onion remaining. I've dubbed this problem "shedding", and these Panko rings fall prey to this new dilemma routinely. As mentioned above, the thick onions that make up the core of the onion ring make for a solid bite. They are thick without being underdone, and juicy without being overcooked. The Panko breading, where present, provides a solid crunch, with a surprisingly good consistency. $2.65 buys a medium sized plate of surprisingly large onion rings, which more than sufficed as a shared appetizer for me and my girlfriend before our Yakitori. I would have liked a bit more breading to truly make these onion rings, rather than fried onions with a light Panko coating.

Decent prices for yakitori. We had take out combination meals. Combo #18. 3 yakitori and 2 egg rolls. Not very impressed with the coleslaw but the egg rolls were excellent Japanese style.

This is a lovely family owned place, they treated us with kindness and were extremely polite. The food was absolutely excellent. Dine in and try the miso. Will eat here again.
