I freakin love this place! I keep wanting to try new sandwiches but i always stick to the same few. I'm borderline addicted to the chicken melt/add bacon and tomato. A+!

Go Cocks!. Wonderful staff that works feet away from you in open kitchen. The Monroe is my absolute #1 favorite sandwich in Columbia, although several others are excellent as well. A little pricy for what you get though as a la carte. tables are tight at lunchtime, get there early or late. Potato soup is best I've had anywhere.

Great Sandwhiches. My boyfriend and I eat lunch here every Saturday. Christy and her crew do an amazing job. We've tried about half the menu at this point and have never been disappointed. However, our favorites (as the entire staff knows) are the Edisto, the Duncan, and the tuna melt. Really good stuff!

All my sandwiches have been great. I've eaten here multiple times as have my wife and kids and every sandwich we've had has been great. The place is clean, parking around back is adequate, and there isn't much competition in the neighborhood if you want a good sandwich. No sandwich in particular stands out, they were all pretty good.

The Best Sandwich Shop in Columbia!. I have been a loyal 5th Avenue Deli patron since they opened several years ago. It is such a well-kept secret, and selfishly, I want to keep it that way! However, I felt the need to let everyone know what a great job these folks do-- if you have not been there before, it's time to visit!
The sandwiches on their menu are creative and original- not your typical sub shop kind of place. Their menu is large and even the pickiest of diners will be pleased!
My favorite sandwiches are the Turkey Pesto (turkey, swiss and pesto mayo pressed on ciabatta), the Ray Tanner (turkey, cranberry mayo, swiss, and bacon, served either cold on Wheat with lettuce and tomato, or hot pressed on ciabatta), and the South Walker (Ham, Cheddar, Chipotle Garlic Mayo, Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, and Purple Onion, pressed on ciabatta). I usually rotate between those three each time I go, but have ventured out and tried an assortment of other sandwiches on the menu, which are all delicious as well!
Any time I take someone with me who has never been to 5th Avenue Deli before, they are absolutely floored, and then they become addicted, like myself!
The only gripe I have about 5th Avenue is that on rare occasions, the service can be a tad slow if they are really busy. However, it is worth the wait!

The best sandwich I have ever had - bar none! You know you have found a place that takes pride in their deli creations when you see contents condiments like garlic cayenne and cranberry mayos. Nestled between Rosewood and Shandon, this shop is a well kept secret. I am not sure if it is because of its location, or with limited seating, the regulars just prefer to not spread the word. And there are regulars. I think I would prefer everyone share in what are truly excellent creations and force the owners to expand. While I have never had a bad sandwich at this restaurant, The Joe is worth writing home for. Made from turkey, slaw, jalapeño, tomatoes, provolone and Dijon mustard and pressed on a Panini; this sandwich rocks. And if you truly like flavorful potato salad, add that as a side. Other sandwiches include The Gamecock, The Duncan, The Edisto and The Ray Tanner (as you might have guessed, the workers have an affinity for Carolina baseball). Happy eating!

We’re new to Columbia and this was our first of many trips to 5th Avenue Deli. Holy cow, it was awesome! So many sandwiches and salads from which to choose. I had The Maple Street roast beef with egg salad (sounds weird but amazing) and she had the 3 salad sampler (egg, chicken and fruit salads). She’ll judge a new restaurant based on their chicken salad and 5th Avenue Deli past her litmus test. So good! Friendly staff who all wore face shields, social distancing the tables. Just a wonderful first experience. We’ll definitely return!

We eat here every time we are in Columbia. The chicken salad sandwich is one of the best that I have had anywhere. The line moves quick and you never wait long for your food. Their seasonal summer pasta salad is also pretty amazing. Definitely give it a try if they have it on your visit!

I love eating here! Locally owned and they treat every customer like they matter! Always a pleasurable experience throughout my whole lunch! They are always smiling and willing to help you with anything you need. Best place I have ever been to for lunch if I want great food and excellent service from some top notch people! I look forward to walking in everytime I am close enough to grab a bite there.

A favorite lunch spot. Nice, friendly staff. Large diversified selection of sandwiches and salads. Once the weather cools down, handmade soups are available - try the potato! Have taken friends and family there and all have enjoyed the experience.

Glad I checked this place out. Very fresh and delicious sandwich. Nothing pretentious about it - just good food expertly prepared when you order. I have some dietery issues with onions and peppers, so was delighted they had a pasta salad without. This was praised back at the office. We'll be back.
