If you’d like to eat quick and inexpensive food, this is not the place you should go to. However, If you’d like to eat and enjoy delicious food slowly and spend time talking with people important to you, this is the best place to go. The service is very slow but the food is really good. You should make a reservation.
Fantastic Japanese food. NOT a sushi bar (though they typically have some offerings). Service is slow, by design, so expect dinner to take 2 hours or so. Relax, and enjoy it. The younger server is definitely better, but understand the older lady isn't angry, just a bit off-putting. Really though, the food is the highlight. Lots of dishes you can't get anywhere else in town.
4-starts since they share HVAC space with a smoke shop... ugh. Not sure there is much they can do about it through.
Fine authentic Japanese food. First, I must admit that previous reviewers are completely right. Their service is very slow, because they only have 2-3 servers and they wouldn't cook or make any food until you order. However, if you can accept the slow service, the Japanese food they have is the best and most authentic style I've ever seen. Fine, fresh and rare ingredients, and creative menu. They have everyday specials design by chefs. That's why their price is higher than other Japanese restaurants in Columbus
Ok, I'm sorry I'm not posting pictures, but I can't get to them right now. This place is wonderful for people who want authentic Japanese food. Anthony Bourdain said the same thing. How is this place in Ohio?! It's one of the best restaurants in Columbus. BUT it is not cheap and it is not a sushi place. The free sushi rolls they have are very simple and very high quality fish (they usually have 2 or 3 single fish options). I'm so disappointed that Columbus people are rating this spot so low. It's better than most in Columbus but it's important to know it's Japanese and very similar to tapas in the way you'd order, a few little dishes. They do have really good brothy soup dishes. They also have a call ahead chef's special that is a piece of art and different every time but it's straight class! Several courses. The chef just showed off. I think it's around $80. Call ahead only.
This was a unique surprise. I went here for a friend's graduation party. We had a private dining room with the traditional Japanese in ground table. Although the menu was a bit confusing, the hostess gladly walked us through it. We had a great assortment of items to share and the dinner was great. I had the Nabeyaki Udon. Later we figured out that it was all prepared and cooked by one chef. Highly recommend.
The very best in town.
If you have not tried you really need to.
The sampler menu is absolutely unique and the level of genius that is continuously show in the amazing food I have never seen equal or even close.
Yes they have the Norman noodle dishrs, but the deep fried lotus root to the miso tuna dishes to any number of absolutely stunning combinations will delight you interest and taste buds.
The menu only has a few sushi items but they are definately worth a try.
Also take a look at the kitchen, you can see it from the bar. Each dish is handmade and quite inspiring.
I went here five years ago by myself on a whim and was knocked out of my socks. Now since the have been on "Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations" they have only changed one thing. They are packed....lol.
If you want to have dinner do not go here. But if you want a dinning experience this is the place.
The food was out of this world. And totally worth the 2 hour dinning experience and the $160.00 price tag for 2.
If you won't to treat yourself.....wow your woman....or just be the cool person in Columbus, YOU HAVE TO GO HERE!!!!!

Amazing! So happy to have you in Columbus! Not a newborn setting so don't be mad just get a sitter, not every place is newborn friendly! Get it Togo so the rest of us can enjoy our dinner, Respect Others! You may have the best Japanese Style Cuisine just short of Tokyo! Thank you Chef Mike! A great experience!!
Cheers!!!
Incredible Dining Experience! The first time I went there was in December last year and we ordered 9 small plates a la carte, and every dish, except the mackerel, was perfect (especially the Toro, fried oysters, and mushrooms). It's not that the mackerel wasn't good, but I've had better. The second time I went there was a few days ago for an Omakase meal, which was 11 (small dish) courses. The Omakase was pricey ($250 per person including gratuity), but so worth it, especially the Wagyu beef, duck fish, and the fresh water shrimp. The Omakase was not only the best Japanese meal that I've eaten, but probably one of my best meals ever.
This is not a sushi restaurant. It's Japanese but you want find traditional rolls and such. The food was good. I sat at the bar and enjoyed watching the two chefs cooked. I didn't realize they cook with chopsticks. I found that interesting.
Always authentic, with a high focus toward pure flavors and excellent precision. I have never had a bad meal here. I have never had bad service here. One of my absolute favorite restaurants in Columbus.

Most authentic Japanese food you will have in the states. Family owned and operated
The menu, service and atmosphere do not disappoint. I just wish I did not have to drive all the way to Dublin for such incredible Japanese fare but such is the case in the Greater Columbus area.
The service is very slow, but the food is really good. This is a REAL Japanese restaurant, not a super dragon spicy mayo rainbow roll restaurant.
Great sushi place!! Fresh fish amazing food. Just let you guys know very expensive. But worth it!!!
Best restaurant in columbus. If you don't like it go to tais Asian bistro instead
