Four days before our wonderful meal at O, I had the good fortune to attend a cooking class put on by O’s owner Masterchef O’Neil. The class was fun and informative, giving me a preview of our upcoming meal. We learned the art of making pasta and a lobster compote to stuff our tortellini pasta shells with, along with other mouth-watering dishes.
Then on Wednesday night, along with four of our best friends we all had a memorable meal prepared by Chef O’Neil and his excellent staff. Not only was the cuisine some of the best we’ve ever tasted, the presentation of the plates was like visiting an art gallery. The Chef’s dishes were beautiful to view and even better to eat. Everything is made fresh, cooked fresh and served in a timely manner but this level of preparation takes a little longer so a little patience is needed. Everyone had a wonderful meal, the wine was excellent and the cocktails were deliciously potent. Of course no meal is complete without dessert. Three of us had rich and delicious chocolate lava cake, another had cheese cake, and another a limoncello gelatin that was fantastic.
Of course excellence comes with a price, our dinners with alcohol were roughly $100+ per couple but well worth every penny and really not much more than some of our restaurants in Coos Bay or North Bend. Despite rumors the serving portions were just right which along with our appetizers and salads filled us perfectly. Two of the ladies even had a small portion to take home.
Restaurant O is a beautiful place to behold. The old Benetti’s has been updated very stylishly. The waitstaff were pleasant, informative and attentive to our needs. Chef O’Neil and Rica even came to our table to greet us as they did with many other diners. We could not have had a better evening out anywhere in the state of Oregon. Our next adventure will be one of the special 5 to 9 course meals prepared exclusively by Chef O’Neil upstairs.
When Benetti’s Restaurant closed, Restaurant O had some big shoes to fill. It did not disappoint. My wife and I had dinner there last night, and it was fantastic. For those of you who have never experienced a fine dining restaurant the likes of which you’d find in New York, Paris or London, here is your chance. Below are some highlights.
1. The staff were attentive, knew the menu, and were both warm and professional.
2. We had wine, an appetizer, main course, and dessert. The cost was on par with the higher-end restaurants in Coos Bay, North Bend and Bandon. Very reasonable.
3. This is fine dining and not a buffet. However, the portions sizes were good, and I took some food home.
4. The presentation was beautiful, on par with some of the best restaurants.
5. The menu was large with choices that would satisfy most pallets. Traditional to exotic.
6. The open kitchen and decor created a very upscale feeling to the experience.
While we will miss the great family dining style of Benetti’s, it is fantastic to have such a wonderful (and affordable) fine dining experience in Coos Bay. We are so fortunate that Chef O’Neill has brought his Michelin Star experience to Coos Bay.
I love the atmosphere... everything from the gorgeous remodel to the music.... the staff is friendly and always has great suggestions... the drinks are so much fun, always something new to try even for non-alcoholic drinks, .... and the food. Boy are we lucky to have a place here that dishes up plate after plate of amazing creations! They’re like art pieces - gorgeous presentation, colors and flavors like you won’t experience anywhere else on the Oregon Coast. Not just for special occasions, this is my go-to for every occasion big or small.

My husband and I came here for dinner tonight and had a wonderful experience.
The service was top notch to say the least. Our waitress knew the menu, was warm, and made us feel like part of the family.
We had a difficult time choosing what we wanted to order since everything sounded so appetizing. We decided on an appetizer of crab with avocado mousse. So fresh and flavorful, we enjoyed every bite.
For the main dishes we had the smoked beef with potatoes and root veggies, and the chicken breast with wild mushroom risotto. Both dishes were packed full of flavor and the portion sizes were perfect.
Dessert we shared the lemon torte with a shot of lemoncello and the trio of creme brulee.
The ambiance was classy but not stuffy. This was definitely a 5 star restaurant without the price tag. Can't wait to come back and explore the menu further.
My wife and I had dinner on Valentines there. Everything was superb!!!. We had the chefs cheese plate and tuna tartare for appetizers and both were phenomenal. I had the Chateaubriand for an entree. It comes served under a glass dome full of smoke adds a great smoky flavor in is it wonderful presentation. Best meal I've had in coos county. All of the drinks were perfect. The service was good perhaps a little slow is my only critique however I realize they are a new restaurant and it was a very busy night for them. We will be back there's a bunch of other stuff I wanted to have on the menu.
My husband and I had the best evening here and it far exceeded our expectations. We are so lucky to have Master Chef O'Neal in Coos Bay! The service was outstanding, from the friendly host, our fantastic and attentive waitress, and the chefs who introduced themselves and explained each dish to us. The food tasted exquisite and was plated beautifully with such care. I recommend ordering multiple items if you're really hungry and to truly appreciate the menu (or you can just fill up with the delicious breads that come with your meal). Do not expect a dark and private atmosphere; it is bright and lively with music and a beautiful open kitchen. We can't wait to go back!
It is so nice not to travel to a big city to experience fine dining! There is nothing like this...maybe Portland but this establishment, with its décor and atmosphere is top notch. Definitely high class! I have been a local here for a long time and indeed there were big shoes to fill that was Benettis before and they definitely showed some respect! Food was delicious and the staff was very knowledgeable and attentive.
Try going there and get the 6 or 9 course meal with the wine pairing and you will know what I am talking about. They are very attentive to your needs (gluten free) and know what to bring out based on your prior courses. I highly recommend this place and this is exactly what this town needs...class.
Chef O’Neil serves inspired plates with amazing execution. Everything is top notch the staff the food the ambiance. On par with any fine dining establishment. Highly recommend!
Excellent culinary experience. Presentation of food is exceptional, taste is superb. Great ambiance, loved every dish. One of the best restaurants we've ever tried around the world. In our neck of the woods. Simply WOW!
We’ve enjoyed Restaurant “O” on three occasions and found it to be an immediate plus for us.
We like the leisurely dinner pace and attention to detail
in presentation and an extraordinarily accommodating staff both at the dinning area and the bar.
Thank you for bringing your dinning concept to downtown. We love R-“O”
Its Friday and we’ll there at your Happy Hour too!

Dining at Restaurant O is an amazing treat! Every dish is well designed and tastes are fresh and astounding. Interesting new cocktails that are unique for Coos Bay. A must visit and definitely to repeat!
Had an amazing evening on Saturday. Had Fois Gras, Wagyu, Risotto, and an amazing panna cotta. Our party was very pleased with service, ambiance, and flavor. What a gem for our area. Highly recommended!!!
My two children (13 & 10) and I enjoyed the relaxed ambiance and superb cuisine! I had the foi gras chicken liver (appetizer) & pork belly with five spice jus as an entree (I tasted all our entrees and this was my fav)! Great service! We will defiantly be back!
This restaurant is truly a gem. Beautiful decor and we loved watching the bustle in the kitchen as we dined. The food was amazing and comparable to the best restaurants in Europe. Chef O'Neill's subtle fusions with Asian foods make the experience unique with easy on the wallet prices.
We ate here last night to celebrate our 40th anniversary - special night and Restaurant O came through. Had a wonderfully relaxing evening with Levi the man behind the bar taking care of us. The Shrimp, Avocado-yuzu Bruschetta was amazing, best I have ever had anywhere. Especially enjoyed the music and art as our backdrop! We'll be back soon!
What a gem of a place to eat! We will make the drive from Portland to Coos Bay and enjoy meals there when ever we can.
I arrived about 30 minutes early and was seated right away. The waitress was a busy person with all the incoming guests. The complimentary shooters and bread were a nice touch. I had the Ribeye steak with rainbow potatoes and a side salad. The food was cooked well and only took about 20 minutes. Both the potatoes and the steak were a bit short on seasoning but still delicious.
GO HERE NOW! My friends and I are road tripping from Denver, CO and Coos Bay was along the way. In Denver, I work at a fine dining restaurant with food and service to the same caliber at this place, and I am so blown away. The food was incredible! We are so floored with the presentations of every aspect. From the amuse buche, the drinks, the meals, and the desserts. They have such a small staff but all we interacted with were so gracious and warm, despite how busy they were. Nicole served us and she was so kind, very knowledgeable and sweet.
We are currently on travel, and travel non stop so we have eaten at many restaurants - From small towns to major cities. This restaurant was exceptional and such a gem to find on the coast of Oregon. Our prawn appetizer and French onion soup were exceptional. The warm foccacia bread with oil was light, fluffy, and flavorful. The main courses were delicious, complex and very fairly priced. They had an open kitchen we could look into and our kids loved watching the chefs preparing our food. Our waitress was amazing; fit to work in a top tier restaurant in NYC. She recommended plates for us, recommend drinks (which were also superb), and brought out toys and fun games for our kids to entertain themselves. Dessert was a treat and the perfect ending. We could not believe how unbelievably fair the pricing was, We have spent more at very low quality establishments. Please tip the staff knowing what a great deal you are getting here! My husband keeps talking about this place which means it has left a lasting impact and we hope this review motivates more visitors passing through to visit this place and tell others! Happy eating!
We had a wonderful food experience at Restaurant O! The pairings were spot on perfect.
We started with drinks and oysters lemon air. Different from what we are used to but marvelous.
The ribeye with the jasmine rice was the best I have ever had. The vegetables with it were still firm with a slight crispness without being under done. Usually I add salt to vegetables and a steak sauce to the meat, I added NOTHING!
My wife had the lobster risotto and I almost wish I had gotten it too. Both dishes were soooooo good! We actually had room for dessert. I had the chocolate mousse bar with coconut sorbet (made in house) and it had 3 fresh raspberries on top.....I hate raspberries with a passion that burns like 1000 suns....it was.....the best! The pairing of mousse with the raspberries was incredibly good.
My wife had the three creme broulee. Another masterpiece by the chef and his crew.
The waitresses and bartender were warm and friendly. We chatted with them throughout the dinner and had a great evening. Unbelievably good!
Prices in my opinion were reasonable but not cheap. You get more than you pay for at Restaurant O. Already planning on coming back to Coosbay and trying the 9 course pairing with the wine suggestions for anniversary next year.
Went here with my wife for our 6 year anniversary and we had a delightful time. I would like to give credit to the ladies at the Welcome Center in Coos Bay. They were the ones who let us know about Restaurant O. This place is a gem in Coos Bay! This is fine dining that is affordable. If this place was in Medford, price would easily be double.
I wanted an experience so I went with the 3 course meal. I got fried prawns, crispy pork belly, and the churros. The meal was good and filling, but the churros were incredible! I loved how they were not heavy. They were light and covered in lots of cinnamon and sugar. 3 hours later I was still craving those churros. They are number one in my book out of all the churros I've had! Way better than what Disney can make!
My wife got Lumpia for a starter, which is very popular in Indonesia, and she also got a pasta dish, and creme brulee. All 3 were good. The creme brulee comes in 3 small dishes (strawberry, original, and chocolate) all these flavors were really good!
All in all, this place is worth taking a visit to for dinner. I would like to see what they put on the 6 or 9 course meal designed by the chef. I think that would be a fun experience!
What a wonderful surprise in Coos Bay! An extensive menu with great variety and a good selection of wines by the glass. I had a delicious spot prawn and asparagus risotto and my wife had a delicious ginger salmon.
My experience tonight at Resturant O was nothing short of fantastic. The food was absolutely amazing, and the plating was immaculate. The tiramasu trio is to die for. My server Nicole was very sweet and attentive. Resturant O is the perfect place to really get an elevated dining experience in Coos Bay.
Really enjoyed the happy hour. The meatballs and pork belly were amazing. $7 lemon drop was very good as well. Nice setting and friendly service.
Update 5/8/23-
I went for dinner and it was awesome! The server Adria was especially awesome. She sang a special happy birthday to me and was so lovely the entire time. Thank you for the excellent service and meal!
Will definitely be going back! I enjoy when a good chef can make a palete sing and our chef was exceptional! High praise for chef Seville and our bartender, Alex. The food from start to finish had wonderful flavor, perfect seasoning and reflected passion for his craft. Every dish was vibrant and delivered its flavors in delicious layers that made you almost want stand and ask for more! My favorite dish of the evening would have to be the perfectly cooked risotto as well as the seared scallop. A special shout out to our server, Stephanie. Shes quick and engaging and knows her menu and genuinely makes the dining experience feel more like home. I encourage anyone to stop in and experience this restaurant for something truly meaningful and will definitely keep you going back!
This is our favorite restaurant in town! Chef O'Neill's food is so good and never disappoints!! The menu is expansive with unique choices. We also love going to their Happy Hour. We enjoy sitting in the bar. Alex is fun to talk to and makes awesome drinks.
My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful nine course wine pairing dinner at Restaurant O. The pairings were exquisite and very unique and creative. Not your typical wine pairing. The service and personal attention could not have been better. We were touring the west coast from our home in Charlotte, North Carolina, and we were pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant of this caliber in little of Coos Bay. We highly recommend it.
The chef here has a real eye for detail. The appearance of our plates resembled dishes I see in Chicago or NY. We ate here with extended family and everyone enjoyed their dishes. My scallops were perfectly cooked, but I have tasted better. Perhaps just a bad batch. Overall, definitely worth visiting if you are in Coos Bay, Oregon
I seem to be making Restaurant O my second home. In my past life I had a great job in the city with lots of wonderful restaurants. If Restaurant O was dropped right in the middle of them, I'd pick it every time. The food is amazing with home made pasta, fabulous risotto, and perfect seasoning. I'm working my way through the menu. The staff is wonderful, the service is great,
the prices are surprisingly reasonable and the restaurant has another special touch. There are two screens where you can watch Michelin Chef O'Neill's hands at work, actually preparing the food. His delicate touch looks almost choreographed. It's fun to watch!
The food was so good tonight. I got the parmesan risotto w chicken and O it was divine. The salmon and spicy gazpacho was such a treat as well! Delightful ambience and a wonderful server in Adria! She was so helpful with menu options and specials. She was funny and thoughtful and we had a lovely dining experience! We were here last year during the holidays. This being our 2nd year I see a tradition on the horizon! Thanks Restaurant O!
IMPECCABLE.
From the moment we walked in I felt this was going to be a great evening. The atmosphere is beautiful and the aromas from the food amazing.
We were greeted immediately by the host with an awesome personality.
We then met Stephanie, our Server. We clicked with her instantly. Great smile, even better knowledge of the menu. Her suggestions were on point.
The drinks came and were fantastic. We ordered an appetizer, dinner and dessert. I can’t even put into words how perfect every sauce, texture and bite was.
This is definitely my new FAVORITE restaurant. My friend and I have vowed to visit at least once a month for girls night. I’m pretty sure it will be more often.
A shout out to Chef Seville (sp?) for coming to our table to introduce himself. He was so humble and gracious.
I could go on and on.
How fortunate we are to have a restaurant of this caliber in our little town on the Coast.
My complements to all of you for such a memorable experience.
Sincerely~
Mindi Markle
We went here for our 11 year anniversary. The filet mignon with crab meat and goose fat was the best food I have ever eaten! The clams in the cream sauce was the second. Great prices and an enjoyable atmosphere.
I have never had the pleasure of enjoying a nine course tasting before. I'm still beaming with food happiness. Everything about last night felt like a dream. Our server, Rhonda, was so attentive and sweet. The food was made special just for us! I was the only vegan out of our group and masterchef was extremely accommodating. He created dishes special just for us that weren't on the regular menu. We were there for four hours, eating, laughing and enjoying the atmosphere and didn't even realize so much time had passed. Their wine pairings were spot on! I left with a full belly and a full heart last night.
LOVED our meal at this restaurant! From the complimentary bread, to the surprise between-course appetizer, to entrees and dessert, the experiences was wonderful. The flavors were complex and unusual, which I always appreciate. The server did her job well and we had a fantastic meal!
