We found it on urbanspoon and it is a very cool spot. We sat at the bar and really enjoyed talking to the friendly bartenders and people next to us. The hip chips were a great appetizer. I had the wedge salad which was great. The 50/50 sandwich was good but very salty:( The chicken and waffles were definitely the best thing we ordered. If you have never had chicken and waffles this is the place to try it!
My new best Coppell dinner spot. I have been going to J. Macklin's for a few months now... The food has been awesome each time, but if I had to pick one of my new favorites, it would be the brisket nachos. GREAT taste and an excellent choice. The staff has been awesome countless times and I highly recommend you try it!!! Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Manager Stephanie always takes time to stop by my table to say hello and ask if I need anything. Best restaurant in Coppell.
FAB Service and Food. J. Macklin's has been a favorite of my entire family since it opened. (We eat there at least once a week.) Last Friday night, I met friends with their daughters there--we had 16 in all. The kicker: Only 11 were there at the start. We all ordered and received our (DELICIOUS) food quickly. As a couple more joined, our waiter took their orders, expedited them and, and delivered their food very quickly. It was amazing to see the last five guests trickle in and all get their food in such a timely manner. My friends (all of whom had never been there before) will all be back!

Reviewed!. Atmosphere - Contemporary bistro with a splash of sports bar rounds out the J Macklin's experience. Dining room has good spacing all about, so a jammed in feeling should not overtake you, even with a full house. Decor is a stylish usage of modern lines and shapes which is quite pleasing to the eye. The splash hails from several televisions hung about the inside dining area, coupled with the somewhat loud, almost intrusive music playing. 9 out of 10.
Service - The timeliness and attention of the servers varies randomly from incredible, to iffy at best. Order accuracy also comes into question, but not so much or in such a major way as to demean the dining experience (Please remember that the waitstaff has no control over what the kitchen does, and minor details get lost in the fray sometimes). The overall demeanor is pleasant, courteous, and helpful throughout the meal. 7.5 out of 10.
Food - The menu is short and concise, offering an assortment of sandwiches, dinner salads, and entrees to try. Food quality is superb in every respect. Basil mayonnaise that has a strong basil taste, hand made hip potato chips have a very nice kick paired with the chili spiked ketchup. Great care was put into the food coming out of their kitchen, and it shows. 10 out of 10.
Value - Drinks add up quickly, but that doesn't change no matter where you are. The meals are fairly inexpensive, given how complete they are. Portions are filling, but stop before they reach grotesque amounts. All in all, it comes out to what you'd spend at Chili's or Friday's, sans the questionable food. 9.5 out of 10.
Overall - If you can get over the sometimes spacey waitstaff, and loud music, then J Macklin's will offer you an affordable, high quality meal along with another restaurant to frequent. 8.5 out of 10.
Great restaurant. My boyfriend and I have been to J. Macklins a couple of times now, and we have never had a bad experience. The food tastes wonderful, the waitstaff is friendly and the environment is very nice without being stuffy.
This place is great!. We drive from Denton area to eat here. The food is wonderful, the staff is great. I can not understand the few negative reviews on this site, J Macklin's Grill is a great dining experience. It is one of our favorite places to eat.
Great. We dine here almost once a week -- and do so because we really enjoy the atmosphere and the food. Some of our favorites: hummus, all their salads, the flatbread appetizer, the burgers (and great fries), the fish sandwich, an awesome grilled cheese (my HS daughter's favorite). Last week, I tried the fish and chips. Honestly, they are the best I've had.
Great food, all 6 in our party loved what they ordered. I had the chicken salad sandwich, fantastic. Can't wait to go back and try something else.
Everything I gave had has been outstanding. From fish to burgers to salads it has something for everyone and everyone will be pleased.

J. Macklins's is a one of a kind restaurant with great food, great service, and a lively atmosphere. It has an eclectic chef-inspired menu with lots to choose from. From their Brisket Tacos, to the Mahi Mahi sandwich, whatever you choose you won't be dissapointed. It's a place to have a quiet evening, or bring the kids after a soccer game, it has it all. I will definately be re-visiting this diamond-in-the-rough again!
I loved this resturante. Every one inside was having fun. The food was good. The environment was good. It was just a great experience. I would suggest this resurante to anyone.

Great experience. Me and 3 friends came last Saturday night;10/10/09. We hadn't seen each other in a long time. I ordered a happy hour import beer; I didn't like it. the waiter said okay told her manager Andy and we got what we wanted. The manager Andy came by to check us, he suggested hippy chips and state chicken. It was great! We ate it all up. Then we had chicken pasta, soup and salad, greek salad, chicken salad. All so good! Thanks, great service, great food, lots of time to chat with my friends. We'll be back with friends!

Love this place! There are so many good menu items that it's hard to choose. Hubs had the lobster tacos & I had the braised short ribs.. both were delicious! We sat at the bar, where Allison gave us the best service! She is so cute & has a friendly smile &.. most importantly.. our glasses were never empty.. she stayed pretty busy, too! Can't wait to go back so we can try some other things...

I felt really impressed with the quality of service. The speed in which service not only keeps up but also evolved was great. The hosts and staff are friendly and well balanced. And the chef Is well versed in quality food. I honestly need to rethink the standards of which I have for my starring system. If I could I would give 10 stars because wow. Just wow. Twice as great as anywhere I have ever eaten. Even better than Aspin Creek and Salt Grass in the area.

Today was my first time there. The French dip was the best I’ve had. The bread and meet melted in my mouth. The fries crisp, not too salty. The service was great. It’s clean, safe. I’ll definitely go back.
Double date with friends during a Saturday night on the patio. PERFECT June evening. The patio and parking lot was very clean. The spinach/artichoke appetizer was GREAT for sharing. The beer was COLD. The server kept our water glasses FULL. The fish and chips was DELICIOUS. We would have been more comfortable if the all of the "water mist" fans had been working. We had some fun LIVE MUSIC too keep us entertained. FUN for sure.
J Macs is always a great evening! They have a great selection on their menu. I love the fish and chips and the grilled cheese is probably my favorite thing on their menu. I love the tomato dipping sauce! The service is always great, and you can usually find a seat! I will be coming back for years to come. Totally recommend it!
Very well organised and accessible restaurant. They provide large meals and for economical prices. We liked the food very much and the staff members were super attentive and explanatory. I recommend this place.
