Reviews El Paso Mexican And Spanish Restaurant

Cozy Mexican-Spanish restaurant with a varied menu. We visited El Paso Restaurant on Saturday, February 14, 2015 for lunch. The first thing you'll notice is that El Paso seems narrow, but there is nonetheless room for two rows of tables and one row of booths.

The second thing you'll notice is the varied menu. At lunchtime there was a lunch menu and a regular menu with a small menu of "special items" attached in the center. You'll find a great variety of Mexican and Spanish items within.

While most or all of the clientele was non-Hispanic while we were there, El Paso does offer horchata and several flavors of Jarritos Mexican soda. This places El Paso right at the boundary between what I call "Mexican-American" and "real Mexican". I love horchata, so that's one point in their favor. My friend was able to get cafe con leche.

My friend favors pork over beef, so she was pleased to find pork fajitas, which she enjoyed (if you like fajitas you'll have plenty of choices).

I wanted to eat light and take some home, so I ordered a combination that consisted of one crunchy taco, one tostada and one enchilada, with rice and beans. Nothing was too salty (I don't add salt to food so I'm pretty sensitive to it), and the lettuce in the taco and on the tostada was all fresh. The food was tasty and the presentation was pretty much as you would expect, in other words, nothing fancy. As I usually do, I ordered a side order of jalopeños, which were nice and crunchy and "pickly", and not the really hot kind.

Mr. Predictable, my 10-year-old son, had his usual chicken fingers and French Fries in a suitably small serving and an economy price ($3.95). Given that he often doesn't finish his lunch this was really appreciated.

The service was friendly and attentive; when the waitress wasn't with us the other gentleman present (the owner?) came by our table.

With horchata for me and pork fajitas for my friend we're likely to return to El Paso. Next time I'll probably revert to form and get one of their "taco salad" type entrees, or maybe enchiladas suizas. Maybe we'll try one of the "Spanish" (they seemed more Cuban to me) dishes.

The price was very reasonable, too.

A real dining pleasure. We dropped in for lunch at the El Paso Restaurant on the recommendation of a family member while we were in Coral Springs visiting from Tennessee. The specials at lunch include soup, a soft drink, chips and salsas. Service was fast and friendly, the restaurant very clean and pleasant inside, and the food phenomenal.

That first visit last week I ordered from the regular menu, the chicken flautas were generously stuffed with what tasted like rotisserie chicken breast meat, not the shredded stew meat that many restaurants use. A real surprise was the sauce the flautas were topped with, that was more of a chicken gravy like mom would pour over your mashed potatoes on a Sunday dinner with the family. Excellent!

My husband and I returned two more times while we were in the area. A lunch special of the Baby Tampiqueña which I requested be grilled rare was very delicately done, not over-cooked. And our last lunch at the end of the week was a repeat of the chicken flautas with their haunting chicken gravy. Don't even ask me what my husband ordered on these three visits...I was too busy enjoying the platters that were placed in front of me!

Nice atmosphere, vegetarian friendly. My husband and I have been coming to this place almost every month since we discovered it 4 years ago. Great place and very pleasant staff. Also, the vegetarian items are great!

Very Very Good. This is a great place. Small, cozy atmosphere with affordable prices and a "family-owned" aura.

But the food! Let me tell you about the food. If there is better tasting mexican food in Broward County, or S. FLA for that matter, I haven't found it. My wife and I stumbled upon this rather unassuming place last week. About 5 bites into my meal I called the waitress over (by the way, ANY waitress will come over to assist you) and told her to tell the chef that I thought my dish was the best mexican in S. Florida. My wife nodded in agreement.

Try it. It was 22 bucks with drinks and the portions are very nice.

Five stars for service, price, and quality.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. I am originally from Chicago and could not find food Mexican food here in South Florida but when I can across this place my quest has been fulfilled. Juicy steak, nice big cuts, seasoned amazingly!!! The fresh chips and salsa are fresh out of the fryer. This is my go to place now.

If you're looking for fresh, affordable & truly delicious food definitely visit El Paso. We've been here multiple times & every time it does not disappoint. The wait staff is always helpful & very conscientious. The restaurant is extremely clean & has plenty of room. Plus you get to support another local small business.

I want to start by stating this is my favorite local Mexican restaurant. However, we went last night and found the two female members of the waitstaff working the dining room to be rude and standoffish from the moment we arrived. More than a little disappointing as this has never been the case. Went out of our way to be more friendly in hopes it wasn't us that created the disconnect, but confirmed they were indeed the issue by noticing similar interaction with the other guests nearby. If it wasn't for previous experiences being great we would have left and gone elsewhere to have dinner. The food was wonderful as usual and the young man who was running food was a pleasure to deal with. Nice kid, he should be recognized for it. Shame the others were not showing genuine concern like he was.

My wife and I wish we discovered El Paso sooner 🥰 We were instantly greeted when we arrived and our order was taken. There are so many delicious options on the menu you so could visit them multiple times and never have the same thing twice. The food arrived fresh and was made to order quickly. I had the fajitas and they were utterly amazing. The chips and salsa are out of this world and I highly recommend you check them out. I can't recommend them more. Five stars all the way.

A friend told me about El Paso and said they have a great early bird dinner that includes soup and drink. So we tried it. We were greeted promply and our food was served quickly. They first served a cup of chicken and rice soup that was fabulous. My companion had the ropa vieja entree. She enjoyed it, but commented the black beans were a little cold. I had a Mexican stir fry. The plate was piled high with chicken and vegetables over rice and covered with a special sauce. I really enjoyed it. The restaurant was clean and well kept. We will definitely return, a lot of good food for the money. :)
