Best Pablano soup in the world. Want to eat there again and again. Awesome food, good service. Little pricey but well worth it, especially the soup.
The enchilada soup was really good. A little pricey but good quality. I got the half sandwich/soup combo with the chicken salad on sourdough which was great as well.
Pretty decent experience. Menu diversity is good with a unique selection of appetizers and sandwiches. Nice to see a restaurant break out of the norm. Interior ambiance is pretty basic, but who really cares anyway as long as the food is good. Had the fried green tomatoes - not bad; avocado with tuna - pretty good; and a chicken bacon sandwich - not bad. Portion sizes are decent and I like the healthy presentation and side items. Not a 5 star location, but definately worth trying out. I always enjoy the local restaurants anyway.
Great experience, the club sandwich was delicious.. The potato chips were too crispy to be served cold.. Otherwise it would have been a 5.0..
Pablano Soup. Their Pablano soup! AMAZING!!! Great soup with a hint of spice (pablano) but not toooo much. Just right if you like a weeee bit of spice. =) Have to pay a visit to the actual resturant soon =)
Lunch here was not only excellent, but also quick and easy. This was surprising since the restaurant was quite busy with the lunch crowd.
My partner ordered the Nuevo Club Sandwich on wheat. He said the mesquite turkey was excellent. This was a huge triple-stacked sandwich, by the way. He loved the potato chips, too. I ordered the soup and salad combo. Wow! The roasted Poblano soup is amazing. You have to try this. I also ordered the house salad with Caesar dressing. The salad was fresh and crisp.
Nuevo Cafe has a special lunch feature every day, so you always have a surprise if you want to try something random each day. Nuevo Cafe also caters, so this might be a good option for home parties. You can also schedule your private parties here, too.
Food was delicious, but service asinine. Asked for the lunch special which included honey mustard. As I'm allergic to honey, I asked that it be replaced with regular mustard. Response was "no substitutions on lunch special...sorry". I then asked for no mustard, either honey or regular at all, but to exclude it altogether. The response was "not allowed, no substitutions on lunch special...sorry". Ummmm...yeah..I won't be going back anytime soon for that reason alone...."sorry".
Not a huge soup fan but if you go here you HAVE TO GET the Pablano soup! It will change you!!!

The poblano soup was amazing! However.. The grilled cheese was verrrry disappointing! I'll get something different next time, thats for sure.

I love the Nuevo club paired with Ploblano soup. Yum. Just wished the spiciness if the soup was consistent Sometimes it to harsh, but most times it great.
The Poblano Soup is out of this world. They change the artwork (I believe it is once a week but not certain on that). The atmosphere is very casual and even the waitstaff makes you feel right at home. My favorite place for lunch.
Hidden gem!. Poblano soup....poblano soup....it is that good! The other stuff was good too but they pale in comparison to the poblano soup.
The staff is alternative but super friendly and helpful. They had a guitar player the one day I went for lunch...it turned into a fun little sing along. The place is cozy and the menu is limited...but everything on the menu looks great!

Great place - had a late lunch here. Ordered cup of poblano soup (shoulda got the bowl...it's great) and the nuevo club. The club came with home made potato chips and small cup of fresh fruit. Very nice, well-rounded lunch! Oh and a guy doing acoustic alternative music, good touch. Will be back!
Awesome BROWNIES!!. One of my boss' would always bring these brownies to work, but I had never actually eaten there until recently. My sister and I went for lunch, and I really enjoyed it. Their sandwiches are tastey and their poblano soup is amazing. Oh, and of course...the brownies...they're absolutely perfect. Not too sweet and overpowering...just perfect!
Best Soup in town. The poblano soup is magnificent. If you couple it with their club sandwich, you just might be eating the perfect meal.
Only open M-F for lunch. Good soup and sandwiches...not a huge variety. Interesting art & atmosphere.
Their famous poblano soup was indeed pretty good. It's a little spicy though.
The rest of their food is good but not great, but the price makes it worth it. I think it was like ten dollars for a lunch special which includes half a sandwich, a bowl of soup, and house salad. Not a bad deal.
My only complaint is the bell that the kitchen staff ring when they set a meal on the counter for the wait staff to deliver. It was VERY loud, and they would ring it several times each time.
Nuevo Cafe is good blend of hearty and nutricious meals fushioned with a touch of southern and homey ambiance that's worth your visit.

Love, love, love their poblano soup with homemade croutons. The club sandwich is good. Their homemade chips are good but are overcooked. Their homemade pickles are excellent. We don't live in the area any longer but always go eat lunch there every time we come to town. Love this place!
The owner is a really cool dude!! The dishwasher is a fine upstanding young man who deserves a raise and needs to be promoted!!! Love the food... An of course the Poblano soup is a serious cult classic now... It's too die for... If you haven't tried it... Go there now!!!

I had wanted to try this restaurant for a while now. Food was good. My favorite was their poblano soup. Just spicy enough, not over powering, which I loved. I suggest the Sampler appetizer. It is great to try a little taste of all their salads; chicken, egg, tuna etc. If it is your first time I would order the sampler before I would decide on my main entree. I ordered the stuffed avocado with egg salad and the egg salad was a little under seasoned and dry. The avocado was fresh and the fruit that came on the side was pineapple, which was sweet and delicious. The server was professional and nice. She did forget the extra limes we asked for but not a big deal. I would return, it is a cool place and there are other things I would like to try on their menu.
Poblano soup-totally worth the hype. I order mine with a side of croutons, home made potato chips or with a 1/2 of a sandwich with the lunch combo. The food is delicious and the staff are great as well. Definitely a good place for a quick weekday lunch.
I like to visit this cafe every time I come to Corpus. The poblano soup is delicious and a must try if you stop by. They have good sandwiches as well. It's a small cafe and close to Ocean Dr. This time the cafe smelled like sewer for some reason... I was able to tolerate the smell because I really wanted the soup. I hope they fix this issue soon.
It was my first time here after hearing lots of great things about the place and food. I kept hearing of their poblano soup, and I'm glad they gave me a free sample... then I knew I had to order some! My friend and I had their lunch combo (soup and sandwich)... so good! I've heard they make most of their things fresh and it was noticeable. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone... whether it was a quick bite for lunch time, relaxing get together with a friend or taking out the kids.
The pablano soup is heavenly... often imitated... never duplicated... the rest of the food is mostly salads and sandwiches... a little bit of California style... tasty but not Texas size by any means... the restaurant... bistro style... the place to be seen with all the other movers and shakers in Corpus Christi...

AMAZING!!!! I've only ever gotten the nuevo half club + poblano soup, because its so damn good, I don't waste my time with anything else. My only complaint, was as a kid I used to have to skip school to make my mom take me here, since its basically only open during school hours. LOVEEEE this place.
Poblano soup is amazing, their club sandwich is amazing, and I love their homemade potato chips! Great service. I also liked if you wanted water to drink they offer bottled water so you don’t have to drink tap water.
